Saturday evening...
I can't thank you all enough. Dd had a tough day of travel with the baby yesterday. They both came through it well...I was never so relieved as when she texted that they were on the plane except maybe when I hugged them both at the airport!
We have a big obstacle to overcome...she doesn't believe the relationship was abusive because he never hit her. I suffered emotional abuse in my first marriage and never thought it was abuse until much later. I have a friend and a relative gathering information for resources for her. I know she needs to talk to someone and that's the goal for next week.
She's vacillating between being relieved and being very sad. I'm sure this will all take time. My beautiful girl has absolutely no self esteem left...even since she had the baby in January I see a big difference.
She has a ton of love and support here. Her dad, who wasn't a great husband, is a much better dad to adult kids and loves the baby so much. I saw a look on his face today that I hadn't seen in over 20 years.
It's not not going to be easy but she's going to be just fine.
Thank you all.
My dd and dgd had to flee an abusive situation with the baby's father. They were 1400 miles away and the logistics weren't easy but dd is currently on my couch and dgd is asleep on my chest. I'm so grateful I was able to get them out safely.

Thank you for being a safe place to land for them. There are many women in situations similar and have nowhere to go and no means to get there. I am sure she's got a million things going on in her mind but she knows that she and her daughter are safe and loved.

They're safe and sound w/you. Now you'll have lots more time w/your grandbaby, too. I wish your dd and dgd healing and a calm, happy present and future. May she stay far from the abuser. She'll need strength and encouragement, but you're her mama. She's in good hands.

I am so glad she got out. Please get her in counseling as quickly as you can. I would call the domestic violence shelters around to see if they offer it. Being in an abusive relationship does a number on your self esteem, thought process and other things. Depending on how old your DGD is, I would get her in to. Does he know where she is? Prayers for all of you!
