TankTop, I love that story! I forgot - I found a "holey" sweater - very off-season, obviously - and a matching tank top to layer it with for $4.98 @ Old Navy. I was just there for the $1 flip-flops. They did not have the right size flip-flops, so I need to exchange them, but they haven't been restocked yet. I can wait for another week or two. Lisa

<<that is an ad(click to enlarge) from 1961 I found online after finding the table and (4) chairs (in the upper left of ad) at my local salvation army. For $39.99 ! Drexel, American Treasury and numbers were stamped on bottom. End number was "61" which makes sense being as the ad is from 1961. All in great shape, worst being a new-ish scratch on table top, probably from moving during donation, but not really deep. The 1st photo is from my phone of one of the chairs. So comfy and I seem to have a weakness for windsor style chairs. ETA phone photo moved! how I do not know but at end now I was thinking of cleaning etc and re-selling but maybe not.... I like. TankTop Love that!

This is not a thrifting deal, and not really inexpensive, but a killer deal. Dh travels a lot for work. He has worked in his industry for many, many years. He has a reputation for being fair, kind, and an advocate for the little guy. We needed our front landscape reworked. I wanted it to look good so I splurged and had someone draw a plan with the intention of dh and I doing the work. The man who drew the plans also gave us an all in cost of $7000 for the whole job. Yeah right. Never going to happen. Months have gone by and we have had no time to work on it. A few months ago Dh ran into one of the landscape contractors he has used a lot. He bought this man and the guys with him lunch that day. No mention was made of our home. This was a different man all together. About a month ago he emailed this guy as we were pricing plants on the plan and could not source one shrub in particular. He asked if this man could order them for us and we would come pick them up. Flash forward to this past Monday. 9:00 pm the man calls and asks dh if he was ready to order those shrubs since he needed to,order the same ones for another client. Dh said, yes, please do. He asked dh to send him the plan that was drawn and the plant list and he would give us a price for all the shrubs. Well....after seeing the plan and the plant list this kind, generous man sent a crew to my house and did it all. Everything. All of it for less than a third of the original cost. Still not cheap, but so amazing. He told dh it was in return for the respect and help dh has always given him and his guys. He wanted to do something kind for him and had a one day lull in jobs. It kept his guys paid, and allowed him to be kind to dh. I am so humbled by his generosity. Dh has been gone all week. I can't wait until he gets home to see it. It sounds like you got a heck of a deal if you got 2/3 off the price. I would pay someone to do my landscaping if they would do it for 1/3 of the price. Shrubs are expensive, I just put a row of them in my back garden and it was over $500 just for 9 of them. I still had to dig the holes and plant them. Save

I had to go out to the grocery so decided to stop by 2 thrift stores I don't often get to. The first has really gotten overpriced which is unfortunate. The only thing I found there was a parking spot in the shade! They had about 10 pre-worked needlpoint canvases, but had new prices on them so I passed on them. The second one I lucked up on 2 handpainted needlepoint cases and a Flamingo Pink Pyrex #221 casserole w/lid. It's been 2 years since I've seen any pink pyrex in the wild so I picked it up for my collection. I definitely overpaid, but I will console myself with the fact that it is mint and they hardly ever show up.
Just for curiosity I checked prices on eBay. Oh my! The bottom seems to have fallen out of the market for pink Pyrex. At one point anything pink (flamingo or Gooseberry) was selling quickly and was pricey. I'm wondering if it is just no one is buying in the summer, or if prices have really dropped. If anyone is adding to their collections, now might be the time to get some good deals. Worth checking into.

I don't get out thrifting as much as I used to, but a week or so ago I ran into the exact IKEA Kvissle letter trays I saw on Pinterest and wanted for storing my paper punches. I don't live anywhere near an IKEA and shipping was crazy expensive so I jotted it down on my wishlist and forgot about them. Lo and behold I found TWO of them at Goodwill! For less than $8 bucks I have 2 units that fit in my expedite (also from the thrift store!) and plenty of room for even my big whale tail punches. Dang, I love the thrift store!

On one of the FB yard sale sites for my area I found all the base cabinets I'm going to need for my kitchen remodel!!! The are solid wood and have beautiful hardware to them. Some of them even have baskets on tracks that slide in and out. The lady I got them from even threw in the cabinet for the rangehood. Total spent: $250 I stopped by one this morning on my way to work and got some cast iron pieces for my blue bottle garden. Three of them are the same and will become chandeliers and the other 2 are the same and they are small bottle trees!!! $25 for all 5 pieces WOW!

Mine's not very exciting, but good timing for me. I'd just decided color scheme for trip, there will be a chill, and realized I didn't have a light spring scarf that worked with what I'd laid out. I was going to add a basic neutral or heavier one. Happened to stop at thrift and found perfect color, silk cotton blend, for $1. It's that raw sorta handwoven look, perfect for my trip wardrobe. With dry clean it's $3 total. Are you taking coordinating pieces to have a variety on your trip? That's brilliant! I would love to see some pictures of the outfits you're putting together.

mine isn't exciting, but I collect Fostoria crystal and found a piece that I hadn't ever seen before at the thrift store. It looked like a basket with no handles, but had little knobby things on the side. None of my pieces are very expensive. So I google it and find out there is suppose to be a reed handle there. I bought it anyways

What fantastic finds you guys have found.
I don't thrift a lot, because our stores are dreadfully over priced. However, when I was in Alaska in May, I went to the little thrift store there and found an absolutely gorgeous, handmade, boiled wool cardigan with hand carved wooden buttons. $13.

A couple of you mentioned fb garage sale pages, any idea how I would go about finding something like that for my area. I'm a fb dork. J They're usually called Swip Swap or Buy/Sell/Trade. If you live in a small town, they may be listed under the next biggest metro-- so "Tulsa Buy Sell Trade" or something. If you live in a big metropolis, many times each city, or cluster of cities has its own. They may also be broken down by types of goods -- furniture, kid stuff, etc. If you can find one, facebook usually starts suggesting similar and then it can snowball from there.

I was inspired to go to Goodwill today. It is a nice new(ish) one. I swear it smells. I have a hard time staying. The only other place that smells worse is Kirklands.

I bought this small metal spinner for $2 at the swap meet today. The price was for the spinner only. It holds my charms packages perfectly and sits great on my shelf. Sorry the pic is so huge. Lol

We are at our vacation house in FL and the Goodwills are so much better than at home in CT.
Picked up a barely used Phillips airfryer at goodwill for $15.99. I had one in my Amazon cart for ages but couldn't justify $200 for it. So glad I waited
Also got a nearly new beach cruise bike for $60. Makes me happy looking at it.

i had been browsing amazon for both and really didn't know which direction to go with either
bed skirt? no bed skirt?
couldn't decide on a curtain - color? pattern/solid?
well three dollars a piece made up my mind for me
i managed to put together a completely different look for this room for about $75 bucks
