Do you find a church to attend when you travel?
We travel/vacation to the same beach area a few times a year. I am thinking about finding a regular church to attend while there.
Would that be weird?

We do sometimes and sometimes we don't. It's always been a positive experience and sometimes we've made some fun connections with people we meet. If it's somewhere you visit regularly I think that it could be really positive for you.

Not at all. Our church has some "summer members." Everyone knows they are with us for a short time and then back home.

Yes - if visiting friends/family, then I go to their church. Otherwise, I will try to locate a PCUSA church in the town I am in and go to that church. If there isn't one, then I will just go to the nearest church I see.

I don't, mostly because DH doesn't go to church with me so while I don't mind going to our church by myself, I wouldn't really want to go to an out-of-town church solo.

We generally go to church when we are on vacation.
We have a lake house and we almost always attend church whenever we are at our lake house. Everyone is super friendly and we feel like it is our second church home now.

We don't go to church on vacation because to be honest, I am trying to cram as much fun into a brief period of time as possible - church takes away from that (though I do feel guilty about it! Lol.) But we also travel to different locations on each trip. If we were regulars someplace, like if we had a cottage, I might consider it.

Yes. About 90 percent of the time we attend one of the 3 hours of our church.
We really like going to church in other countries and locations. We find it interesting and faith building.
Not weird at all!

ETA-we always go early--from 9-10 am. That way we can still have a full day for our activities that day.

I have, but not regularly. It depends on what else we've got planned for that Sunday since my dh and ds don't go to church. The PCUSA (Presbyterian) church in Bethany has the bad habit (in my opinion) of asking visitors to stand up and introduce themselves. Doesn't bother me since I'm not shy and anyway church is my "business" so I can talk in front of anyone. But, it's not something that I think a church should do to visitors.  Last time we were at Bethany I went to the Episcopal church just to see what they were like.  |

As a Catholic, I'm expected to go to Mass weekly unless I'm in an area where there isn't a Catholic church available. So when I'm planning a trip, I find out the locations and Mass times near to where I'll be and make my plans accordingly. I enjoy visiting other parishes. Attending Mass is an important part of my spiritual life and I don't miss going unless it is absolutely unavoidable.
So my answer to your question is that yes I go to church on vacations and I don't think it's weird. 😀

No. Even though I really wanted to last week when we were on vacation. We were in the Orange Beach, AL area and the Florabama bar has church services on Sunday. How many times in life do you get a chance to go to church in a bar?!?! But car trouble put us there too late.

I don't think it's weird it's something my family does all the time. When I did attend church, I liked to take a break from all my commitments. Also church hours are always 3 hours.  |

We do if visiting family. We don't usually if we aren't, but mostly because we have to travel on Sundays most of the time so we can't fit a church service in.

Yes, I go to church even while on vacation. Church is a regular part of our weekly lives. I enjoy seeing the different churches and how they celebrate mass (there can be parish traditions and regional differences.)

Usually. Some places we go to often enough that we have a specific church we visit each time we're there and the church becomes part of the whole trip experience, so to speak. It becomes one more thing that reminds of that particular place.

Growing up, finding a church and going to mass was one of the things I loved about vacation. We went to many beautiful cathedrals in different city's downtown areas. We even attended a mass in San Antonio in a beautiful cathedral that was all in Spanish! We even went to mass in Las Vegas. People put casino chips in the collection plate!

I love going to the Episcopal church every once in awhile because the liturgy is so different from us plain Presbyterians. I meant I wanted to see what that particular church at Bethany was like. |

Not normally... If I am visiting relatives and they are going I will go along with them (Or friends)...If there is some famous church I would be visiting while sightseeing I might go and attend because it is special.. In fact, I did go to church in New Orleans to the church there on the square (or where ever it is... but down there in all the action)

I went to vespers in St Pauls in London on vacation.. was super neat..got to sit in the choir stalls and all casual visitors left.

Pre-children we tried our best to attend when we traveled. We had some of the best faith experiences while on vacation. Seeing the things that unite us in our faith tradition but also noticing some of the local differences and experiencing that. We attended in Hawaii where the pastor wore Hawaiian shirt, in Key West the service started by blowing into a conch shell, a beautiful church across from Central Park in NYC was the least attended service we ever attended. Each experience was different and generally well worth the time.
