I did this for the first time last year and it was so much fun! Even my husband (who usually doesn't even look at the Christmas cards) always asked if it was a "Pea Card". LOL!

Except mine aren't all different I did make 12 more this weekend so I'm up to 22. And I also worry I will be busy and forget to sign up October 1st. I have a huge (for me) dog show to go to the next weekend out of state and I'm worried I will be so involved in my packing and prep I will somehow not be online and forget

This got me motivated to clean off my craft bookcase...yep, hubby built me a book case or all my craft supplies. In my cleaning I found a box labeled swap and viola I have 30 diffrent cards made and a bunch of paper & embellishments. I must have started at some point, so now onto making a couple a night.

It sounded like so much fun but as much as I would love to participate my DH is adamant about privacy. Having over 100 *strangers* having my real name and address would make him crazy. But I will read the thread so I can see all the enjoyment those who participate will have. My husband wasn't thrilled about it, for the same reason when I signed up last year, but he had to get over it. No crazy peas have shown up at our house, so I feel good about signing up again this year. If you really want to participate, what about getting a P.O box for a couple of months?

I've been meaning to get a PO box for other reasons, so might as well do it now to use it for swapping and card exchanges too. Oh I wish a psycho pea would try and show up at my house, it'd be worth the show. I live on a street full of paranoid retirees and LEOs from a couple local jurisdictions. I shit you guys not, there is an old guy who sits on his porch at the end of the street and watches who comes and goes all day. There's a sign in his yard saying this street is protected by security cameras, guns, and God. Every other house has security cameras out the whoo hoo pointed every which way and you can't pick your nose on my street without a half dozen people witnessing it and documenting it. I laugh at the absurdity of it all, but it is good psycho deterrent. So I don't feel too vulnerable putting my real self out there.

I've got a plan... a few cards a day, a pack of stamps every grocery trip, and I'll be ready to mail come the first of December. Probably half will be homemade, half will be store bought. I'm a Christmas card hoarder. Every year when the holiday stuff goes on clearance, I book it to the department stores and TJ Maxx, and dig through the boxes of cards for really pretty ones. I only send to about a half dozen people every year, so I have a decent little stockpile to work with. My goal is to spread the holiday cheer and de-stash at the same time. Anybody else de-stashing their clearance card hoard?

Anyone who knows my name can google my address. You can also look at my property taxes and see how much I paid for my house. Trust me, your address isn't that big of a secret.

I really couldn't afford another expense at the time. But I kept the swap in mind during the after Xmas sales and purchased all the island-themed ones I could find. So the peas will be getting store bought Hawaiian Christmas cards and my local friends and family will get my handmade non-Hawaiian ones.

Well I was doing so well not shopping for so long. Then I had to run to Michael's for some brown cardstock for another project. They have their 12x12 69 cent cardstock on sale for 14 cents. Of course I thought of all the Christmas cards I want to make and went to town. Yes, I was that person the rest of the line was not happy with

I participated in the swap once years ago and believe me, it was one of the most exciting things that has ever happened to me during the holiday season. I have pulled out some of those same cards to display again over the years. I just kind of placed them in there with the new cards because I don't know, they are special, they make me happy to see them, and they were from the peas. I can't wait to finally get a chance to be on time and to participate again this year.

This sounds so fun! Reminds me of my old scrappy forum back in the day.
I would love to participate but I really need to make sure I can make time to sit and create before I commit. Thanks for organizing @leowife!

Last year was my first year and it was a ton of fun! I didn't make my cards but I hand lettered the envelopes. This year I think I'll break out my calligraphy pen for the envelopes!

I already started making my cards too. I even pre-ordered holiday stamps that don't come out until October. I think this will be fun. I get my mail at a PO Box anyway, since I live in a rural area, so no worries about any stalker Peas!
