I got a couple of pieces from M's on clearance and OMG, I love the look but the unraveling is sending me into a meltdown...I thought this kind of thing was supposed to be fun and therapeutic??? Whoever thought this up must enjoy cruel and unusual punishment!!!!! BTW, twine doesn't work, it's too thick and just falls off...which was not a fun lesson to learn. Happy that it's done but not sure I can deal with the stress and put together the other one. Also, the stencils that came with it suck...the paint bled, so I had to try and salvage the wood by making it look white washed...and washing off white paint from around a billion tiny nails...yeah, that's not easy, either. But it turned out cute and that's what matters, right?!

I would have scrapped the project! Congratulations on having that much patience! Maybe tackle the other one next weekend.

I have never done one of the M's string art projects. Remember doing them years ago with embroidery thread (I think). Seems to me the thread I used was on a ball, and pulled quite easily out of the centre... The hardest part was hammering in all those little nails. But it WAS a long time ago and my memory may be completely off. Would love to see the finished project, scrapaddict702

I wanted to use something other than the olive thread that came with it but couldn't bring myself to use my own floss...so I gave up on the twine and used what came with.

This discussion is giving me flashbacks to my childhood... We had to come up with the design and hammer the nails in (I kept needing to go back and hammer the previous nails a bit more in so that they would all be at approximately the same level, talk about frustration!) then get the string part done. I'm not sure why the teacher thought it'd be a good idea to have 20 or so 7 to 8-year olds hammer nails in class! A lot of fighting over whose turn it was to use the hammer and several trips to principal for ice packs and plasters (small school so no nurse) that day. I doubt the teacher repeated that art project ever again!
