Yes, I do regret getting rid of some things. It seems that every time I go through a declutter session I let go of something that I end up needing months later. I also discovered that I sold a valuable camera at a garage sale for dirt cheap and some small Bakelite pieces before I even knew what Bakelite was. Still annoys me. And I never get rid of sentimental stuff. Never.
As for not burdening the kids with things later, I have thought of that. I have a bunch of things boxed up in the crawl space with a note in each of the box listing the contents and whether it is worth going through or should just be tossed. I know my kids will laugh about this! They know how hard it is for me to let go of things. :-)

I was de-cluttering for a few years before my divorce. Post divorce and with me moving I was entitled to half of what was in the household, but I made a point to ONLY take either things I NEEDED (like furniture, vacuum cleaner etc) or things that truly meant something to me.
I left a ton of stuff behind. I donated a ton of stuff. But I have no regrets over getting rid of "stuff" that I just didn't need.

Honestly can't even think of one thing I regret. I am about to do a second round in my house in the next couple of months keeping that in mind.

I got rid of 95% of our belongings last year.
You heard that right.
Every so often I get a twinge of regret for a book, or some item I can repurpose, but honestly I have done just fine without the stuff.

I'm in the middle of decluttering and I just feel relief at the things I've gotten rid of. My situation is complicated in that I hadn't been home for almost three years so the things here I had already been without for that time. I can look at things now and see that they are just 'things' and I don't need them. Now to convince the husband...

no, I can't really think of any regrets - I have re-bought (used) a few books but I'm okay with that

I have made great strides in decluttering, but 95% is astounding. I have been selling stuff on FB boards and ebay. All the proceeds go into a college savings account. I keep track of sales to keep myself motivated.
