I declared it a Mexican food night at our house. I made fresh pico de gallo, guacamole and prepped the veggies for steak and chicken fajitas. I have a firm rule that I do not make pico unless I am drinking a margarita. Making this meal makes me happy and I always feel very relaxed. Later DH and I will watch a movie. What's going on at your house tonight?

We had Mexican tonight too! And that always makes me happy!! I threw chicken into the crockpot and since the kids have been really into learning to cook lately, ds shredded the chicken, made hard taco shells for himself and his sisters, and made a quesadilla for dh. He did pretty well, although I had to help a bit because he has trouble working at a fast pace (he has some coordination issues). He was really excited to cook though and that makes me happy. The rest of the night here hinges on whether we go to the local fair fireworks. It's been raining on and off all day and they're calling for rain and possible thunder & lightning right around fireworks time. Me and dh do NOT want to go at all. The kids are on the fence. They really want to go because their friends are going...but they also know it'll be miserable if it's raining. If we stay home, I told dd#2 that she could make cookies. I was hoping that would persuade her to stay home...but so far, no decision has been made.

I am enjoying day three of no men in the house! Everyone left for a family reunion and I am taking care of the dogs. I stopped for Chick-fil-A at three this afternoon and didn't think I need dinner until I saw your post.

We're ordering pizza from our favorite local Italian restaurant and playing cards -- me, husband, son, and my mama. We get pretty cut-throat when we play cards. lol!

Stir-fry night here, as long as the electrify stays on. It's been flickering for a few minutes, but these storms move pretty quickly so I know it'll be gone in 30 minutes or so, just long enough for a glass of wine or 2 before dinner! Not sure what DH has recorded this week, he usually has an old movie or 2 to pick from.

Nothing going on here tonight. I'm watching the Red Sox game right now. I have no idea what we're having for dinner. My son is working tonight and I really should go to the grocery store.

We go out to eat on Satudays and we take turns choosing. My daughter chose Red Robin for tonight. Then we're headed to a bonfire at our friends' house.
I love when we do Mexican food night here. It's one of our favorite meals.

We're watching too! Happy that we're winning currently... I'm so glad that losing streak is over! I've been mostly happy this season with how they've done. Well, not with pitching so much. I can't stand Clay Buchholz, and I pray this is the year he gets traded. Every year I hope, and every year the trade deadline passes and I'm so mad! I love them so much, I have a tattoo that's the shape of New Hampshire with the Red Sox logo inside it.

DH and I had tacos (veggie for me) as an early dinner. We will have popcorn and watch a movie tonight as well. Nice, relaxing day. I really should learn how to make a great frozen margarita!

Ohh that looks good. Stir fry and veggies. Goin super light tonight. Watching movies and hopefully a dip in the pool too cool off. (if I'm feeling good later pain wise) other wise it will be Dh and the dogs! They've loved getting in right about this time a day to cool down. The dogs get hot and bothered and it wears them out too!

DD is coming home for a few days with some British friends she met working at her summer camp. I am about to go to Trader Joes for food, and will probably end up making homemade mac and cheese. Mexican food would be a good idea, too. Hmm...
I have no ideas what to feed them or what they will like. One is a vegetarian. I hope they like regular American food. Maybe I should at least get some tea. If I had thought ahead of time, I should have started a thread for suggestions!

We are watching re-runs of The Impractical Jokers and may get into the chocolate-chip ice cream later. Life in the fast lane.

Wright is decent, so is Porcello...Price, when he's on, he's on...but he's not always on. And you're right Buchholz, ugh. He just needs to go. Sounds like a VERY cool tattoo!!

we have chuck eye steaks on the counter thawing to be cooked on the grill. Along with that we'll have fresh corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. Might open up a can of ranch beans to go with.
Popcorn for later sounds good. We will spend the evening watching reruns and news.

Looks and sounds amazing! Dh said he'd smoke or grill meat, he got at least 3 kinds at Costco yesterday so it'll be a surprise. I'll probably make a salad to go with it, and maybe some kind of rice. I've always been really bad at making delicious rice but lately I've experimented and had great results, the other day I forgot tomato sauce so I used Chipotle garlic salsa in my Mexican rice and it was my best batch ever!

I made shepherd's pie...takes about 2 hours but SO worth it! One of YDD's friends came over with her mum this afternoon to pass off some outgrown clothes to YDD - I was just about to start cooking so the mum and I chatted in the kitchen while I got dinner started while the girls played.
My MIL is visiting for the week which is nice - a trial run for her moving in with us later in the summer possibly (she's currently living with our niece and their family because she needed more care than I could give - niece is a nurse - but she's doing much better).

Happiness in my house tonight--my son just this week got out of the Navy and arrived home late last night. He's been in Japan for almost 4 years, and it's the first time all of my children have been under my roof for a year.
I made his favorite dinner, my kids are all having fun playing Guitar Hero, it's loud as heck in here, and I am loving every minute of it.

Well since I didn't make it to Spidey's for Mexican we ordered Thai for take-out. Several months ago we had planned to get Wolf Trap tickets for tonight (Wolf Trap is an outdoor concert venue where you can buy a ticket to sit on the lawn... you bring a picnic, which can include wine, and if the weather is nice it's lovely -- and if the weather is not nice it's an adventure, lol) -- they were showing one of the Indiana Jones movies while the National Symphony plays the soundtrack. We've seen all the Lord of the Rings movies this way and it's a lot of fun. But once dd had her knee surgery we realized that it would have been difficult. They do have wheel chairs and a spot for the chairs, but we would have had to bring lawn chairs to sit with her and then the picnic wouldn't have been the same...etc. Plus it's blazing hot and you have to get there pretty early, before the sun goes down. So we nixed that plan. But since she was disappointed we told her to pick the take-out food and we'd get whatever she wanted and watch one of the Indiana Jones movies at home. She picked Thai and "The Last Crusade".

Any are welcome! We made plenty of food and tomorrow will be leftovers. Also, today's pico will go in a blender and become tomorrow's Bloody Mary mix.
