I know this is of zero use to you this time, but maybe consider doing it going forward. I do a lot of buying of vintage things at proper antique stores, Craigslist, auctions, and yard sales. Everything is taken out of my car as soon as I go home and either inspected and washed immediately or put on my side yard behind the gate to get to later. I don't bring anything inside my house until I am sure it is ok.
To clean things, It obviously depends on the materials it is made of. I will take the garden hose to wood items and blast any dirt or dust off.
Now obviously you can't do that with a lense, but it would have been looked at carefully and put into a suction bag and the air sucked out. The camera bag would have been dunked in a tub of warm soapy water if possible. I have put things in plastic bags into my freezer or into trash bags in the sun in the back yard.
I have a real huge fear of bringing home bugs. Especially since my wood pieces are all rustic and rough surfaced with lots of potential hiding places. But because they are rustic, they are not really hurt by water and a bit of scrubbing. I always dry them well and use the air compressor to get into crevasses. With all the old junk I buy and all my paranoid checking, I have only found bugs in one thing.
I even wash metal things. My renter came home when I was washing all the drawers of an old bolt bin set. I even put the screws and stuff into a colander to soak in soapy water to get any grease off. He had a good laugh at me, but pitched in to help wash and sort the bits. They were really filthy with lots of wood shavings that had spilled into it.
If you aren't turned off from buying used things now, try really checking and cleaning anything you bring into your home. I think you will feel better knowing you didn't introduce bugs.

Yes, I can't get ahead either. I just found out that I owe another $500 in taxes. How the hell it happened I have no idea. Last year they told me it was the Obamacare crap and this year they are saying it is because nobody had withheld from my income. Gee, I wonder what excuse they will come up with next year to soak me. I have hardly anything and the less I have the MORE I owe apparently. Throwing my hands up and forgetting the whole thing. I give up. I can't even afford to use the insurance that I have, or the meds. If I scrap all that they'll FINE me even more. I hate life right now. So much for HELPING people.

Oh I hope they aren't bedbugs that came with either purchase. Oh my I hate bugs and the thought of bed bugs sends me over the edge. And bugs in the camera definitely crosses the line! Good luck I so hadn't thought of that. And that bag has been sitting in my bedroom closet for a month!!! Month old BB could not be described as 'tiny' they'd have to be jst hatched. BB can hatch in 10-14 days so you'd have to have an adult somewhere. Then you'd have the telltale signs of BB as they are messy bugs.they can lay dormant as adults for nearly a year. www.ct.gov/caes/lib/caes/documents/bed_bugs/2012/bed_bugs_and_lookalikes.pdfI sure hope they aren't BB. The best way to get rid of all stages of BB from egg to adult is to heat or cool them for several Hours. Oy I'm crossing my fingers it's something less difficult to get rid of.

Yes, I feel like that all the time!
That is why I'm working so hard at being debt free. I want to have a nice healthy emergency fund after that so I no longer have to worry about all the crap that happens. Just this month I shelled out another $300 for a sick cat.
I am trying to drill into my teenage son the importance of savings, not using credit cards, etc.

This is how I constantly feel. It's to the point that I don't even feel happy when I'm able to save because I know I won't be able to ever use the money for anything fun because there is always a necessary expense that will pop up. Like car repairs, washer & dryer repairs, etc.
