Ah, now this helps since you said you are on iPad. It's your Bluetooth booting you off. Mine is doing that too. Have you updated Design Space and your OS. Also there is a WiFi connection issue with IOS12, especially on the iPhones. When you say booting you off you have to reconnect right? It's not the app crashing? I just uploaded Layered Love on my Ipad. The first three layers that are black, red & pink are all size correctly. That top layer is smaller than the other layers. Girls I am stumped too. I have never done a Cricut project. I have only used my designs or cartridge designs. This is out of my league. I feel terrible because I want to help. I noticed we can't put the design on the mat. My iPad is just showing it to be prepared for cutting. Can the projects be edited on your computer but not on iPad? I am at a loss too. TheBirdhouseLady please don't feel like this machine has turned into a nightmare. That card looks weird on my Ipad too. That top white layer is so tiny while the others match. scrapnnana There is a bug resize problem. It's a minor bug. I noticed it about a year and half ago. I sent them a message. They are aware of it. It's not widespread and only seems to effect certain models of computers and operating systems. Mine showed up on my AMD but not my Intel. That is always to be expected. Not a lot Cricut can do about that, except to test it on future operating systems.

Okay, so it's a project, not a cartridge design that the bug affects? That could explain why I have never had this issue. I have never bought any of their projects, just a few Disney designs, and I have used my cartridge designs. There are card cartridges, but I take it that the problem cards are projects rather than cartridge designs?

scrapnnana Birdhouse Lady's problem is with the project on her iPad. That is not the resize bug at all that I am talking about. The resize bug is all cuts on the Explore. It effects designs that are uploaded, cartridge designs, probably the Project Designs. Girls I am not trying to make anybody worry about this resize bug. I only brought it up because I know it's there. Please remember this is an obscure bug that only will be on certain Operating Systems running certain processors. It is an easy to fix workaround. Which setups and how this bug occurs is completely random. This is not Cricut's fault. I want to reiterate that. This is not Cricut's fault. This happens a lot no matter what software program. This bug could happen with the Silhouette Software or SCAL. I am not trying to make an issue of this. I was just trying to help. I am think tech issues first and not user error so we can rule those out. When I am thinking tech issues I am not attacking the companies. This is my side job. I look for bugs and security flaws in software. When I am using my own personal software program I notice things that most users do not notice, even most IT guys don't notice these things that's why they hire people like me. I like to be cheeky about Cricut. Yes, I do get mad at them. I am starting to get a little hesitant about saying anything because I don't want it to turn out to be an issue. I am just trying to help. The Birdhouse Lady I have been trying to fix your problem. Right after I posted here last night my Cricut Ipad app crashed. That is a first. I just did get the new update. I want you to know I don't think it's user error on your part. IOS12 is having a lot of issues right now and I think Cricut got looped up into it. Maybe, the update didn't go in correctly. I had another stable app on my iPad crash on me too. I am thinking this is on Apple's side. I know about the Bluetooth timing out and booting us off. I think your boots are also because of the app. I am sure Cricut is probably working on a fix update. They seem to update this app regularly. The project resize issue. I am still at a loss. I can't get that project to move over to Canvas for editing. I don't know if Cricut allows editing of projects in Canvas or they just don't allow editing in Canvas for Ipad users. The Ipad app is nice but it's limited and you do need to have a computer for a lot of things in conjunction with your iPad.
I did check just a normal image and not project. It's coming up on Canvas and & Make just fine on my iPad. That's why I am thinking the Projects are the issue here. Maybe somebody uploaded it wrong.
I hope that helps a little. I hope somebody else can weigh in with a solution.

I didn't mean for you to go so through so much trouble for me @amayalylac!!! But, it does make me feel better to know that I am not the only one having issues with that particular card.
Later I am going to try to make a couple more cards. I am going into it with a clear mind and basket of patience!!

The Birdhouse Lady You don't feel bad. I love helping you. I want to help you. This is a real problen you are having. It's not your fault or user error. I want you to enjoy your Cricut and have lots of fun with it and feel creative. I hate it when people are frustrated with their tools. This is suppose to be a fun hobby and not wanting to bash your Cricut with a hammer. Cricut has had a bad rep over the years. Us girls, including me, can have issues with a lot of really, really bad decisions they have made. It makes us feel shaky. scrapnnana is worried about her pricey HTV getting ruined. I understand that. This bug could effect it. I get frustrated because for years I try to find workarounds. I am like don't shoot the messenger when I uncover something. That's what I do I find bugs in software. I can't help doing that when I am on my own personal time too. It is an easy fix. It happens on all systems- Mac, Linux, Windows, IOS, Android. It doesn't matter. Software algorithims are going to compute differently on all hardware. I guess a good way to look at it is like our Big Shots. You can have the same Big Shot as your best friend and her sandwich recipes for her machine will be different than yours by the way the machine was individually put together. If that makes any sense. I worked on your problem some more. I got it fixed The resize bug is in Apple too. I did some research. The crashes are apparently IOS12. The bluetooth time out is on both ends- Apple & Cricut. Not a lot to be done about Bluetooth time out. That will be based on improved bluetooth techologies over the next few years. I figured out about the Layered Love Card. This is great news. When you click on the project you will see Make It & Customize. Click Customize. Now that will lay everything out for you on Canvas. Girls, if you could do this for me too to help her I would appareciate it. In case I missed steps or you could explain it better. See the white love. It's not the same size as the grey love. Click on Actions- Select Ungroup. Select the Grey Love image. Go to Edit- You will see the size. Mine is 5.3 x 4.1. Remember the 5.3. Click on the White Love. Go to Edit. See the size again. On Width type in 5.3 or what your width was for your card. Now move the White Love over the Gray Love and it should be a perfect layer. How did the new batch of cards go? Was it easier or were you still having issues. Let us know so we can help.

Thanks, amayalylac. Now that I am aware of the bug, I will be less likely to ruin my HTV or leather, especially since you gave us the steps to correct it.
I probably would have been able to figure it out, but there would have been some hair pulling first. I appreciate your expertise and helpful tips. I will make sure everything lines up correctly before cutting, too.

The Birdhouse Lady I also noticed there was another cut behind it. I think it's a pink layer. It's also the wrong size. You will have to resize that one too. It's the same steps.

What the ever loving F are they putting on those mats! ? I bought a huge pack of the Blue ones for a good discount about a year ago and they weren't sticky enough to get a cat stuck on them. I know! That's what I was thinking. My cardstock got stuck. I have an expensive ream of Epsom paper. I couldn't get it off the mat and when I did it was already a sticker! I have never ever, ever had mats so sticky. I bought the standard mats I think back in October. Of course my low tack mat came with my new Cricut in November. I was so hoping I got a bad batch but the November mat proved me wrong, lol.
The one thing I have never knocked Cricut about is the mats. Now, they ruined it, ROFL! I have always loved their mats. My DH said I probably should get the purple mat and see if we can pull the paint off a semi-truck, lol. I was like "I think the low tack mats will be fine for that job!"
The paint is coming off the mat too because they are so sticky. When you take your project off the mat there is little bits of green or blue sticky on your project. There is the mat with the white showing through.
I honestly think they changed the glue formulation when the Cricut Maker came out. That is my theory.
That is another thing I never hear about the Cricut Maker any more? Is it still hot? When I was on IG this holiday season I saw a lot of people getting the Air Cricut's or Cameo's. I was really surprised not to see Maker's. It seemed like a lot of textile artists were getting Big Shots too. I thought that was so odd because I heard textile artists are leaning towards machines like the Maker or ScannCut.
I hope I don't have to get mats anytime soon then! What a PITA. The Maker is the only machine promoted in the emails I get from Cricut. My Cricut groups talk mostly of the Maker now and everyone is still into doing vinyl protects. I had to find a group that talked more of paper projects because that's what I mostly do and scrapbooking.

Hi there OntarioScrapper ! I usually post on the NSBR board. I see some familiar faces here! I spent most of Saturday being completely frustrated with my Cricut Explore Air 2. I received it for Christmas from my son. It’s my first machine of this kind. I’m sure some of my frustration was user error since I am a newbie but geez something that it suppose to give you enjoyment shouldn’t be such a pain in the butt. Here is my problem. On design space I picked a few cards to make for Valentines. They were the Layered Love Card, Be My Valentine, and the Hello Honeycomb Card. With the layered love card, it cut the top layer (white) really small like 2x3 and the next piece regular size: obviously it wouldn’t line up. on the be my valentine card, again small card like really small and a regular sized envelope and printer the words in the middle of the card. On the hello honeycomb card, the words wouldn’t print, which is the cutest part of the card: somehow, not sure what I did but I finally got the words to print. i wasted so much time not to mention the paper I wasted. I could have gone to Target, bought cards, signed them, and sent them in 1/4 of the time. is this normal for Cricut? Also I got booted off so many times and had to reopen it. So far I give this machine a big BOOOO I suggest you look for YouTube videos. Using Design Space isn't as easy as Cricut makes it seem. I had to watch videos to figure it out. When you want words printed out, make sure they are attached to the piece you want it to print on. Even the premade projects may not work exactly as it should. I've had to change sizes before with the premade projects. Do you mean you got kicked out of Design Space? That could be your internet. Or it's the server is overloaded at that time. There are times I avoid using Design Space because of too many people being on it.

Why would anyone want to do vinyl on the Maker? That is kind of overkill.
I understand why Cricut wants to promote the Maker. I am not knocking it. I do think it's a beautiful machine. I really do not see it very much in my social media feeds. I kind of thought that was odd since a lot of my feeds are textile art related. I would think the Maker would be a hot seller. Everyone is still getting Sizzix Big Shot machines. The market Cricut wanted for this machine does not seem to be biting.
Like I said I am not knocking it. My IG feeds are the way I get a lot of my die cutting news. I know what is going on with the Sizzix, Cameo and even ScannCut. I hear about the Explore machines a lot but I haven't heard any Maker news since November. I check daily. What I have seen is that the Sizzix is still getting a lot of purchases whether it's the Big Shot Pro to the little Sidekick. There seems to be a new purchase of a Sizzix machine every day. Silhouette has stabilized in new purchases. I see a lot of business purchasing the machines. Cricut Explore always seems to be the machine that is a gift purchase. The Maker? ?? I hardly see it. I almost forgot the ScannCut seems to be a specialized purchase.
If Facebook groups are taking about the Maker that seems to be a bit insular. They need to market outside of their comfort zone. What am I saying? I have never ever seen Cricut market outside of their comfort zone. They always pick platforms they can control the narrative. I have always been so surprised the machines have done so well.
I am trying to figure out why everyone is using a Cricut for vinyl. It's not even a true vinyl machine. It's a hobbyist machine. Cricut Explore is best for paper projects. To do vinyl with it professionally just seem to be a wise business decision. You want a Cameo or another true vinyl plotter. Not a hobbyist machine. I wouldn't even do vinyl on the ScannCut. Both the Cricut & ScannCut are so limited in that application.
I am sorry all your groups are doing vinyl. I am a paper crafting girl too on my Cricut. The only vinyl I have is that pretty shimmery vinyl, lol. I only bought it because I wanted to make shimmery unicorns for stickers, lol. I was just thinking about this. I don't see a lot of paper crafting projects with the Cricut any more either. I see a lot of vinyl. I see a lot of paper crafting with the Silhouette line but not the Cricut. Wow, I wonder what is going on with that? Once again the Cricut is the worst choice for a vinyl machine. You are so limited. I guess that is where they are wanting to go because they released the heat press machine too. I just never thought about it until you brought it up.
They are going to need to change the hardware on the Cricut if they want to keep up in the vinyl industry. Least they need to release a roller for continuous feed.
Well, I am sad about this too. Cricut is my paper piecing machine. I loved all the cute paper piecing patterns from the days of old. Thank gosh there are so many new digital shops now to fill that void.

I agree that cutting vinyl on the Cricut Maker would really be overkill, unless the Maker is your only machine, and for some people, it would be. I have seen crafters sell their current machines in order to have the money and space to buy a new machine coming out. I am fortunate to be able to have the space for more than one machine, but I have had to be patient and save up when I wanted to purchase a new machine.
I never buy a new release, no matter what the hype, especially Cricut machines. Besides, it takes time to save the money.
For those who may not be familiar with this message thread, I own a Cricut Explore, a Silhouette Cameo, and the Brother Scan N Cut 2. I bought each machine for certain things, and each was bought years apart after watching, reading, and considering my needs and reading reviews about the machines. They each have their strong points.
I have not yet found any one machine that fit all my needs perfectly.
Personally, I don't see the Cricut Explore as mainly a paper making machine. I do see it as an extremely versatile machine, because it can do better with heavier materials than the Silhouette Cameo. I have made it no secret that I bought the Explore for cutting leather projects. It does a beautiful job for that. My Explore cuts pretty much everything I want to cut. The Silhouette cuts *almost* everything that I want to cut. It's nearly as versatile as my Explore, but the Explore is a better machine. It just doesn't have software to match the machine, and THAT is one reason why I mostly use my Silhouette Cameo. I can create anything and everything I want in my Silhouette software. I just don't always have the time for design work, so I have purchased files from Cricut, Silhouette, and SVG Cuts, too.
I use both my Explore and my Cameo for vinyl, as well as both for paper cutting. My choice of machine for the project really comes down to the design that I want to cut, for the project I want to do, and what designs I have purchased vs. whether or not I want to create the design myself.
When I use the Explore for cutting vinyl, it is because I want to cut a Disney design or one of the other Cricut designs that I have bought, and it is most likely to be for cutting heat transfer vinyl. I also use their designs for scrapbooking occasionally. Right now I am working on a Disney album.
While I love the idea of the Maker's roller blade, I am not about to buy the machine just for cutting fabric. I'd consider it if I made a lot of doll clothes, but I don't. I have not done much sewing in a long time. At some point, I hope to get back to sewing more again, but it would be regular clothes or quilt blocks, and I just don't see the Cricut Maker being a high priority item for me, especially since the Explore was promoted for cutting balsa wood and for cutting fabric, too. It's like they want to forget they ever touted that ability of the Explore, but they made sure the new blades would only fit the Maker. That bugged me, even though they may have had a good reason, and not just to try to sell a new machine.
I bought the Silhouette business edition software so that I could design leather projects, then export them in .svg format to cut on my Explore. Supposedly the Cameo can cut the soft leather, but I didn't know that when I bought the Explore. While I have not tried to cut leather on my Cameo, it cuts so well on the Explore that I see no point in cutting it on my Cameo. I'm pretty sure that my Explore would do a better job.
What it mostly comes down to is if I am cutting Silhouette designs, I use my Cameo, whether it is a paper project or a vinyl project. If I want to cut Cricut designs, then I'll use my Explore. If I want to cut a Silhouette design from leather, I can purchase the .svg version to export to the Explore. I cut most of my own designs on my Cameo, unless I need to cut heavier material. My Cameo handles heavy cardstock just fine, and it cuts vinyl well.
I think Cricut was hoping the Maker would be the machine to corner the sewing and doll crafts market, but their limited software also probably limited their sales.
The software has always been Cricut's weak point. It has been Silhouette's strong point.
I wish they would focus a bit more on improving their software, instead of coming out with new machines on a regular basis.
Cricut comes out with new machines on a regular basis, but rarely updates their software. Silhouette updates their software regularly, but do not release new machines as often.

I definitely understand about owning only one machine and the Maker might be the only machine. It sounds like Cricut is promoting the Maker as a vinyl machine and I think a lot of vinyl artists are going to find that machine overkill, limited and not able to grow for them as they gain experience and new business opportunities. Can't wait to see the vinyl artists meltdown once Cricut can't fulfill their promises. They are going to be more angry than their papercrafting artists were. You know how angry we were at them and still are. I save for my machines too. Like you I own them for different reasons. I do admit a lot of times I stand there and look at all my machines and think to myself "Why do I have so many?" I blessed to have them but I also know if I was not a savvy shopper I would only be able to pick one. I know which one that would be, lol. I know I love my ScannCut but it would be the Cameo. That's the best fit for me all around. I should have clarified about the Cricut as a paper making machine. At one time it was the best paper piecing machine. That is what I use the Cricut for is paper piecing. They had the best paper piecing cartridges back in the day. Cameo was doing other type of paper crafting. Both machines had amazing designs but Cricut and those gorgeous, gorgeous paper piecing designs. It was heaven! Cameo has really caught up to Cricut in the past few years for paper piecing designs. Now, we have Etsy stores, etc.... Doll Making. This is my realm. NO, NO, NO to the Cricut Maker. When I first saw the Cricut Maker I had all these ideas for dolling. Then it came out and my ideas went pffft! Yes, you can do simple doll clothes. If you do American Doll clothes it's a decent machine. Couture doll clothing that is not going to happen. This is not my work- The Cricut Maker is not going to handle a pattern like that. The winner machine for this kind of creations is the ScannCut. I can scan my pattern in and be able to cut the tiniest detailed pieces. Of course fabrics it is limited. Pattern cutting this machine is the only choice IMO. A lot of times doll couture artist's design their own patterns and then we cut the pieces out by hand. The Cricut Maker by the time we designed, scanned, let Cricut decide how they want to import the pattern, fix Cricut's mistakes, etc. we could have had the item made, lol. ScannCut I can scan the pattern in, do my basic editing, cut, save the pattern for future use and I am ready to go. If Cricut wanted to corner the doll market they missed it by a long shot, lol. There is no way I am doing couture on a Cricut machine. The only reason I started noticing the ScanNCut was because of the dolling communities and the creations they were making. Now, I am curious and wondering how well the Cricut Maker is doing in the dollhouse communities. I need to wander over to my communities and see the news. I know a lot of miniaturists are snagging Sizzix Big Shots and Cameo's to do detailed doll house work. Plus. the Print & Cut is excellent for dollhouse miniaturists. We can import at scale. That is very important especially when creating for competitions. Cricut hasn't figured out native scale importing or it's something they don't want to bother with. Sizzix Big Shot is popular because of the thin rule dies. We buy a lot of punches to make minatures but now we can buy dies. For example we would buy border dies just for the tiny hearts and not the border. Dies have become a valuable resource for us. I noticed most quilting artists are not leaning towards the Maker. This is what I noticed just on my social media feeds and there might be a group of quilting artists that are making beautiful creations with the Maker. I just haven't been exposed to that. I would love to see it because when I first saw the Maker I just kept thinking of all the beautiful things artisan quilters could create with that machine! What I have seen most quilting artists are using the ScannCut or Cameo. I have seen some beautiful leather creations made from the Cameo. They are very intricate. I think the Cameo has caught up in technology for cutting leather.

amayalylac, you are right that Cricut has some great paper piecing designs. It's the reason I finally broke down and bought my first Cricut (the Expression). I love paper piecing, and their designs made it so easy. I will be using those Disney paper piecings for my Disney album. Not everyone likes paper piecing, though. I remember lots of griping from scrapbookers about all the little pieces, but those tiny pieces really made for a detailed design. Yes, they were very good at paper pieced designs. Some of their more recent Disney designs have been sketches instead of paper piecing. I'd rather have paper piecing designs. I used a few of them with HTV to make the most amazing t-shirts prior to our Disney trip. I appreciate the links to info on those using the Maker for doll related crafting. Someday I would love to get into it, but it won't be anytime soon. I might have to actually connect my Scan N Cut to the computer, if I do eventually get into that. I had not considered that potential application. This was one of the Disney shirts I made using Cricut paper piecing designs and my Explore. I just used HTV (heat transfer vinyl) instead of cardstock.

Though I know no new tools will be coming out for it. It's all about the Maker. Though new colours come out for the Explore every once in awhile. If I want a new colour, I'd just vinyl my Explore. Cheaper. For Christmas I got a Light Pad (for vinyl weeding and my drawing) that is bigger than the Cricut one and was cheaper. Also has measurement lines on two sides. And now Cricut I think has 3 different sizes of their small heat press thingies. So maybe they just want a share of the t shirt decorating market.

Oh but they tweaked Design Space. As in they moved I think 3 things from the left to the right.

I'm not sure what you mean about "native scale importing" but I know many have asked Cricut by with Print then Cut, it can be frustrating. For one thing they claim it depends on what browser you are using and that will depend on how big you can do a Print then Cut. yippee.

scrapnnana I love your Mickey project. It is so cute. OntarioScrapper I think the Cricut is great for hobbyist vinyl and small vinyl projects. The way Cricut is going after the vinyl market they are just going to need to upgrade their machines because they won't be able to compete. They will need to make their software offline at some point. They will need to make a continuous roller adapter. They will need to be able to configure the machine for larger projects. If they can do all that it will be an amazing vinyl machine. Right now it is way too limited. The consumers they are going for now will upgrade to a machine that will fit their advanced skills in the future. I laughed so hard about the Design Space upgrades. I was so excited when they showed me the little box that led me through the tutorial for the new features. Then I finished the tutorial and thought to myself "Do they think I am five?" Then I started laughing. Cricut and their upgrades, ROFL! Native scale importing. For example I make some small flowers at 1/4". I make those flowers in Inkscape (for example). I save my file as an SVG. I import my file to Silhouette Design Studio and it imports at 1/4". Cricut I have to upload to Design Space. It converts my file to Cricut algorithms and then imports my file to Cricut's native sizing. I have to resize everything again. When you are making miniatures, that is a hassle and a lot of errors too because of the Cricut algorithm. When I do import files from other programs such as MTC, Silhouette Design Studio, SCAL my sizing is kept in correct format. Cricut's software does not read that way. I am not knocking Design Space for this. It is the way they wanted to write the program. That is fine. I think it's important that people who need native sizing realize the software does this so they can make informed decisions on what cutter they should buy. I don't really like recommending the Cricut for miniature or scale modeling. I tend to recommend the Klik-n-Kut, Silhouette or other native algorithm plotters. I love Print & Cut on Cricut. It is flawless. I do not like I can not cut full page, do an offset, or 600DPI and above. I make stickers. Sticker paper is expensive. The browser limitations are a big problem. If I am printing on printer paper I don't care about the limitations. If I am printing on sticker or glossy paper then I care. I use my Cameo for Print & Cut. I tell everyone my Cameo is my sticker maker. If Cricut can upgrade those features in the future it is going to be an amazing Print & Cut machine. I really, really hope they do. Cricut news and gossip. I went to Hobby Lobby tonight. I was so excited to see a Red Cricut. It was on the end cap and I was like it's a Red Maker!!!! I run over there like a little kid, lol. I guess I am five. I saw it was the Explore. I go in the die cutting aisle and I see the lilac Explore. I see the Cameo. I do not see a Maker. I do not see Maker accessories. Then I get all excited because there is Hello Kitty vinyl. I did not buy any. Then I look up and there is practically a whole wall of vinyl! I am thinking yes, vinyl is the thing now. Hands down, no arguments. I was a bit sad. That's ok, it's the trend. The new vinyls are so pretty. I know a new trend in die cutting will pop up. Right now it's vinyl craze. I can see why Cricut is really marketing the vinyl creators. I do think they least need to add some more vinyl features for their machines so they can have longevity with that market. Where did Hobby Lobby hide the Maker's? I scoured my store. I wasn't going to buy one. I was just curious. Maybe, it was just my store that decided it was something they don't want to sell. I thought it was odd. To be fair there was a lot of things missing at my Hobby Lobby. I think I have outgrown Hobby Lobby and will need to do my craft shopping online now.

OMG, @amayalylac, are you into dollhouse miniatures? My BFF and I were totally into that before we had kids. We even went to shows and traveled around New England, dragging - umm, I mean bringing - our husbands along on "vacation." I've made several dollhouses and used to subscribe to Nutshell News and Miniature Collector. I think I still have my magazine collections somewhere in the basement. Thanks for sending me down Memory Lane. Those are happy memories, indeed.

Don't get too excited about Cricut vinyl. I needed yellow for a customer and had run out. Didn't have time to order online so went to Michael's. Biggest mistake ever. That vinyl was horrible to work with! It was their yellow permanent stuff. Maybe some of the other vinyl is okay. though I have read other stories of Cricut vinyl not being the greatest.

riversong1963 I love dollhouse miniatures. I love to make them. I love making tiny items. I love everything dolling. I collect dolls- ball-jointed and fashion. I love to make doll couture clothes, I dabble in OOAK dolls. Miniatures are my greatest love. The one I don't dabble in is dollhouses. I like making things for dollhouses, just not the homes. I love looking at them. I did the regional shows when I was younger. I really need to start doing them again. I miss it. OntarioScrapper I don't know if the vinyl I was looking at was Cricut. I just know my Hobby Lobby had a lot of different brands of vinyl. I just saw Hello Kitty. That's all I was thinking! I know you don't have Hobby Lobby in Canada. No worries about me being disappointed in vinyl. I don't use it. It was something I never got into. I tried some sample pieces I received from Cricut many moons ago but that was it. Girls I have another funny mat story. I have a really old Cricut mat I cut up to use on my ScannCut. I decided to restick it today because it lost it's stickiness. I had to restick my ScannCut mat too. I have had my ScannCut mat for a year and this is the first time I had to restick it. I hope that eases some who read reviews that the mats suck. I use my ScannCut heavily too. My DH helped me with my mats. He took the Cricut mat & I took the ScannCut mat. Taking the sticky off the ScannCut mat was so easy. My DH who is super strong was really putting some elbow grease trying to get the sticky off the Cricut mat, lol. He even went out to the garage to try different things. He comes back in and he tells me he got a lot of the sticky off but the mat is still sticky. It was stuck to his hand. Moral of the crazy Cricut mats even when you clean them well and try to get the sticky off they become sticky again, ROFL! My ScannCut mat turned out very nice after I finished it. I am really happy with the results. I told my DH not to worry about the Cricut mat. I had it for almost ten years so I think I got my use out of it. Ten years and tonight was the first time I had to restick it. Cricut and their glues, ROFL!

OntarioScrapper, the older Cricut vinyl was not as good, but they supposedly switched to Oracal. Yellow is not the most popular color, so I am wondering if you got an older roll? Although I use Oracal vinyl as much as possible, I have used Cricut vinyl many times with no issue. I needed some pink permanent vinyl recently for a Valentine's Day project, so I got a roll of the Cricut vinyl at Hobby Lobby. No way was I going to use the Hobby Lobby's Paper Studio brand. Although it didn't say Oracal on the back of the Cricut vinyl, I had no problems with it it's not the first time I have used it in a pinch. I am curious as to what problems you had, if you don't mind telling us? amayalylac, you have the funniest stories! You evidently use a different process for making your mats sticky again than I do. I do not try to remove the previous adhesive. I just wash the mat, and once it's dry, I apply Zig 2 way glue with their fat pen, although I have sometimes used repositionable spray. My process works okay, but do you mind telling us your process for making your mats sticky again?

scrapnnana This is the tutorial I used for gluing- www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJjhBLV_ql0&feature=share It worked out great. I am very happy with the results. Taking sticky off I sprayed glass cleaner all over the mats and let it set for a few seconds. YT videos I watched recommend Windex. I used Dollar Tree windshield wiper cleaner. I usually use vinegar to glass clean. I don't own glass cleaner so I stole the windshield wiper cleaner from my husband. I know some use GooGone but the fumes trigger my asthma. Awesome is highly recommended too. Those are the three popular cleaners to strip your mat. Then I took a thin paint scraper and scraped the mat clean. The glue just rolls off. I also had a wet soapy cloth next to me to wipe down the mat as I worked. I also seen videos people using baby wipes to clean the mat. A soapy dishrag worked great for me. Then I let the mat dry for a couple of minutes. I used the above tutorial for gluing. Thirty minutes later I had a lovely mat that is the perfect stickiness. I am very happy with my results. The whole cleaning/gluing process only took about fifteen minutes at the most. I was going to use Awesome cleaner but I can't find my Awesome cleaner. I think somebody stole it and the thief looks like my husband. When I asked him he can't remember where he put it if he took it. The moral of my DH's garage. He had to ask me the other day where he put something in his garage, lol. I think Awesome cleaner would work better for Cricut mats. I am going to try a Cricut mat when I replace my cleaner this week.

Earlier this week I was saying how Cricut needs to add some more vinyl functions if they want to stay in the long game with this market. I was over at Brother's site tonight. I noticed they have a new roll feeder. This was one of the items I wrote that Cricut needs to add. canvasworkspace.brother.com/en (Scroll down a little bit to find it. Picture is next to the cute Mickey & Minnie Pillows Brother's roll feeder- www.amazon.com/Brother-CADXRF1-ScanNCut-Roll-Feeder/dp/B07K22LS8KJulie's official video- www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjFQfsJLtU8Side note for SnC users I think this is for the new machine. I am not trying to sale anyone on the SnC. I was writing earlier this week about features the Cricut needs to add and this was the perfect example of what I was talking about. As you can see by the price point it is an affordable accessory. If Cricut could add a roller adapter to their machine then they would make a great vinyl machine. I feel like if they add this kind of feature they could take the vinyl market. Right now the vinyl capabilities on the Cricut are limited.
Little bit of Cricut personal news. I have started my Spring cleaning early. I do a large garden every year. I always start my cleaning in February. Every year I take my art projects to look through them to see how I have grown as an artist and what tools I use the most. I do this so I can upgrade and declutter intelligently. I noticed for the year of 2018 I used my SnC the most for normal every day die cutting including paper piecing. Once again not selling anyone on the SnC. I like the Cricut and I think it's a great machine. I do recommend it.
I was so surprised by my findings. I am even doing my paper piecing on my SnC. Then surprisingly I used my Cameo the most for advanced digital art that I create. My SnC was my primary machine and my Cameo was my advanced machine. That was a first in over a decade. I always relied heavily on my Cricut for primary machine. I think I am outgrowing my Cricut. I am still trying to wrap my head around that, lol. I even told my DH about it and he was floored. I think it's a good thing personally for me as an artist because where I am in my own art skills. That's pretty exciting. I am going to be taking a big Cricut break so I can concentrate on advancing my digital skills. I have decided to use my Cricut as my backup machine in case my Cameo or SnC breaks until I can replace. I am going to be upgrading my Cameo.

Where do you order from? I'm in Canada. I order from happycrafters.ca Vinyl can be pricey in Canada so it's a great online store. They have a physical store in Brampton, Ontario. Since I order online I look for their deals and free shipping.
