Whether you have a small or huge stash, do you get excited to find the perfect thing you need for a page or project?
Do you love shopping your stash first?
Do you sometimes forget you had something and get excited when you come across it?
Tell me a little about your stash and what you love/dislike about it.

So funny you posted this - I decided over the weekend to make my holiday cards out of my stash. I'm going to use up the papers I've had for ages and just get them into layers on cards and then get new stuff starting next year.

I just LOVE having a huge stash to shop, but it's very rewarding to use something up, also! That will be nice to get to shop for new stuff next year!

I also love finding the occasion to use something I've had for awhile. My grandkids got into the Mustangs baseball team where they live. I got to use some old Giddy Up Boy and Giddy Up Girl stuff in my stash!

Yes, I think I actually enjoy the hunt more than the actual page making sometimes. I have a fairly large stash, scrapping for 15+ years now. I still use some things I purchased in my first few years of scrapping and it gives me a lot of satisfaction! Mostly I like finding old scrapbook items to use in other home decor projects or for some other use. Then I feel like "see good thing I have all this." Whatever works!

Last night I left a post it note on my end table to remind myself to hunt down this DCWV pet paper I knew I had. I'm working on albums for my sister and her kids and their pets are in the albums. I just now shopped my stash and found not only those pet papers, but others that will be perfect!
Most of my stash is kitted up. It makes scrapping a breeze for me. I went straight to my boxed album kits. I have one kit for each of our two kitties that we lost in the past year and a half. I'm making my girls and I each a memorial album for both kitties. It's not sad...they want me to make them. We adored them.
Anyway...it was really exciting to find more than enough stuff for dogs and cats to make the pages for these albums!

My stash isn't too big. It's just right for me, though. It's small enough that I remember everything I have in it, so there are none of those surprise! moments of finding stuff in it.
I do love when I have something perfect for a layout I'm making.
But I am also a make-do scrapper. I can make nearly everything work for whatever I'm doing. I own mostly neutral, un-themed paper, that can be used for any layout.
I make a lot of embellishments with stamps and paper punches and dies (circles, triangles, etc).
I have mainly neutral embellishments. Stickles, sequins, flowers, washi tape, enamel dots can be used on any layout.

I love fussy cutting silly things out and making eclectic or kitschy pages for these young adults. My sisters kids (15,17 and 19) and mine (17,19 and 29) are into over the top, fun loving stuff. I'm having fun tucking silly things in to embellishment clusters!!! I love making embellishments! Do you make a bunch ahead or as you go?

My stash is as big as I want to get - I'm sure it's bigger than many but smaller (by far) than some of the Refupeas.
I've enjoyed using some really old stuff this month while working on an album for my mum - back when I first started scrapping (2002) CADD toppers were still a thing and I acquired quite a few. Over the years, I've used most of them but I had a stash tucked into my heritage folder of vintage/heritage ones. I've used probably a half-dozen or so in the album and they were perfect for the pages.

My stash might be embarrassing if I weren't sure there were other hoarders on this board. I thrive on possibilities and don't live right next to a LSS. Also I don't have the patience to order something on line and then wait for it to arrive so I can finish a page or a card. So I love having lots of possibilities right within reach.
Occasionally I find it frustrating because I am SURE I have the perfect pp, sticker, wood veneer, whatever... and then I look and look but can't find it. Usually when I have finished the project using something else the object of my search will reappear. And occasionally I can figure out a way to add it to the project.
I store my supplies by season and theme, so when I get new lines they are often introduced to my older stash--and I have to admit that sometimes I buy them BECAUSE I know they will fit in so well with what is already there.
I am starting my 30 days of Thankful album, and so far have used several items from my stash. Since I have so many themes already collected, I am thinking I will be able to finish out the month without getting anything new for this little binder. I could probably do 100 full 12x12 pages and never purchase anything but glue: but what would be the fun in THAT?

I love to mix it up, too.

I love pp, so when it came time to make a baby gift for my nephew/niece-in-law's shower, I had the perfect stuff- DCWV Green Stack. And at the same time I was working on another nephew/niece-in-law's (on DH's side) shower gift. I had all the stuff I needed in my pp stash except for the right shade of lavender (which I found at TM!).
I really love the mixing and matching of products to come up with my own kits. I'd often rather do that than put together a layout.

My stash was too big but I'm finally getting it under control. I've done a lot of layouts the last few months and have been good about using stuff up. I do like finding the right things in my stash but also get overwhelmed if it feels too big.

Me too - I need to pare my scraps down right now but otherwise, I'm happy with where my stash is - big enough to scrap without running out for this or that or the other but small enough to be able to find stuff and not be overwhelmed

This might sound crazy, but I don't forget that I own things...I simply cannot 'see' what I have when I'm working on something. I have so many options that my mind goes blank, lol.
I actually just did some stash shopping for my 30 days album. I filled the top of my project Raskog (keeps it handy but off my desk until I need it) with stuff from my stash that I feel I can use throughout the album. I put papers in for each day from a set collection (except for paper pads that didn't have coordinate embellishments) and will pull out that collection when I use those papers, but I still have that stuff to pull from. Most of it is new *blush* so I also want to use up as much of it as I can (especially my cork, something I struggle with every other season of the year...I will also try and use a bunch of veneer, too) in addition to pulling from the collection kits.
I enjoy shopping my stash. I like my kits to go with my pictures, so I try and pull colors from the photos, which means that I'm doing a lot of stash shopping to find a collection that works for me. Much of my stash is kept together (paper is stored with coordinating embellishments) but I still have a lot of odds and ends that doesn't belong anywhere specific that I enjoy thumbing through. I keep a bunch of bins to reach for at my fingertips on my desk...what can I say, I like having options, lol.

Isn't this the truth! yup! there's so many things I've forgotten about that I get excited about seeing again. that's what's sad about having a larger stash. you can't keep track of everything. I also delight in having stuff that have since been discontinued but I still love. that's when the hoard comes in super handy.

I don't have a huge stash but it's big enough for *me* to forget about things I've bought. Recently I set a goal to use every untouched purchase, at least a little, before I buy anything new. New purchases were piling up and I was feeling a little bad about it.
Oh boy. I just remembered I bought the SS fall kit from Peachy Cheap on Friday. So much for my goal! I'm all talk and very little scrap.
But to answer your question, I do love to shop my stash. I always go to my stash first and almost always find something that will work well. I don't use or buy a lot of themed supplies so that makes it easier.

I have a nice stash that I am starting to work through. There are things that I know I have forgotten about and that is ok. I'll get to it. I did a fair amount of shopping the last two years Archiver's was open and have sampled most of the popular kit clubs. It is all organized and I pull what inspires me. Get some photos and work with the kit until I get bored with it. Then I will start merging kits until I have several to cover different color families and the themes I like.

I love making embellishments! Do you make a bunch ahead or as you go? I do both. I have a bunch of kraft, black, and white embellies premade that could really go with most layouts. Those are for the days when I'm too lazy to make embellies, but want to pull together a layout. For layouts that I'm super excited about, or when I have a good chunk of time, I make embellies as I go, perfectly coordinating them to the paper and photos.

My stash is just a little larger than I'd like it to be but it's still small enough that I basically remember everything I own. I can almost always find something that will work for my pages, helped by having a stash with lots of neutral or versatile pieces. Over the years I've become much better at identifying what I will actually use versus what all the cool kids are playing with. I'm a sucker for travel themed embellishments and map printed paper so usually just a little bit of one of those will make my travel pages feel so very different from my other pages.
I love mixing old and new and I love the satisfying feeling of using something I've been hoarding for years.

Yes, I think I actually enjoy the hunt more than the actual page making sometimes. This describes me to a t. I have a ridiculous attachment to some things in my stash, meaning they are more likely to be pulled out and lovingly admired rather than actually used. My stash is definitely large enough that I can almost always find something to work with a project...sometimes I wish it was small enough that I could remember exactly what I have! Save

I have a combination of new kits from kit clubs and merged older kits. I go through spurts of shopping, then spurts of creating. My stash is there to be shopped, and I always have ideas for how to use it.

Yes to every question! I definitely get excited when I come across the 'perfect' thing for a page. Sadly, this encourages me to hoard, because it just goes to show that you never know when something will come in handy, lol. I basically always shop my stash. I almost never shop (either at a brick & mortar or online) w/a specific plan. I usually just buy whatever catches my eye & I know will work w/the type of pages I do. The good part is that I almost ALWAYS have something that will work. The bad part is that my stash is huge and contains quite a few things I thought I'd use, but haven't. Yet, lol. I definitely forget I have things! Do I get excited when I come across them? Well, that depends. If it's while I'm just sorting thru stuff, then, yes. It it's after I've already done the page it would have worked great on or after I've purchased the same thing again, then not so much. My stash is probably bigger than I need, but I like that I can usually either find something that will go perfectly (I'm a themed scrapper, so most of my embellishments & pp are organized that way) or pull something together (between the Slice & the Cameo, it's hard not to be able to find something!). Also, when I scrap w/friends, we tend to do it at my house. I like being able to share if someone needs something. Overall, I'm pretty happy w/my stash. If I ever think it needs a little pick-me-up, I go shopping and if it ever feels too big, I watch this scrappy video and it's all good!

I'm not gonna lie, I have a TON of stuff--some going back a decade or more--and anything I didn't still love was pulled out and donated, sold or is slated to be sold at a future sale. I love my stash and I know most of what I have.
Now do I know where it all IS? Not a chance, and that's what drives me nuts! I did go through a lot of stuff when I unpacked most of my scrapping stuff last year and did an initial sort at that time so I was able to refresh my memory with some of the older stuff I've been hanging onto.
I love being able to dredge up some ancient thing I just KNEW I had tucked away somewhere and actually use it on a project. That's awesome, especially when something old works perfect mixed with something new.
I'll be really excited to use my stuff if and when I ever get everything organized so it isn't as much work to find what I have and use it.

I think organization and knowing how YOU scrapbook is key if you have a big stash. I have most of my stash kitted up because that's how I scrapbook. I can go shop my kits for the perfect colors or vibe of kit. I also have a kitting area where I can quickly throw together a kit. Say I bought new embellishments and want to make a kit that would work with them...it's easy. If I go to a LSS yard sale, I try to kit my purchases ASAP and get the kits in use. My biggest problem with all the kIts is that I feel like there's never enough time to get to ALL of them! Any of them are up for grabs...even if it's an album kit (boxed instead of zippered bag) meant for a project, I can still use it for another layout if I want. I feel like I have found MY perfect stash solution, but there is no way I'll ever remember what is in each kit until I open it up. It's like opening up a present! I pull out yummy goodness and get excited to start scrapping!
