Question for those that shower at night ......... What at do you do with your hair? Doesn't your pillow get wet? And getting wet, and lying on the bed all the time, doesn't it get moldy? I quite like the idea of showering before bed, but I don't want a wet pillow, and I don't want to blow dry my hair every night. Are my fears groundless? I use one of those Turbie Twist type towels on my hair -- takes out the excess water and leaves it damp. I have very curly hair and I like to let it air dry anyhow. I don't sleep on a soaking wet pillow.

In answer to the original question - both.

Usually just in the morning, but if I work out in the evening I will shower again before bed. I go to bed with damp hair. If it's more than just damp, I put a towel on my pillow. The pillow doesn't get wet and I've never had issues with molding or anything like that (and we live in a very humid climate).

Definitely, in the morning. I'd never get out of the house if I didn't! I also have asthma and severe allergies, so there are a lot of nights that I wake up drenched in sweat from having trouble breathing. I have to have a shower then!

Depends on the weather, honestly. In the middle of the summer, I shower twice daily, at a minimum (100 degree humid weather = YUCK) If I work out at night, I shower at night then again in the morning. I do my hair in the morning, so I wake up at 4:30. Showering and blow drying my hair take me to approximately 5:40, then I iron my clothes and I'm out the door at 6:00 am. If I don't want to rush, I iron my clothing the evening before.
I can't NOT shower in the morning.

I am an evening shower-er. For several reasons...I had long hair for a long time and my hair is also quite thick and naturally curly, to shower in the morning and dry to get it dry and styled to go to school or work would have require several hours and simply wasn't practical. Even leaving it wet wasn't an option as it would just frizz if it wasn't dried correctly. It seems like a lot of us have a variation on this "problem" although I guess having nice thick hair isn't the worst thing in the world. But this is a big part of why I want to switch to night showers, because even though I don't wash my hair every day anymore, when I do it's a real time suck because it takes SO long and it must be dried completely or I get frizz.

Immediately after working out, in the morning if I'm working that day, and then on an as-needed basis.

When I was younger I bathed in the evening. Now it's always morning. If I have done something strenuous, I'll also take one at night but that is rare.

Morning. My family likes to sleep with it warmer than I do so, I perspire more when I'm sleeping than during the day.

I also have asthma and severe allergies, so there are a lot of nights that I wake up drenched in sweat from having trouble breathing. I have to have a shower then! My asthma/allergy docs recommend showering before bed to get all the pollen/allergens off the body and the hair. That way it's not transferring to your pillow to breath all night. It gives your body a break for the night.

I shower in the morning and at night. I feel like I can't start my day off without a shower and I have to rinse the day off before getting in my nice clean bed.
I only do the full scrub, shave, etc in the morning. Night is only a warm shower rinse off.

I don't wash my hair at night when I shower because I don't like sleeping with wet hair. I wash my hair in the morning at the utility sink in the laundry room (I have short hair) or in the shower if I got night sweaty the night before. I have to wash my hair every day or it looks greasy and flat. I almost never blow dry my hair and other than shampoo I rarely use any conditioner or styling products on it. I let it air dry unless I would otherwise be leaving the house with wet hair in the winter.

Night, I have to shower and wash my long hair every night to get the chemicals and perfumes out of my hair and off my body to help keep my chemical intolerance under control. And I also have an air purifier that also helps. Besides, especially as the weather gets warmer, I feel too grungy and dirty to sleep well. There are times on my day off when I don't bother to take the shower at night, too tired, figure I'll take it in the morning. Then, can't sleep until I get up and shower! THEN I can sleep.

I don't shower right before bed...there's still a couple of hours at least before I go to bed. I wash my hair and towel dry...then I let it air dry for an hour or more, then finally I'll blow dry the rest of the moisture out of it and by the time I actually get into bed, it's dry. I couldn't go to bed with wet hair...and if I did it would still be wet in the morning. Oh and I still wash in the morning! A shower at night is the whole top to toe body scrub, but I don't just roll out of bed in the morning and assume I'm done. I still fill a sink with warm water, wash my face/neck, under my arms, under boobs etc and dry off and apply new deodorant. That's just basic hygiene.

I totally understand the theory of showering at night in order to go to bed clean, but I prefer to shower in the morning to wake myself up. I have plenty of time in the morning because I don't have to leave for work until 8:30am. On the very rare times that I have to start work early and therefore leave home at 7:15am, I have a shower the night before. To be honest, it's actually very liberating not to have to shower in the morning!
I did toy with the idea of showering at night but it wouldn't work for me - I need to wash my hair every second day, and by the end of the second day it's starting to look flat, dull, lifeless and verging on oily. If I were to wash my hair at night, it would mean I'd have to get through an extra 12 hours without washing (no thanks) or wash every night (definitely no thanks).
If I have been to the beach or in a pool or been exercising during the day I will have a quick shower at night.

I shower in the morning because I have to wash and style my hair. When I workout after work, I also shower at night. But morning showers are my standard.

I have serious hair issues, i dont have super long hair, just below my boobs, but i have tons of it. I only wash my hair once a week or so (unless I had some sort of vigorous exercise or went to the beach, both of which are rare ) and that is in the evening. Today is Hair Washing Day and I will probably do it about 3. I can't blow dry it regularly because my scalp has just fallen apart over the last 10 years and is super dry and flaky. I have a delicate balance of washing, drying, etc and by now it's down to a science. I clip it up in sections so each section can air dry, because otherwise it would never dry in the middle or back. By bedtime it is air dried mostly. If I do go to the beach or something, my hair care routine is all thrown off and I have yucky scalp for a month getting back to a balance. I've tried prescription shampoos, diet, but this routine is all that really works- rare washing, air drying. But- even if I went to the sauna and scrubbed and soaked u til 10 pm and then came home and went to bed, I still must shower every morning. I just can't get dressed without a shower, I feel gross. I just don't wash my hair in there, but I always shower every morning.

On work days, I shower in the morning. The night sweats make me too stinky.
On non-work days, I shower whenever. If I was particularly sweaty or I know we will be going out and about, I shower in the a.m. If I know I'll be working out later, I'll wait until after.

I can't believe that I didn't think of that - shower in the evening but not right before getting into bed - genius! That does sound like the answer for me. Thanks!

Night! I have always been that way, even back in HS where I can remember ALL of my friends showering in the morning. I have very long hair and I do not use a blow dryer. I couldn't go anywhere on time if I washed it in the morning!
I don't think I could get into bed if I didn't shower first. I like to get under the sheets super-squeaky clean.

Both. I shower to wake up and I shower after I run in the evening. But I am under no illusion that my bed is pristine because I've washed off the day. I have sex in my bed and don't hop back up to shower or put clean sheets on the bed afterward. People smell when they sleep (no one on this thread though). Have you ever walked into a closed up bedroom after people have slept all night? Gag. Beds and pillows are full of skin cells and dust mites, etc. I smell people sometimes standing in a line somewhere and think, they didn't shower this morning. They smell like a pillow. It is completely true that we are the last to smell ourselves. Again, I'm sure no one on this thread smells. I'm talking only about other people and their beds. I'm super fussy about my bed. I wash the sheets twice a week and wash the pillows once a month. I do not have sex on my sheets. I sleep with the fan on high and the door open. I can't imagine touching my sheets without being clean and freshly shaven.
