I finally got DH on board and managed to grab the sale. Yay!
I think rice in 10 minutes won him over.

I got one for my Mom. The Cdn one was a better deal but, since she's a snowbird, she would have had to schlepp it back to the US after Christmas so it just made more sense to get it from the American site.

I would love one but am a vegetarian, live alone, and rarely eat processed/high sodium anything due to medical issues. I have a rice cooker and crockpot, but doubt a pressure cooker would be used very often. But I want one!

I got the 6-in-1 deal from Walmart yesterday for my sister and mom. Neither of them will ever make yogurt so it's perfect for them. I think the 7-in-1 is on sale at Amazon today.

I am seeing the 6-1 at Walmart for 69. today, the 7-1 at Amazon is 68.95.
ETA: I caved and bought the 7-1. If I can't figure out what it would do for me other then saving 10 minutes to cook rice or spagetti, it will make a great gift.

And grains and vegetables - the possibilities are endless! I also have a lot of vegetarian Indian dishes in my rotation.
I'm also a 'from scratch' cook so I don't really understand the processed/high sodium comment.

I ordered the 7-1 as I love Indian food and that was something I didn't even think about, so that you for that suggestion. By processed/high sodium I mean prepared foods and sauces or seasoning mixes that get added to recipies but they contain a lot of sodium. I have Graves disease that caused very high blood pressure, may have lupas, and am undergoing testing for something else that causing severe leg pain but they think that may be due to the thyroid meds. I am falling apart lol. It will be great to be able to eat healthy meals without spending a lot of time cooking.

Yeah, I don't eat prepared foods, sauces, or seasoning mixes either but mostly because I find they taste like crap. There are lots of Instant Pot recipes out there for great saag paneer, chana masala, dahl makani, etc.

So far I've used mine for beans the most! I also haven't put anything processed in mine either

I use mine for roasts, ribs and chicken a lot. The flavour imparted into the meat is awesome. I also use it to "boil" eggs. I do 18 every Sunday and the family eats them all week. It's the best appliance I have purchased.

You will be able to make the best vegetarian soups and stews from scratch in under an hour. Unlike a slow cooker, you can make smaller amounts without scorching and burning. Your eating style is perfect for an Instant Pot. Check out this link: The Veggie Queen

This is awesome! I am ordering one right now! I have been constantly going into the garage (where my extra freezer is) and making sure the door is shut, and again during my lock up check at night. I've been obsessed. It looks like I can put one part in the freezer and then take the alarm portion upstairs, which is where it will be the most useful for me. If I am downstairs, I can just go look at the door, but upstairs is where I am currently spending the most time. It says it has a range of 300 feet, and my bedroom is directly above the garage. This is awesome! Thank you so much. mlana, I also ordered a locking apparatus for the freezer door. Mine didn't come with a built-in lock, but I found an add on lock on Amazon. I figured it is better than the piece of tape I have across the door now. It has a super heavy duty sticking pads with metal cables that I will put a key lock on. I didn't realize they made these or I would have bought one after the first disaster! Of course, this means a little irritation for me by having to bring a key with me every time I need the freezer. I won't leave it out there near the freezer for fear he will use it to "check" something. He is a nice person, but super fidgety and seriously into EVERYTHING. Its like having a toddler again. I think there must be some OCD in there as well as something else. He talks to himself nonstop, and takes forever to do something that would take a normal person an hour because he rechecks and remeasures and talks it through out loud before and during doing anything. His daughter is the sweetest person and she was over here once and asked me if I was able to handle her dad okay. She knows how he is. She said she cannot have him over at her house very often because he gets into her stuff to "fix it" too and it drives her husband crazy. She said she cannot have him over when her husband is home at all anymore. Fortunately, her husband is a firefighter and away from the house overnight enough to allow her dad to come visit and see his granddaughter, who he adores. He is a sweet and well-meaning man, but just quite different. Fortunately, I am quite independent and have no problem telling him to leave something alone. I admit to hiding certain things to keep him from them too. Okay, enough of me venting. Thank you both for removing this worry from my plate!! SaveSave
