Just like we have the like button. I would like a don't like button. Sometimes I am too lazy to post my disagreement.
What do you say beautiful, Refupea Administrator?

That's most likely something controlled by ProBoards and not by the Admin.

That's most likely something controlled by ProBoards and not by the Admin. I think she's a magical, unicorn Refupea that could make that happen.

I disagree as well. One, I would prefer to know why someone disagrees with me. maybe they have a point of view I haven't thought of before.
And it just seems unnecessarily negative to me.

Yeah I wouldn't want a thumbs down button either. If someone is going to disagree I would much rather they give their opinion as to why. You never know, I might learn something new, or at least see another side of the argument I hadn't considered before. I was glad that FB decided against the Dislike button.

I can only imagine the mayhem a dislike button would cause.

Most peas are more likely to tell you why you disagree or give their opinion anyway!? That's how it works around here right! We'll tell ya if we don't like it! LOL! or do!

Wouldn't that take away a heck of a lot of the discussions? Liking a post is just saying "Yup, me too" kind of thing, simple and self explanatory, but to disagree takes a reason.

I would like some sort of compassion button. When someone comes on and tells us about some horribly painful situation going on in their life, I just don't feel right clicking the thumbs up button, but I would like to be able to have a button that shows you heard them and that you get it. I know I can just post that, but sometimes, I can't make my brain come up with anything that sounds like the emotion I am trying to convey. Something like a hug button, you know?

I like that idea, clicking the like button seems wrong when the situation is painful/sad/awful. A hug button would be nice.

As far as a dislike button. We don't need one. In many threads, you'll often see each post has several likes. Then someone posts one of those posts. No likes.
Silence speaks loud and clear.

You better watch it... you might get voted off rainbows-and-unicorns island. Good point. Magical unicorn Refupea admins can only survive on a rainbows-and-unicorns island so absolutely no negativity allowed I disagree as well. One, I would prefer to know why someone disagrees with me. maybe they have a point of view I haven't thought of before. And it just seems unnecessarily negative to me. But mostly I agree with this, so no dislike button. Although it is theoretically possible, it wouldn't work on mobile, which would no doubt cause a riot when people couldn't dislike a post because they happened to be on their phone at the time. In other words even if I wanted to put it on it's more hassle than it's worth. If you're feeling lazy I'm pretty sure just posting this would get the message across:

I am on another board with it and there are assholes who will down vote everything. The worst is when it is something like a miscarriage thread. Not a fan.

The drama on You Tube over the dislike button. Kristina Werner once got her panties in a wad over a thumbs down. I just kept thinking, "Girl, you should be above this at this point in your YT career.".

We have a hug smiley: That comes across as a little too cheery for those really solemn occasions like a death or suicide or truly awful situations. I have such a hard time typing what I feel sometimes. I always feel like it comes out wrong, or am afraid that it will be read as cheesy or insincere. This.

I like the "compassion button" idea but I have to disagree with Trollie on the dislike button. I don't think it would be a positive addition to our little world. We at NSBR have no trouble disagreeing with each other, but at least we must now take the time to explain why. If you can quickly click the "like" button that sends a little bit of sunshine into someone's day; if you click the "dislike" button that just does the opposite for no purpose.
For example: I like to write reviews on Amazon; I take the time to give an honest review because so many of the reviews on there are clearly bought and paid for. And yet some asshat will make a point to click the "not helpful" button. WTF, why is that even there? It's lazy, hostile, and it accomplishes nothing except to make me feel annoyed and send out a mental "up yours" to this anonymous person.

Yup there just sometimes isn't the words or the smiley for stuff like that. It's hard but you want to be able to just reach across the screen and give a hug or something.

I would love a compassion button.
I can see Trollie's point about a dislike, I tend to ignore the over the top snarky, uncalled for responses in a post, because I don't want to give the poster the acknowledgement they seem to want. But I have wanted to dislike that specific post before. The acknowledgement that what they said was crappy and uncalled for, without adding fuel to their already icky fire.

When I use this emoticon I always follow it up with some explanation. This is me hugging you tightly. Just know you are in my thoughts and prayers. xoxox that kind of thing. I don't use it lightly.

Sometimes I "like" a post I don't agree with because I think they made a good point, even though I don't feel the same way. But I have a law degree, so used to looking at both sides!
