Sickened by the "locker room sex tapes" released by the Washington Post, Ryan scrapped Trump's appearance at the Wisconsin political GOP Fall Fest.

Pence is going to be there instead and Ryan still endorses Trump, so... color me unimpressed.

My thought is that Trump has just been royally dissed by Ryan...I'm good with Pence as a sub--it won't be easy for him either with his running mate being such an asshole!

He represents the district I grew up in. I appreciate him taking a stand in this.

Elkhorn is about 20/30 minutes from here. I didn't even like the idea of Trump being so close. I met Paul Ryan a few times @ local parades, an awards ceremony for high school students that he hosts and such. I emailed back and forth (totally non-political) thanking him for something and taking time out for my DD at ceremony to just chat. Then I lost a bit of respect for him endorsing Trump. Since then, I've seen photos of him looking so defeated/sad and I thought maybe because his heart wasn't really in endorsing Trump but just the GOP stance thing. I can't tell you how happy I am to read what he had to say about the latest vile thing from Trump. Some respect was gained back. I have the feeling he didn't want Trump "in the hood" either. The further away the better. @busypea I agree I would rather he "un-endorse" Trump. But it's a step back in the right direction. I actually didn't think he would endorse Trump and was surprised when he did. Who knows, time will tell. I can't even imagine the pressure cooker he's in.

He's made a positive step. A leap would have been better, but he's moving in the right direction.

I'd rather not be revered. Simply treating me with equality and the respect of being a fellow human being is all I'm looking for. I don't need a champion either. I'm not some princess being fought over.
I think the statement is a little odd and sexist on its own.

He is still having Pence there, so he still supports the ticket. He just want it both ways-support the ticket, but not have to answer any questions about Trumps latest blunder. (I'm assuming it is still the most recent blunder, it's been made hours, who knows what else he could have said or done.)

I'll be impressed when he pulls his endorsement. I'm waking up this morning to see that a few other people have.

It's been the theme of a lot of the Republican reactions to this and it's patronizing. But I'll take it because I'm just so glad they are finally reacting.

Yeah, better than nothing, I guess. I'll applaud him when he rescinds his endorsement of Trump.

Our guy, Mike Coffman, said publicly he thinks trump should step aside.
I think part of it is that being attached to trump could lose him the election, but I am still happy he said it

The only one who did the right thing (IMO) is Utah Reb. Jason Chaffetz. The only one with any balls.

Pence is just a classier misogynist than Trump so he is still acceptable.... Anyone who thinks that you need to add the adjective "forcible" in front of rape isn't a champion for women either. Or someone who thinks that Mulan was liberal propaganda, or that working mothers stunt their children emotionally, or that it should be law for women to have to make arrangements for burial or cremation of a miscarriage regardless of gestation.....

Paul Ryan has a daughter but doesn't have the balls to pull his endorsement for Trump. Anyone who endorses that man is showing you who he is.

I can't stand Trump, believe he's bad for America, and am planning a write in at this point. I have voted Republican for president since I could vote and the thought of him as POTUS makes me sick. While I know it's fruitless, I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils. And don't get me started on the EC.

I agree, and want equality, not lower position or higher on a pedestal. But I'm not going to dismiss any step in the right direction because they didn't word the statement to fit my view, or take it as far as I wanted.

Pence is no longer attending the Ryan event either. I wonder if he is considering dropping from the ticket. I read that he was upset when he heard about the video and that his wife was very angry. I did hear that he was no longer attending, but no reason was given.

Ok I've been a pea too long. From your thread title, I thought someone named Ryan scrapbooked the event and I clicked through hoping to see the finished product in all its glory.
A little disappointed, I gotta say.
But good job, Paul Ryan!

Any other Hamilfans find themselves singing "Never gon' be president, never gon' be president now," over and over again these past couple of days?

Any other Hamilfans find themselves singing "Never gon' be president, never gon' be president now," over and over again these past couple of days? Totally. I have mental images of Hillary playing Daveeds part...you know where he's dancing on the desk. However...do you really think this is going to make a difference? I don't. The only way I see him losing votes is if he came out in support of gun control.

Pence is possibly worse for women than deplorable Drumpf! I wholeheartedly believe that- which is why I worry so much that people (who know nothing about him) will think that he somehow makes Trump tolerable and be able to pull the lever for them. *And actually not just women... pretty much everyone that is not a straight, middle class or higher, white, conservative Christian is on thin ice with his agenda.
