It has been recommended to me to file a complaint to the BBB....without giving details, I was wondering if anyone has done this and if it was worth doing?

I haven't filed a complaint, but I used to answer them at a company I worked for. It may help you get the company's attention

I did a while back over a $500 charge from Comcast who tried to charge me for 11 months of internet that was supposed to be included in the special price. Someone we talked to tried to claim that was a mistake and we were supposed to pay extra on top of the package price but somehow didn't catch it for 11 months? Yeah, NO. We ended up getting our money back but it took filing a complaint with BBB to get it.

I haven't personally, but I recently helped somebody file one, it was not a long or complex process.
Like txdancermom, they came across my desk at an old job and did get my attention.
I just was looking for a battery system for camping and the company I was looking at had an "F" rating with the BBB, so I quickly passed them.
It is simple and probably worth your time if you feel that you've been treated unfairly.
Good luck!

I have. It was very easy. I filled out a form and left the information requested and the BBB handled it from there. My issue was resolved within 10 days.

We did when we lived in Texas. A solar screen company took our down payment and never did any work. The BBB's response? Basically, too bad, so sad. There was nothing they could do about it. So my opinion - the Better Business Bureau is a joke.

I did, after the company that did my repipe left the siding off the back of my house and a big hole in the wall in my bedroom and stopped answering the phone.
Got the attention of the president of the company. I was satisfied.

It depends on whether the company cares about their BBB rating and reputation. BBB has no power to make a company do anything. But lack of response or failure to address a complaint affects their rating. So if the company really sucks and has no interest in their rep, it won't do much good. But if it is a reputable company and just not getting the attention of the right person in the company, it can result in a better outcome.

Yes. Companies have to pay a hefty fee to be BBB Certified, so they really want that A rating. Complaints compromise that. I've filed a several complaints with companies through BBB and almost always, it has helped move the situation toward resolution.

I did once. Without going into a lot of details, I got my money back within 3 days after fighting with the company for 5 months. And I'm in TX.

Yes. The company who put in our pool tore the liner when they were working on it and refused to replace it. They wanted to patch it. Um,no... I just paid 26K for this, I want a new liner.
It took a while but we did get a new liner! Thanks to BBB.

I respond to all BBB complaints filed against our company locally. We are no longer affiliated members of the BBB due to the cost. While we always answer the complaints, we are a huge nationwide company in our industry and our BBB rating won't make or break our reputation. I've never received a legitimate complaint in the 10 years I've worked here.

Yes, I did many years ago over a mortgage broker. They had a good rating when I started with them. By the time I complained, they had multiple unresolved complaints. I told the guy at the BBB the broker still had a BBB plaque on the reception desk. He said he'd go get it, LOL. I don't know if he meant it or was humoring me.

So my opinion - the Better Business Bureau is a joke. If the company is not a fee-paying member of the BBB then they cannot do anything.
