Made Burning Feather's Italian beef in my stove top pressure cooker tonight. Mmmmmm! I always have to use a substitute recipe for the onion soup mix. But it always turns out great!!!

Update on my beef and broccoli! So delicious! This was my first time making something that wasn't just set it and forget it - had some extra browning/sauteeing steps. I made the rice first, and then set aside. Browning the meat was probably the most laborious part, but I didn't put in many pieces at a time because I was nervous, haha! Plus, I realized I bought chicken stock instead of beef... So I had to improvise a bit. But overall it was a success! I loosely followed this recipe www.pressurecookingtoday.com/pressure-cooker-beef-and-broccoli/This looks so good!

The first time I made it (which is the only time so far, lol) I did the shortcut that the recipe suggested which is to brown the entire piece of meat first and then slice it. But that also was a pain because I can't seem to figure out how to saute without burning/sticking. So I'm just going to skip that entirely this time. No one in my house will know the difference and it will save a lot of aggravation.

I'm looking for something like this: Attachments:

I cooked the rice on the stove while the beef was cooking. I did the broccoli in the IP for 0 minutes before I started the recipe for the rest - the directions say to put it in the microwave, but I didn't see the need for that. (When I cook rice on the stove, I do it like pasta - lots of water, timer set for 13-14 minutes, drain when done)

Mmmm, I love salmon. That sounds good! I've not made any fish in the IP, does the fish smell come out of the ring well enough in the dishwasher so it doesn't permeate other savory foods? I'm the only fish eater in the house, that wouldn't go over well. I ran a cycle of water with Palmolive pressurized for 5 minutes. The stainless insert came out great, it just needed a quick scrub. It may have helped with the seal too because I didn't notice it smelling really fishy. ^^^ this is a great idea!! I've never noticed the seal transferring any odor / taste to the food, but doing this once in a while is probably a good idea.

What color(s)? Do you want lightening to be yellow and outline of circle black? Or all black? I found out that my husband tossed a bunch of my vinyl, so it will take a week or so for the vinyl to get here. I like to use real vinyl, not the silhouette stuff that you can buy at Michael's, so order on line and have to wait for it to get here.

I want to cook one of my Frontier Soup mixes. Is there any reason I can't sauté what I need to, put all of the liquid in that's required (10 C beef broth, 29 oz can diced tomatoes) and then set the pot on manual for the time needed to cook dried beans? (As you can see, I'm still sticking closely to instructions and can't wing it yet! ).

Great! Thanks! I was already reducing the broth because I only have 8 cups on hand, but you are right, it really makes sense to do that since it isn't reducing on the stove.

I made risotto for the first time tonight and it turned out perfectly! I had some leftover Honey Baked Ham in the freezer and decided to stir in diced ham, frozen peas, and parmesan cheese after cooking two cups of the risotto for 6 minutes. Yum.

I don't know why they put their name on that stuff - it is positively terrible. It really would be much better if they bought Oracal and sold that instead. They might make less profit per sale, but they would have a much larger amount of sales.

I made a big pot of black beans this afternoon. And then, this evening, I used both pressure cookers for making 2 full racks of ribs. I finished them off in the oven. My gosh, the IP makes the. Best. Ribs. We all have happy tummies tonight.

I love the beef and broccoli. I need a different cut of meat, I think. It wasn't as tender as a roast might be. I loved the sauce and the rice and broccoli with sauce could have been a meal by itself.
I need another pot though so I can make something right after a meal. I'm ready to try banana bread!!

My IP definitely got a good workout tonight! On the way home from work I realized I didn't have a side for with dinner (avocado caprese chicken) so I whipped up some mashed potatoes (SO chose those over rice) in the IP. Then I hard boiled some eggs for breakfasts/snacks for the next few days. And then I decided I wanted some popcorn, so I made that too!
Nothing crazy, but definitely more than I would've attempted to accomplish when I didn't have an IP!

We had the beef with broccoli again tonight since my son didn't get much of it the last time (his own fault, he elected to go out with friends after work instead of coming home for dinner. lol) Then we had banana bread for dessert. I just used a boxed mix but I added chocolate chips. 30 minutes, then I was planning for 15 NPR then quick release, but I got sidetracked by the news and forgot it was in there. I remembered after it had been NPR-ing for 28 minutes and by then the pressure pin thingy was down. But, it was THE BEST banana bread we've ever had. o.m.g.

I wonder if it is even possible to really over-bake things like banana bread or brownies in the IP, because there is no drying out due to dry heat.

I was aiming for 15 minutes NPR because that's how I did my first pumpkin bread. The second one I did NPR for longer and the kids thought the 15-minute one was better. I think it was a bit denser or something... But even though this one was even longer on NPR it was the best yet. We're crediting the chocolate chips for the extra fabulousness.

I had the same problem with the beef. I think it was the cut of beef I used. Next time I will use flank or skirt steak. Which cheesecake and banana bread recipes are peas using? Also, can someone recommend a springform pan? I was going to get the Nordicware 7", but wasn't sure if that wider bottom edge would fit in the IP.

I made the shrimp boil last night, turned out PERFECT. BUT, I am still creeped out about the shells on the shrimp. Next time will make with with the potatoes. corn on the cob & sausage, and no shrimp. UNLESS I can add shrimp NOT in the shell.

Oh BTW, I had never even heard of the IP until I saw everyone hear raving about it on Amazon Prime day, so I bought it. After about a week took the plunge and tried it, and have used it almost EVERY NIGHT since. LOVE IT!
