I haven't used one of these home / life organization apps for years. I used to follow FlyLady, but that was years (a decade or more?) ago.
Are there any sites or apps that are popular these days? What are they? I need some inspiration and I'd love to check them out.

I love How Jen Does It! It was recommended on the decluttering thread and I fell in love with her videos. I showed my 13 yr. old daughter and she started getting into cleaning and cooking. And I would have never imagined a teenage girl being into cleaning and cooking! (I have three of them!) So I have Jen to thank! Not really a cleaning blog, but my daughter and I like Shelly's Home Life just because I think she is a nice lady with a super nice daughter.

There's a fly lady app that comes with lists. No need to subscribe to the annoying e-mails. I think some of the terminology she uses is dumb, but I like the system.

I feel like I need a FlyLady type program. I am normally a really neat person, clutter makes me crazy. I feel like I can't keep up with my kids though. By the time I actually clean the house, there are toys and piles everywhere again. It drives me crazy.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I'm also looking for a community kind of feel. There used to be a chat feature on FlyLady that I used to use, and there were usually about 5 of us keeping each other going. We'd check back every 15 minutes or so. We've done that on this board from time to time. Do any of you know of anything like that? Should I just post here and see if anyone joins in?

Alejandra has a forum as well as blog and videos .
In YouTube I love 'clean my space' and my favourite is 'my great challenge ' a busy working mum in New Jersey who posts great cleaning and organisational videos along with cooking diy etc . She's a scream .

By the time I actually clean the house, there are toys and piles everywhere again. It drives me crazy. Since I had cancer last year I have literally never caught up and my house is a mess. I don't have much energy, and we also have a damp problem now which means we can't use some of our storage . I find it so depressing I would be up for a regular challenge thread here .

How about a weekly or monthly thread? I don't go into "cleaning mode" every day (some are appointment days, some are errand days) so daily might not work for me, but I'd love to participate in a weekly or monthly thread. How about you?

uksue and ahiller, baby steps.
We just have to keep at it and do a little bit more each day. Slow progress is still progress.

I recommend a blog called A Slob Comes Clean. She has podcasts and a new book just released called "How To Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind". I'm listening to the audio book and really enjoying it.

That woman is a hard worker! Makes me wonder what the heck her husband does, when she is the one painting stuff and grouting tile. I like Sofia.

I just finished watching one of Jen's videos, and while I'm really impressed by her, I just can't relate to her at all. She's all about keeping her clean house clean. I'm starting with a dirty house and 25 years of clutter that we've moved from house to house to house. And projects. And holidays. And lack of a decorating plan. And lack of help from the guy who does the heavy lifting around here. So, yeah, she's awesome, but that's so far from my world there's no point in me following her!

I actually do love her even though I don't relate at all. I can't get my house to the point that I can follow her cleaning routines. My girls are slobs, and I can't get passed the clutter. If it wasn't for the stuff my kids leave all over, I would be able to follow her routines a little better as I wouldn't have to pick up clutter. My husband is in New Zealand last week and this week, so I am trying to get major cleaning done! If he had taken the kids with him, I would probably be able to get it clean enough to follow Jen!

I get discouraged by people like that - I just can't relate and I feel so overwhelmed that I don't want to even try. I LOVE the idea of a cleaning thread - perhaps free-form like the clutter purge thread? We can just post as we accomplish (or when we need encouragement?)

I've been listening to the Organize365 podcasts. I just looked her up and that looks fun! But, I have no idea how to "follow her". I clicked on Kids Bathroom Organization and I can read a little, then it seems to end (but I know there is more). I guess my question is I am clueless about what a podcast is! So how to I "follow" her. I have no idea how to ask what i want to ask! I guess it's not like a you tube video that I can click on play and watch it.

I first found How Jen does it, and then Shelly's Home life through her. I know HJDI is ridiculously clean but I really like her. And I love Shelly, she's just relateable to me with one girl at home and her cooking and meal planning videos. This past weekend I finally got in my scrapbook room and cleaned it top to bottom. I can't do blogs or message boards anymore, they are just too time sucking for me. I can put on a Youtuber who cleans and organizes with me, it feels like I have company and it motivates me to keep on going. Do you follow any other Youtubers? I like Happily A Housewife, but she's young and her kids are still young so a lot of her stuff isn't too helpful for me, but she's cute and her videos are well done. I'd love a weekly/monthly thread we can all join in on to keep each other motivated to keep cleaning. I want to start a challenge for myself to do a drawer or a shelf at least once a week. It seems as soon as I get around to everything in the house, I have to start all over again. I need to get in DD bedroom and do another purge, OMG the stuffed animal collection is out of control. And she had another growth spurt so we need to donate some clothes again.

I like this thread! I never thought of watching YouTube videos on cleaning. Great idea! I never thought of watching youtube for these things either! I thought it was just something teenager followed. Boy did I learn! So many fun cleaning/beauty videos! I love youtube! I am so grateful to the pea on the decluttering thread (Furry, don't know how to tag her) that introduced me to How Jen Does It!
