I'm shocked that these were published in the New York Post. I thought Rupert Murdoch was friends with Donald Trump.

I'm sure there's no one who regrets those photos as much as Melania does. Or maybe that's me projecting my own feelings onto the situation.
Nonetheless, the photos were done long before she ever knew the opportunities life would put in her path. (Note to young ladies re: the warnings about social media "following" you forever -- emblazoned loudly by this circumstance.)
I think it's unfortunate because I do think it takes away some dignity, but I will hold her much more responsible for the decisions she makes from this point forward. At this point she KNOWS what's at stake and she may possibly be representing our country. If she were to become first lady, I expect her to hold that position in the respect it deserves.
And for the record, I believe Michelle Obama has.

You do realise that was 21 years ago, in a different life and at a different time, right? No I remember when I was in college I thought to myself better not pose for playboy in case I ever marry someone that becomes President. But see, there is a whole generation of us that looked at differently. We are the daughters of the fought for their rights to be independent of our fathers, our husbands. We are the daughters that explored the world just like the boys did. We rebelled against the status quo and double standards because our mothers told us we could be ANYTHING that we wanted to be. And coming from that, I didn't particularly care what people thought. If Playboy had of come to my school for the coeds of xxxx college, I would have taken off my clothes too. Because I could. Not because I was worried about my future, I would have done it with the knowledge that if my future husband had an issue with it, then he wouldn't have been the husband for me. Of all the faults of my ex-husband, judging me on who I was before we met was not one of them. He didn't care one itty bit, and in spite of his career choice-fired one up with me on more than one occasion.

I will say, however, she PALES in comparrison to other First Ladies ...smart, accomplished women. Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Barbara Bush... Even Hillary Clinton. She's very beautiful....yeah, yeah, yeah... Not really impressed. Doesn't she speak 5 languages? She also has her own product lines she sells on QVC. That's probably more than Laura or Barbara Bush before they became first ladies.

As for Melania Trump's jewelry line, it was cheap knock-offs of expensive pieces that she already owned-- and they were reviewed badly. Let's not pretend that she would have been given that opportunity if she weren't Mrs. Trump. Also-- I cannot find anything currently offered on QVC. I'm not saying she's a horrible person-- just not someone I particularly admire.

I can't stand Donald Trump and wouldn't vote for him if he was the only person running, but I don't feel what Melania did when she was 25 has anything to do with his qualifications for the presidency of the US.

I like it when women support other women instead of shaming them. She was young, single, and hot, and probably out making a living. More power to her.

What he hell! First of all, I didn't need to see that and second I'm not voting for Trump, but it has nothing to do with nude pictures his wife took over 20 years ago.

I have made it clear here that I am no Trump supporter. But I will say that this kind of article is gross. First of all, she's not running for office. Second of all, her posing nude for anything would not reflect anything about her ability to lead or mental acumen. She isn't "slutty" for having posed nude, or even if she was promiscuous, that's a very gendered slur. Trump has been married 3 times and has a known history of philandering. If you're interested in someone's marital commitment and use that as a proxy for leadership, that's enough info right there, no need to bring Melania's past modeling work into it. Do. Not. Like. If Hillary has posed nude, I wouldn't support her any less as it is completely irrelevant. This isn't personal librarylady and I get where you're going with it, but the fact that this article was written is not okay. I completely agree. I'm a Republican (or at least I was before this election!), and trust me, this is not even a blip on my radar. There a so many reasons to dislike Trump, but his wife isn't one of those reasons for me. I'm a Christian, but I don't feel the need to judge others. I've done plenty of things in my past that I wouldn't want to make the front page news now. Anita

Not a blip on my radar. I do think it's funny that the hard right evangelical Republicans have nary a word to say when they would be totally blasting any Democratic candidate's spouse for something similar.
Personally I'm too much of a prude to do that ever but as long as she was not coerced into taking the pictures I don't care. I don't think it has any bearing on her ability to be First Lady.

Ugh! Many will say how beautiful they are of a women's body, she was a model, she had to make a living, blah, blah, blah. Just embarrassing for the U.S. of America. They are already saying its art. Mmmkay...

I am not sure if it is possible for me to care less that the possible future wife of the POTUS posed nude two decades prior to her becoming first lady.

and while I am not sure who I am voting for yet.. we will have a "first man" who was sexually inappropriate with a young employee while president. Lots of skeletons in/out of closets.

M'eh, what the spouses have done are not part of my consideration. I'm voting for the actual person's ability to run our country, not how nice or smart or good looking their spouse is. I don't care that she posed naked for some magazine (although any copies of those will be worth more money now) or that Bill Clinton had affairs. I'm more concerned about Trump's past actions and track record vs Hillary Clinton's record.

I'm shocked that these were published in the New York Post. I thought Rupert Murdoch was friends with Donald Trump. Gawker.com is speculating that this was done deliberately to take some attention away from Trump's comments about the Kahns. It doesn't seem to have worked, probably because nude pics aren't that big a deal to most people anymore. I think I would have been more surprised if there weren't nude pics of Melania out there.

Someone said at least it wasn't Trump posing, well there's a piece of art that is a portrait of him posing in the nude. It's called Make America Great Again. Horrible visual.
We do hold high standards for people in office leading this country. There's been a couple Congressman who had to resign when shirtless photos of them on craigslist popped up.
I remember a long time ago a news anchor who was in her 40s and married went to the Caribbean and did a wet t-shirt contest. This was before iphones and someone took her picture and she had to resign.
If Trump had the pictures released on purpose to cover up what he said to the Khans, it's despicable that he threw his wife under the bus like this. She goes to a lot of events and I'm sure she's blushing to have to look people in the eye now.

What says more to me about her is that her personal website was taken down because she had posted on there that she had a degree from a college that turned out to be a lie. I'm on my phone and can't link on this darn thing but it's easy to find - CNN had it so it's on reliable sources. Naked in her younger days? Should have made better choices. Flat out lied on a website when your DH is running for president? Think you're untouchable? Should have known better.

Laura Bush was a teacher and librarian... So she holds a special place in my heart. I know, but it's not like it's a unique career to have. I thought you were saying they had done something significant that set them apart from most women.

This is such a non-issue for me in light of all the other HUGE issues with the candidates.
It's not like she's fingering herself or being mounted by a donkey. Who cares.

No I remember when I was in college I thought to myself better not pose for playboy in case I ever marry someone that becomes President. Lol, I never once thought about what my future husband night think. But considering the hard work I was putting into my school and career I certainly thought about impression on future employers, being taken seriously in a male dominated field, etc. Posing nude as a show of freedom is such a crock. Who benefits from that freedom? The men who enjoy the photos and the men who sell them. But ALL of that was my choice with the options I had in front of me. Maybe it's what it took to launch a more stable career. Her country wasn't exactly in economic boom at the time, was it? Even she were wealthy it was her choice to make. I don't think for one second these photos are coming out for any reason but ugly politics. I'm not a Trump fan, but this is a low blow.

I will defend Melania for this. I hate slut shaming. I hate double standards. This was from a long time ago. She did nothing illegal. I hate everything Donald Trump stands for.
