Well, not pups but I call them that. LOL! They will be two in January (sable) and April (blue merle). I jog with them in the mornings, and then we play in the backyard about an hour later. They usually play or are off doing their own thing so I never get a "together" photo. Well, just got one. It's cloudy and icky today but this photo certainly shows their sweetness and their closeness. Love my boys. They have definitely helped this empty nest not seem so empty!

They are gorgeous! And look very happy. Thank you. Yes, they are very happy boys. And they make me laugh every single day. We have a great time together each and every day. Best medicine for an empty nest. LOL!

I grew up with a collie who had the same markings as yours. She was the love of my life from ages 7-23, and I hope one day to be reunited with her. Love the pic.

They are really beautiful dogs.
I'm sure your empty nest must feel quite a bit stranger than most. I am having trouble imaging sending my one kid off. Three at once,oh boy.

malibou, two of them are seniors in college this year. It has only gotten a "tad" easier. Watching them blossom has been so fun but when they come home for the holidays and then leave again, the sadness starts all over. It's definitely a roller coaster. peasapie, they truly are the best dogs. We have had 8 dogs (4 different breeds), and rough collies have been are absolute FAVORITE. Wouldn't trade them for the world. Have you thought about getting another one?

I adore Rough Collies, and am seriously thinking that my next dog might be one. Your two are adorable! Rough Collies have such personalities, and they are so easy to train. They need lots of exercise though. So if I am gone for the day and can't run with them, I take them to daycamp. They need to be doing something.

One of our 4-H leaders has rough collies that he does agility with. I was at an AKC agility trial this weekend and thought of him because he wasn't there. AKC doesn't lower the jumps for veterans like some of the other agility clubs do so he doesn't run them there. I understand completely but miss seeing him as his dogs are beautiful, well trained and just all around fun

January looks like my girl only a bit larger. I love that when you talk to her she seems like she is really listening. Plus, if I fell down a well, I know she'd get me a rope.

We actually own the land outside of the fence too, and we get SO many wonderful birds--the piliated woodpeckers, red bellied woodpeckers, and the downey woodpeckers are my favorite! Hubby puts a hammock over there sometimes and just enjoys.

She started out with short words as a pup, but has worked her way into full paragraphs when she wants something or is answering my questions. It is just adorable. People that meet her try to get her to do it for them. She just looks at me and I tell her to answer and she will.

Patter-what a gorgeous photo! Your boys looks so beautiful and happy. I remember when you first got them-has it been almost 2 years already? Wow-time flies.
I always wanted a Collie as a child (of course because of Lassie) because they were so beautiful. When my family did get a dog we got a St. Bernard because the was my Mom's lifetime wish. They are wonderful dogs too. Currently they are on their second Bernese Mountain Dog.
I'm happy to see your pups looking so great today and to hear how well it's going, and how much joy they bring to you.

950nancy, that is so cute. My sable barks but he also talks. He mostly barks when he is excited or needs my attention quickly. My blue merle talks mostly. And they make the funniest noises when they sleep too. If I am awake and hear them, I just crack up. birukitty, your family has the other dogs I love too though have never had a St. Bernard or Bernese Mountain Dog. Both gorgeous dogs for sure. There is a St. Bernard at the boys' daycamp. He is so sweet.

There is a St. Bernard at the boys' daycamp. He is so sweet. Patter, it's been so long since we had a St. Bernard (I was 19 when we had our last one-so that was 37 years ago, that I barely remember the breed that well. I do know my mother chose the puppy in the corner who was quiet and by himself. Bad choice. While we loved Barry dearly and he us, he sadly lacked in the smarts department. But I do remember him very fondly. My parents first Bernese Mountain Dog passed away suddenly of a blood clot, but we also suspect he had cancer too. He was only 5, and it hurt my father deeply. They soon were able to find another Bernese Mountain puppy through a friend who knew a much better breeder (although they thought that's what they got the first time-a good breeder-Albert had health problems throughout his short life). Max is now 5 years old and is a wonderfully healthy, extremely loving dog. My parents live 10 minutes away from me. When I go to visit we have our routine. First a walk, then I have to sit down on the end of the couch so he can get on what's left and put as much of himself in my lap as he can. Then he starts licking my ears and face, while I tell him how much I have missed him. He loves kids and prefers people to other dogs. I myself had a German Shepherd for many years until she passed, and while I'd love another sadly the breed has been so popular that there are too many problems with their hips and other health problems. I imagine that isn't a problem for rough coated collies (being so popular that the breed has numerous health problems).

They are beautiful. They make me missed Boots, my sheltie mix, my soulmate dog, and Laddie, my sheltie. They wait for me in the next world.

They are so beautiful, and what a great pic. We have a 4 yo German Shepherd and a 3 yo Chihuahua. They think they are sisters and are so funny to watch when they play. Dogs are such a joy!
