Hey ladies!!! It is almost time! Let's get going! How are you preparing for this 2 week challenge?
I will be posting a sketch, color combo, specific challenge, product/combo etc to use/inspire each day for 2 weeks. The goal is to create SOMETHING every day (or as often as you can) using the prompts as guidelines/jumping off points. You can do exactly what they challenge or interpret them however you wish or do your own thing. I am pretty flexible, no wrong or right way. I just want you to CREATE something! Leave love for your fellow CADers (creation a dayers yes its a word now) LOL!
So today let's talk about getting ready. As I have hosted these several times in the past I find that the ones that are most successful are those that are prepared first. Life happens (how else do we make memories to create with?) but if we have a plan it helps a little.
I usually make sure I pull several sets of photos I need to get scrapped (I am mostly a layout/PL girl). They may or may not get done but it is nice to have them pulled out. I also make sure my area is organized, cleaned off and ready to go. I check to make sure I have plenty of adhesive, my basic supplies and of course a few new to me things to make it fun.
How are you going to get ready? What are your goals for this time around? Is this your first go at it?
Can't wait until Monday! I will post each prompt/challenge in the thread but also in the first post to keep it all together.
PRE CHALLENGE:
Today is Sunday! The day before Monday! Are you all getting excited? Today I have a little challenge for you. I need you to find some photos that you have been putting off getting scrapped for one reason or another (or a project if you don't scrap). They should have a story to tell, something beyond the who, what, when, where or "we had fun here". Get them ready, rough draft journaling if you need to. You will need them this week!
Challenge ONE (Monday Aug 4). Here is a sketch from May 2013 pagemaps (I believe). I want you to make it a DOUBLE page layout with at least FOUR photos. Make it your own. If you do not scrap translate it to a project with FOUR of the same elements instead of photos. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I will probably be posting the night BEFORE since mornings are a little hectic for me with the littles.
DAY TWO:
I want a SINGLE layout, with at least TWO pictures, and at least FOUR pattern papers, 2 circles and a title. Is that too much? For an added twist use a new(er) to you product/technique.
DAY THREE: Answer a quick question for me. FIRE OR ICE?
Don't look until you answer.....
Have you made a choice???
Ok here you go. If you choose FIRE I want to see reds, oranges, distressing, inking, anything that looks 'burnt' as if caught on or currently on fire. Your project should reflect FIRE someway, please explain.
If you choose ICE I want to see cool blues, whites, silvers maybe some water droplets, white, glass like items, sheer, anything to represent ICE. Your project should reflect ICE in some way, please explain.
Day 4: Stash it up! Today we are going to dig in that stash. I am talking using that old but good stuff. You know the stuff we bought, used, loved, and stashed away for all the new shiny stuff. Time for it to come back out and play. Dig dig dig. You must include at least TWO of the following items on your creation.
Buttons (at least three)
Fibers
flat stickers (at least two)
stripes
polka dots
eyelets
brads
borders
handwritten journaling
metal of some sort
other (please state and it must not currently be "trendy")
DAY 5:
So if you are like me you start with cardstock as your base and add patterned paper on top, photos etc to make your page. Well today I want to see you use ONLY patterned paper, NO cardstock at all. NONE. Now if you are a patterned paper only girl you must ONLY use cardstock. Ha thought you were getting off easy huh? Let's see what you got ladies!
Challenge 6/7 (weekend). This one is for justcindy, girl where are you?
This is a TWO part challenge. Sometimes, if you are like me, you get the photos down, the paper is there, the embellishments etc but you either forget or run out of room for the WORDS, the STORY, the reason (at least my reason) we scrap. So this weekend I want you to journal your heart out. I want you to tell me a story, a story that the pictures DON'T tell. A story that NEEDS to be told. A story BEYOND the who, what, where. Something that is special to you, something funny, silly, sad, something emotional in some way. Something that needs to be documented that has not been done thus far.
I challenge you to do journal at least 1/4 of your creation. So if you are doing a 12X12 page (single) you would need a 6X6 space of words. Doing 8X8 then I want to see a 4X4 approximate space of words and so forth. You can hand write, list, computer journal, whatever you are more comfortable with is just fine. You can hide the journaling or have it front and center, it is up to you. I do want a shot of it to prove you did it though (if you need to blur the words that is fine). Get that story written.
BUT THERE IS MORE! It is summer, that makes me think of bright colors, so this is ALSO a color combination. I have TWO choices for you. Please choose one and try to use it in your creation. (If it doesn't work for the story you want to tell that is fine, story comes first). If you want to do this as TWO challenges (story one and color another) that is fine too! So who thinks they can do this?
Challenge 8: (Monday August 11) GRIDS! I want to see a project COMPLETELY done in A GRID or with gridded paper, a grid design, etc etc. Very linear but make it your own. I have attached some examples of what I think a grid is, what is your interpretation? (examples on page four in post)
Challenge 9: Monochromatic. Pick a color family and make a creation using only those colors. Bonus points if you do ONLY black/white/gray! Lets see what you got ladies!
Challenge 10: Make BINGO from the following (three across, up/down or diagonal). Let's see what you got.
black lace metal
pink doodling misting/inking
b/w photos clear arrow
CHALLENGE 11: We did a weekend challenge with LOTS of journaling, now lets do one with LITTLE journaling. On your creation you are only allowed THREE sentences or less. Let's see what you story you can tell with your pictures and paper!
CHALLENGE 12: I have attached THREE cards. They are NOT my cards, I have them pinned on pinterest here if you want to find the original sources card board. Your challenge is to be inspired by at least TWO of the three cards. Please tell us what inspired you and how you translated that to your creation. (cards posted on page 6)
CHALLENGE 13: SCRAPLIFT. I find that this is the highest form of flattery, as long as credit is given of course. So your challenge is to scraplift ANY creation that has been posted in this thread/challenge the past two weeks. Tell us what your loved/lifted and please give credit. Can't wait to see what you make!
CHALLENGE 14-LAST CHALLENGE ladies! I can't believe two weeks is up! I have a list of options. Choose your poison so to speak.
Stripes or polkadots?
Bling or misting?
Washi or ribbon?
Handwritten or Computer Journaling?
Matted photos or unmatted photos?
Lots of layers(five or more) or less than five?
Single photo or multiple photos?
Now that you have answered these questions, your creation must reflect your answers! AND GO!
