I'm going up there Wednesday, no husband or kids. I only get up there about once year, this time the purpose is to buy a couple tables for my craftroom/office, but I know there will some other necessities that will jump into my funny-rolling-cart.

Everything I adore IKEA so I won't be much help but if you don't have raskog cart, definitely get one of those . I now have three and use them all!! Especially in my craft room. They are very useful.

hazelnut chocolate bars, although they last time I went they didn't have them. That's the only thing I like from there. Dd, on the other hand wants to decorate my entire house with IKEA.

I always need little things. Like dish towels or paring knives. Maybe some little frames, candles, fun stuff. I get lost in the marketplace:)
ETA: chip clips. They're the best!

I buy the pack of stainless steel scissors. They can hold an edge, good deal for the price.

The apple corer/slicer is a good find. We use our cheese grater with storage container attached often. Wooden spoons. Lazy susan for condiments on the table. Recycling bags. I sometimes find good fabric -- wider than US fabric so perfect for quilt backing or duvets. I often keep a few toys from the kids section on hand as gifts. The toilet brush is very cheap, totally functional, and looks fine -- a great deal, specially if you don't keep your toilet brush for more than a year. I got a $10 fabric shower curtain that is really nice-- washes up in the machine, you iron it to reactivate the water proof properties. In a bathroom where we have a lot of trouble with mold this curtain has held up in perfect condition for about 2 years. s

Meatballs, gravy and lingonberries. We like them, too. I swear by the shelf liner. It's clear (which I love), has a texture (little circles), can be cut to size, and holds up great. I have it in some of my kitchen cabinets/drawers (I don't have every shelf lined--just the ones that need it). It can be wiped down easily if needed. I think it's excellent. I've had mine for four years now and it's as good as new. I have some of the Variera storage boxes in my kitchen for storing potatoes & onions. I really like how they look and how they've held up.

My husband and I are going to Ikea next weekend, haven't been there in years, so keep those ideas coming!
We are going to pick up the idea books for a kitchen remodel hopefully early next year. I'm feeling excited!

Everything I adore IKEA so I won't be much help but if you don't have raskog cart, definitely get one of those . I now have three and use them all!! Especially in my craft room. They are very useful. Add me to the Raskog group. I got one in a lovely turquoise color. It's home for my pressure cooker and accessories. The color makes me happy. Also I love to look at the kitchen gadget/utensil section because you never know what will be there. And, last time I was there we were walking to the cafeteria area and right next to it was a small section of various things, and there was a nice thick white terry cloth robe. I have been wanting a terry cloth robe for ages but didn't want to buy it without actually touching it (i.e., I didn't trust any from Amazon that might be too thin). We bought two, one for me and one for dd. Lingonberry jam, of course. We always buy a flat of it -- maybe 16 jars? I love their bathroom rugs. They have five or six colors and are thick enough to be good for stepping on but thin enough to toss in the washing machine. Also they do have some sort of non-slip something woven into them but they don't have that plastic-type backing that so many bathroom rugs have. I hate that stuff because eventually it ends up cracking and peeling. I love Ikea, and not just for their products but also for their customer service. Dd had serious knee surgery this summer and spent six weeks where she was not allowed to put one bit of weight on that leg. ugh. And, it was the hottest summer ever. Her options were limited as so what we could do since she had a hip to ankle brace that was locked at the knee, so anywhere she went her leg had to be stretched out. Ikea gets high marks for accessibility. The handicapped parking was *right there*, the wheel chairs were RIGHT inside the door, the employee who was in charge of the wheel chairs was VERY helpful and friendly, the entire store was easy to navigate, the chairs in the cafeteria can be moved easily and the chair fit under the table, etc. We actually went three times over the summer just because it was something to do for poor dd.

If you don't have a Raskog cart I would get one or two. Make sure you get some containers to hang on the side of the carts. I love the Alex units, I have them in several shapes and sizes. Kallax units are great for storage as well.
If you do get or have Kallax units, check out the drawer units they make for them.
Have fun, I love IKEA!

I second the Alex units I have been lucky to get most of mine from the return section at more than half off the regular price and not a thing wrong with them. Alex is my boyfriend I also love the cheese grating system mentioned above. For giggles go look for the star wars lamps. They aren't called that but they are highly entertaining and fun to play with Some day Im going to get those and the daisy ball looking lamp. I also have several of the wooden lazy susan's that I use in the kitchen and craft area.

Another vote for the Alex drawers. I've had the 5 drawer in white for my sewing room and it is amazingly sturdy. The drawers glide like a dream and it was easy to put together (did it myself).
The other thing I like from there are the Istad storage bags. The larger ones are perfect for storing my sewing patterns in after I've used them. Regular ziplocs are either too large width-wise, or not quite tall enough. They are also good for food, very good quality.
My Ikea is just 2 blocks from my house and I go in there about once a year. After reading some of these ideas, I need to pop in very soon!

I don't know what my kids do with my silverware but about once a year I go to Ikea and buy three new boxes. It's really cheap! I also love the meatballs.

We stock up on batteries and light bulbs. Napkins. Re-usable bags. We like their version of ziplock bags.

Apparently the hanger things are called Bygel, I found a pic here: levanfamily365.blogspot.com/2013/08/pl-organization.html I couldn't find them on the ikea site, maybe they're only in store. One more question.....the store opens at 10, the resturant at 9:30, can I start browsing the store before 10? I have no interest in breakfast, but I do have an interest in getting up there and in asap since I have to be home before the kids get out of school at 2:30 (it's 1.5hrs ea/way).
