I have a feeling that corrosion sex is nothing to giggle about. It sounds . . . painful.

Oh, elaine , Elaine, Elaine. LOL. I ordered the Kitchen Helper handle that you linked last week to help pick up hot pans out of the Instant Pot. Got it today. It's awesome. But have you read the back of the package? Like really read it? It reads like a sex toy. I'm seriously dying right now - LOL. OMG! I never read it, just opened and tossed the package. It reminds me of some of the phishing emails I get that are just word salad with a sexual bent. I really want to know what corrosion sex is, but I guess I should be happy that it is resistant to it.

I take full responsibility for this lack of comprehensive with partial blame due to my drinking of a delicious glass of chardonday. I truly did not want to offend.

I truly did not want to offend. OMG, I hope you are kidding! It would take WAY more than that to offend me. I don't even know if it's possible to truly offend me.

Thank you for your very kind response. I am in a difficult personal place right now & feel that I un-intentionally offend people. PS. - love your Italian beef recipe.

Haven't been doing much in house cooking. I do a lot of grilling And salads in the summer. Has anyone made yogurt in the IP with less than a gallon of milk? It's just to much for me. thanks!

I haven't tried Bolognese, I will have to give it a go. I made jambalaya - kinda thing tonight, based loosely on this recipe. It was very fast and tasted pretty good for such a quick meal. I had to adjust the liquid, I used 1 cup rice and 2 cups stock, which made it the right amount of saucy. I had ground chicken and chorizo, so that is what I used, and I threw in some file powder too. I made that instant pot oreo cheesecake for a dinner party I went to. It was so good! CheesecakeI was always so hesitant to make cheesecake before, but this makes it too easy. All my regular recipes made big ass cheesecakes. I love the little 7" springform. It's perfect for a couple of nights of dessert for our family. I made your greenbeans the other night, but the lid wasn't on my pepper and WAY too much dumped into the pressure cooker. I tried to fish some out but it was just too much. I got more beans today, to give them a proper go! Having never used my pressurecooker for jambalaya AND I have all the ingredients, can you please give me some more directions. Ugh feel like an idiot but in determined to master this gadget.

I sauteed the sausage, chicken (i had ground, but just cut it up if breasts) first and added onion, peppers to it for a few minutes. Added in garlic and spices from the linked recipe and one cup rice. Then I added a can of tomatoes and just under two cups water. I like it a bit saucy but if you don't you can reduce the water by a half cup. Then I sealed it up and manual pressure for 8 minutes with a quick release. scrappinghappy

I had workers over yesterday, helping me with the sheet rock, so I made lunch for them. The night before I put a 3.5 pound pork loin in one PC on it's steamer rack with 2 cups of water and about 1/3 of a bottle of BBQ sauce. Pressure cooked it at high pressure for 1 hour and then shredded it, put it in the liner of my crock-pot and put it in the fridge for Saturday. While the pork was cooking in the one PC I made potatoes and eggs for potato salad in the IP. It took 4 minutes to have 5 pounds of potatoes cooked perfectly for potato salad AND my house stayed nice and cool. Yesterday about an hour before lunch-time I made baked beans in the IP.
Today I'm making yogurt and tomorrow I'm going to try butter chicken. I've been looking at the various different recipes for it and it looks SO good.

I realized that I never came back to report on my meatloaf and vegetables. On Elaine's advice I put the meatloaf in by itself for 17 minutes. Did quick release, took it out and put in the potatoes for four minutes without the meatloaf. Quick release and the ones on the bottom were just about overcooked, the skin was falling off. So I took those out, left the others in, added the bag of baby carrots, put the meatloaf back in on top (it was on a steamer basket with foil "sling" so I could lift it out). Three minutes, quick release, took meatloaf out, carrots were so soft that when I pierced them with a fork they broke in half. ugh So clearly the blog where I got the original recipe either has a different pressure cooker or her photo (that shows whole potatoes and carrots supposedly after 25 minutes) is made up. I'm going to make it again with potatoes and carrots in there from the beginning, for the whole 25 minutes, then take a photo. We will see how that compares to the blog photo. Then I'll mash everything, which should be easy since they'll be mush after that time, and we'll have mashed potatoes and carrots which will still taste yummy. The meatloaf was excellent and I can't imagine that I'll ever cook a meatloaf in the oven again. After I do my 25 minute experiment I'll just do the potatoes and carrots separately and it will be fine. This morning I did an experiment with a sweet potato. I cut it in quarters and set it on a steamer basket. I did four minutes, quick release, and it was not *quite* cooked. So I just set the lid back on (not sealed) and left it for another minute or so to sit in the steam that was still coming off of the water. At the end of that time they were PERFECT. And interestingly enough (to me anyway, since I don't really understand the science of pressure cookers) the skin just FELL off. I had a perfectly cooked hot sweet potato. I put butter on it and ate the whole thing for a second breakfast. lol

Well ladies, this should be interesting. My DH is making our first meal in the pressure cooker. Only, he didn't read all of the directions and didn't have the valve on sealed. I think it was about 30 minutes later when I realized this, maybe more, out of about an hour and a half cooking time. So we switched it but have no idea how it will turn out We are using the Pressure Cooker Kalua Pig recipe from nom nom paleo. I tried posting a link but for some reason am not able to, it won't let me paste what I copied. Anyway, wish us luck!

Survey says "eh, it was edible." We should have put more liquid back in as it ended up being pretty dry. I think the flavor would have been good otherwise. The video class that elaine recommended is probably up next for us instead of just winging it!

@burning Feather & elaine - Thank you for letting me know you had posted about the packaging of the supposedly multi use Kitchen Helper! Question - Did yours come with a silicone circle with a logo on it? Is there a use for this?

So I'm home today with my dd who is recovering from her knee surgery yesterday. She's still on heavy-duty narcotics so I can't leave her alone to run to the store. I was eying my pressure cooker and thinking, and looking in the refrigerator. I have the following: -- two small zucchini -- one onion -- several tomatoes -- a bag of frozen broccoli -- two potatoes -- a red pepper -- frozen chicken -- canned black beans -- half a carton of leftover beef broth from last week's meatloaf
I may to an experiment and just chuck it all in the pressure cooker, along with more liquid, and see of some kind of soup emerges.
Any suggestions?

I made a pork roast last night, using this recipe, and fresh herbs from the garden. amazingonepotmeals.com/pressure-cooker-pork-roast/ I skipped the vegetables. The flavor was good, although it was a little dry. Did I brown it too long before cooking, or did it need the vegetables to supply more moisture?

Lean pork cuts can easily be overcooked and become dry, even in the pressure cooker. So, your roast shouldn't have been cooked at high pressure for more than the 19 minutes called for in the recipe (14 minutes alone and then 5 more with veggies). With fatter cuts, you can add time with no problems, but lean cuts can dry out.

I'm with my relatives in Michigan doing rounds of doctor visits. I'm cooking them dinner tonight. I have poached pears going in the pressure cooker now and will make a pork loin roast for the main course at dinner time.
