marysue63- I store my deep cut blade housing in that little compartment area too. I also keep my deep cut blades in the little blade holder so they won't get mixed in with my other Cricut blades. The other compartment I store my Cricut scoring tool and one of Cricut's markers. My machine came with a free marker. Also my adapter to write with is in one of those compartments. I got the Cricut with the single blade housing and not double. Most of my inspiration comes from Pinterest, YouTube & Googling. In other Cricut news I put the Explore through a lot of work this week. I finally got fed up with Microsoft Edge and went to Google Chrome. It was a lot easier. I know everyone's computers are different. Some of you might find Chrome a nightmare and Edge better. I put my Windows 8 computer back in my art studio. It was just becoming too much of a hassle to take my Windows 10 gaming computer in my art studio. Of course Windows 8 does not come with Microsoft's Edge. I downloaded Google Chrome and it worked great with my Explore & Win 8 computer. I tried Chrome/Expore on my Win 10 gaming computer and got the same results. That's because Edge is not compatible with Design Space. It must be very different from the other browsers because it doesn't seem like the Cricut Tech crews are going to make it compatible. I don't know anything about Edge.

I'm sorry, but I have one more question. I downloaded the Cricut app onto my ipad, but I can't seem to link my cartridges, is that correct? Should I just use Design Space (which I have no experience with) and forget about the app? What's the advantage of the app? Is it just me or is the Explore just way more complicated to get started on? When I got my Expession I was able to use it right out of the box and never felt the need to use any of the software programs. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do... I'm just a simple girl, trying to cut out some simple letters! That's correct. You can not link through the app. You can always link through Design Space first though. The app you also can't upload your images, you have to do that through Design Space first. The app does not use Flash so it is not glitchy like Design Space. I have used the app before with DS was acting up and all I needed to do was get into my project to cut it out. So the app was helpful in that aspect. The app is suppose to be good for if you aren't home and want to design I guess. Though unless they do make it offline (they say they will) you still have to be connected to the internet to design. So it's not quite like a Gpysy. Yes, since the Explore can't be used on it's own, it is a bit of a leaning curve. They advertise that it's simple and ready to go but you do have to learn how to use Design Space so it's not simple and ready to go. I Youtubed a LOT! And this was coming from using Craft Room with my E2! YouTubers I like are ScrappyDIVA and Lorrie Nunemaker. There are crafters who like Melody Lane but for me her voice gets on my nerves and half the time she is just not ready in the videos. After leaving her videos alone for awhile I had to figure something out and she had the video for it. It involved using the printer and half way through she said she hadn't set up the printer. I just couldn't understand why she just didn't redo the video after she had it all set up. I'm a visual person, I have to SEE what you are talking about.

Thanks for pointing out that Edge and DS aren't compatible. I don't use Edge, but it is installed on my laptop, so it's good to know that I need to stick to my Chrome.

Microsoft Edge IS VERY compatible with Design Space. I was told by Cricut Support to use either Edge or Chrome but not to use Firefox. I don't think Cricut Design Space would work with other version of Internet Explorer since that is a dead browser. I have no clue if would work on browsers like Opera. It does work great with Edge and Chrome. I have been using Microsoft Edge since February to cut with Explore/Design Space. It cut wonderfully & fast. I really had no issues with the browser itself, only the software. I switched to Chrome and found it was a bit more seamless than the Edge. I think the reason is that Adobe is integrated in Chrome. Firefox & Edge Adobe is standalone. Adobe would need to update on it's own but with Chrome it updates with Chrome. No worries for those who use Edge and don't want Chrome. It works fine. It really truly does. I just found Chrome easier to use for me, personal quirks but nothing technical. I hope I cleared up some misunderstandings about Chrome/Edge that I might have wrote earlier. Once again Microsoft Edge does work with Design Space. It works great. Don't be afraid to use it. The tech girl said to me "Why are you so resistant about using Edge?" I told her "I don't want to use 20 billion browsers to do different things." Then she told me that they recommend using Edge or Chrome. Firefox just has a lot of issues with Design Space. marysue63- I am a simple girl too. I think that is a lot of the reason about the grumblings of the Cricut Explore because it's not as simple as the other Cricut's. There is a learning curve, especially for us long time Cricut users who have long time Cricut habits. I think even more so if we have also used the Gypsy. Don't you worry about doing anything wrong. There is a learning curve to the machine. I do wish it was as simple as cutting letters from the old Expressions too. Oh, the good ole' days. I do know that many new Cricut users just adore the Explore and how simple it is to use and look at other die cutters completely flummoxed. It is much easier to use than other die cutters when you have no training and completely new to the die cutting world. This machine is quite the Catch-22, lol. Learning from YouTube videos subject- I look for YouTuber's who are not known in the Cricut world. I feel they are more honest in their videos. They are learning from scratch. I don't really trust the videos from Cricut sponsored users because I feel they are biased and an infomercial. I feel like that about a lot of products I use when I am watching YouTube videos. I need to see the fails as much as the successes.

amayalylac, that is odd about Edge. Every Cricut FB group I am in has the experts saying it doesn't work well. At some point when you get to the cut screen, big blobs appear on the screen. There was someone just today who was showing her screen shots. Edge had been working fine for months for her. I have also read posts from crafters where Chrome worked but not Firefox and where Firefox worked and not Chrome. Honestly I think there are too many variables with computers for DS to work the same for everyone with one browser.

This post I found in Off the Mat on Facebook from the CEO. Looks like changes are coming to Design Space hopefully to make it more stable. This was in responsible to someone expressing her frustration that there is still no app for Android users:
Dear Cricut users
I completely understand the frustration of our android users and am sorry for that.
We have 3 separate efforts in the company on the software side. They require different skill sets so one set of resources for the most part cannot help the other.
We are making a massive revamp of Design Space for PC and Mac that removes most dependency from Flash. This will streamline and make the user experience even better.
We have another team working on iOS. iOS is a very easy platform to develop for and hence the speed of new features that you are seeing.
We have another amazing team on Android. We started that effort a year after we started iOS because in a survey majority of our users were on iOS at the time we did the survey. Android is a much more fragmented and complex platform as there are too many versions of android and too many device types. We have been working hard and are committed to launch it once we feel that we have resolved many bugs. We are about to have a beta on Android and several hundreds of users have signed up to help test it. The first version of android will not have all the features that the iOS app has. But over time, the two apps will hopefully come close in feature set.
I apologize that this is taking time but we want to make sure that we develop a quality app as it will create more frustration if the app was buggy. The team and I are frustrated as well because we would have loved to launch it so we are adding more resources and working harder.
Thanks all for your understanding and patience. And again apologies how our android users feel.
Best Ashish Arora (Cricut ceo)

I never had big blobs cutting with the Edge. It always cuts so nicely for me. I don't like the Edge as a browser so I didn't really like using it with my Cricut so I switched to Chrome. I have never been able to get Firefox to work on either one of my computers with Cricut Explore. Oh, Grrrrr I found that so frustrating. I almost took the Explore back just for that issue. I hate complications and I just do not want to deal with multiple browsers, debugging bad programs when the big companies can't fix them. I have had to do this all my adult life as a computer expert. I am out of that world now. I am a burned out on it. I just want to make pretty things. I feel like that about a lot of my tech things at the moment. I am computer geek curmudgeon, lol. I can use Firefox & Design Space. When I get to the insert image button. It is greyed out. Everything else works fine. This issue is on two computers. It makes no sense, lol. I have tried it on two different Window OS versions. It is the weirdest thing ever. Everything else with Firefox and Design Space works up to the point of just trying to use the Cricut images I own. I am sure I could fix it. I am too burned out and tired to care. I am like ProvoCraft can fix it. It could be the way my computer is configured and has nothing to do with ProvoCraft. Life is too short to waste on art not tasks. I will just use Chrome and Edge. The things I do so I can cut out a peacock from the Art Noveau cartridge, lol. I am really glad that PC is revamping Design Space. I do understand the CEO's frustrations. He is probably a computer geek curmudgeon too. You just get to that point. I understand why there are three different tech areas all working on Design Space. Been there done that. I really really want ProvoCraft to release an offline version of the software. The Cricut Explore would be the perfect machine for me if only the software was offline. The online software is my only complaint. Absolutely adore the machine. Dislike the software. My iPad is getting old. I was thinking of going to a Droid tablet for my next tablet. I have been holding off buying my bluetooth adapter for my Explore and using the iPad app for Design Space. I am going to get a new iPad. Reasoning- I want to stick with what I know and not deal with drama's. See above burned out on tech drama's, lol. I am going to get the bluetooth adapter. I am looking forward to cutting wirelessly. Anybody jumping ship and buying a Cameo 3? I have been wondering if there are going to be a few.

I have the Expression, and have never even tried to hook it up to my computer or to a gypsy. Me too. I am impressed with the things people make with the advanced cutters but then it sounds too complicated and overwhelms me so I am just happy cutting from my cartridges.

Is there a place to print out cartridge images on paper (not reprint book) but just for a quick reference?

If only I had looked at this thread earlier!! I bought the Air a few weeks ago. Because my laptop is a bit old and running very slow, I did not want to link with the laptop, but got an Ipad from my son. Then I discover I can't link the cartridges through it, but have to use the laptop. OK. Friday afternoon I set up my log in etc., but it won't link the cartridge. Move on in my life. So yesterday I have the day to get this kind of thing done. I couldn't log in for most of the day (it just kept saying log in failure). Then after 6 pm I can log in, but still can't link. It just kept saying please wait.....how many more days do I need to wait? Right before I go to bed, I thought, let me try chrome instead of edge. And bingo! uploaded all 15 or so cartridges without issue. I was able to access it from the Ipad and typed out a title, but didn't try to cut yet. That may be tonight's adventure. I want to like this thing a lot - but there is this black cloud over me where technology is involved.

Is there a place to print out cartridge images on paper (not reprint book) but just for a quick reference? Try MyCutSearch.com and see if they have anything you need. This is also a good site to find images you are looking for without having to deal with clunky Design Space if you have the misfortune of having to use it.

Yes, the different browsers and different computer set ups can have someone be able to use Firefox but not Chrome and another use Chrome but not Firefox. I bought the blue tooth for my Explore (was the first in the line and didn't automatically came with one, Air came out a few months alter). If I have a project ready to cut and Design Space is being a pain in the butt, I get out my tiny iPod and cut with that!

My saving grace was that I have a gaming computer. Design Space seems to need a lot of RAM to work well. I am hoping their revamp of DS will be getting rid of Flash. That seems to cause a LOT of the problems.

I love my explore air. I love the fact that I can use all of my zig markers using an after market holder which is one of those pencil grips. Cut one side lengthwise and it fits in you do have to remove the holder first. I searched you tube until if found the info. It cost me a dollar at the dollar store. I have the entire set of the markers. Much better than Provo craft markers. The marker that came with the machine dried out after using it a handful of times. I use the right and cut function a lot.

Just a note: Design Space does work with Edge. It's the only browser that works really well with print then cut projects. I was having a horrible time using Chrome, and Firefox wouldn't print. Weird.

riversong963- I feel so validated now, lol. I don't feel like the only Cricut user who uses the Edge. I think Edge prints & cuts better too. It cuts like the Cameo. I had a tiny bit off using Chrome. It wasn't a big deal but I am very detail oriented and noticed. Firefox I will never know how print & cut works because I can't insert an image. Of course ProvoCraft when I tell them to look into it I am told to use Chrome. Ok, sure, not a big deal except for the part that on ProvoCraft's website it says I can use Firefox. What does everyone like about the Explore? I actually love everything about it. My only problem is the software. I am a computer geek so I know I am more nitpicky than most. Trust me, I pick on software all the time from other companies. Yes, Sony I am looking at you and your game console, lol. I do love how the Cricut cuts. It is just perfection. I really do love the Print & Cuts. I like how ProvoCraft does the bleed. When I first saw the bleed I was like this is not going to work. It was magic. I do think the Silhouette machines does have better quality print. If your a professional printer looking for a machine then the Explore might not be the best. There are videos and blogs showing the Print differences on both machines. I do have both machines and noticed the difference too. I use my Cameo for things that are very important. I do like the quality of the Explore Print & Cuts for some things because I think it is a bit softer and for the Kawaii desgins I think it looks more authentic Kawaii. Planner stickers are soooo cute that are done on the Explore. It is definitely what kind of look your going for with your Print & Cuts. I do love that the Explore cuts heavy materials. That is a well made machine & sturdy. I like the blade setup better. I have been die cutting a long time. I did not think I would like the new blade controls. I prefer controlling my blade depths. Surprisingly, I ended up liking the blade controls. I like how easy it is to put the mat in. I like the little guides on the side. My favorite thing is the light. Oh, do I ever geek out about that light. I swear when I first got the machine I did so much print and cuts so I could watch the little light come on, lol.

I love almost everything about the Explore Air. I agree about the bad software. It's very frustrating sometimes, and I know they can do better. I also wish they would offer a way to cut out my stamped images. I had hoped the new Snap Mat feature would be the answer, but I'm still trying to get that to work the way I want it to.

I too am someone who loves my Explore but wish the programme Design Space was better! Too many glitches.
I did see on one of my FB groups that an Explore Air 2 is coming out in October in HSN. Someone in my Misfits group had tried to find answers in an official group and got shut down. So she didn't get any confirmation. I just hope if this is true, they DO NOT have a new programme to go with it and leave us older Explore users with shitty Design Space.

This is why Design Space needs to be offline. Does ProvoCraft give credit when the software/store is having difficulty? I know Playstation & Microsoft Xbox give me credit when I can't get online with their software. Netflix gives me credit when they are having issues. I have never asked for credit from these companies. It was done automatically. Even Silhouette gave me credit one time when their store was down. I didn't know what Provocraft did during their down time.

Being cloud based it can get overloaded especially when there's a bunch of new users! Once we were given a free month. This though was in it's first year with the Explore line. DS was down for everyone and causing major problems. If you buy the Air 2, you get a free year for the subscription. With Design Space you can use it without the subscription though. Subscription just gives you a rental access to all that's in their library. I had gotten 3 months free with my Explore purchase and since the major problem happened doing that period, I had an extra month added on. I have a lot of cartridges so haven't used the subscription since.

I ordered the new Explore Air 2. I have an original Explore, so I'm back several models and several years.
My main reason for upgrading is the built in Bluetooth. I bought the Bluetooth adapter for the Explore because of the layout of my craft room makes it impossible to have the machine plugged into my MacBook Pro. The Bluetooth adapter did not have a lot of very good reviews, but I was desperate. And just like the reviewers said, the adapter is not always effective. I thought it might be my router or location from the router, Explore and computer, but alas, half a dozen reconfigurizations later, I'm still struggling to stay connected.
I'm hoping the newer model with built in Bluetooth will yield better connectivity. The extra speed is a nice bonus. The price, DS sub and low s&h made it very appealing to try the newer machine.

The kids couldn't get consistent wireless upstairs. And it was iffy in my craftroom. Now all is good! So I hope the Explore Air 2 works good for you! I'm hoping DS isn't so overloaded tonight. I really need to finish my project.

I just got back from WalMart about an hour ago. Guess what I saw? I saw the new HSN Cricut!!!! My WalMart only had one and it was the pretty blue one.
I live in WalMart country. My store does get items in before the other WalMart's. They do a lot of test inventory at my store. My thinking is that this is going to be WalMart's Black Friday Cricut. Last year WalMart added Black Friday inventory on their shelves before the sale.
I am also thinking somebody did Express shipping on the Cricut. Didn't like the new machine and returned it to WalMart. WalMart's around here do take other returns. I have gotten Recollection items out of WalMart before, lol. I want to add a note. If somebody did return it in my area it is because they probably thought the Cricut was cartridge based still.
Last year on Black Friday the Explore's sold out. They only got five. Next day my WalMart had four of the Explore's returned. I was the only one who didn't return the manager said. The main reason for return was the machine needed to be online. Most people that live on my side of town do mobile phone Internet and not home. Because home is pricey and spotty out here. I just wanted to add that in case somebody thought something is wrong with the Explore. No nothing wrong with the Explore. In my area it is considered a rich people's thing. Not my words just the crafters in my neighborhood.
Go check your WalMart's because this new Explore might be an early inventory. If you didn't get one on HSN you can try WalMart.

amayalylac - which store did you find it at? I'm in WM country too! I caved and bought the HSN Explore air 2 - I have the original 6x12 cricut and the 12x12 that I've had for years now. I also have the gypsy and I am so sad to know I can't link my carts to the new machine I just bought since they are all linked to my gypsy. I haven't even used my gypsy in quite awhile nor I have I upgraded in years. So I may be SOL as far as using my carts with new air 2. I am excited to get it and use the DS for a year for free though

amayalylac - which store did you find it at? I'm in WM country too! I caved and bought the HSN Explore air 2 - I have the original 6x12 cricut and the 12x12 that I've had for years now. I also have the gypsy and I am so sad to know I can't link my carts to the new machine I just bought since they are all linked to my gypsy. I haven't even used my gypsy in quite awhile nor I have I upgraded in years. So I may be SOL as far as using my carts with new air 2. I am excited to get it and use the DS for a year for free though My understanding is that you can link them to the online program but may have to call to get that done. But I do believe it is possible.

All of my cartridges were/are in my account, including the ones on my Gypsy. The cartridges aren't linked to your machine; they are linked to your account. I have access to all of them via my Explore Air. Have you tried to access them with your new machine?
