I read the note to mean that he wasn't allowed back in the group daycare today, not that he can't come back at all.
He's a cutie!

I'm sorry for the dog but your post cracked me up. I keep thinking that they could do a movie called "Escape from Doggie Day-care".

Ooooh my. Our heeler was uninvited from boarding because she doesn't play nice. I was doing my job and reading the whole thread before posting, and I was just about to post this same thing. Our heeler was "not invited to come back" for not playing well with the smaller dogs. We felt so bad, for the little dogs, and for her. She was surrendered to our shelter from a home with 77 dogs and she needs special accommodations! Smartypants, that is the cutest dog!! I just love that face!

He was trying to send a kite home and tell you he missed you. Sounds like it worked.
Also he looks like his upper lip catches on this teeth a little? So cute.

Yep, German Shepherds can be jumpers . . . and they have a job, that job is to protect your home. So IF he can he will try to come home to do his job. My GSDs can jump and climb . . . my female could climb out of our dog kennel with it's 6 foot high gate. YES climb! Stuck her feet in the chain links and climbed right over! Fortunately they hang in the house, well except our male can open the slider in our bedroom if we leave it unlatched. He hasn't figured out how to go the other direction on the slider in the living room! We also found out our female can open the front door (with the thumb latch door knob), this was when she had her first litter of puppies and we didn't let her in fast enough! So in general they are smart, need lots of love, and good training. Good luck and keep working with that lovable face!

Adding my heeler mix to the "doesn't play well with others". She gets snippy when other dogs smell her. She seriously protective and territorial. She's never been kicked out of daycare so I assume after 10 years they know how to handle her.

Ours was also a rescue surrendered to the SPCA. She tries to herd the other dogs and they don't like it - plus she does NOT share any tennis ball. They are all hers. Period. We just have a house/pet sitter when we need it rather than trying to board her any more. Smartypants, your guy is so cute! I'm sure it will all work out.

Honestly, I don't know how tall the fences are at this daycare. It never really occurred for me to look LOL! We live about 3 blocks away, and we walk past this place, so I'm sure he's like "Later guys, I'm going home now!" Is it the old house painted bright blue that is on a corner lot? If so, their fences don't look overly tall. As for bothering the cat, he's a herding breed. Don't count on that to go away in its entirety. My last Belgian herded the poor cat to the very end. Fortunately the cat had been raised with our first Belgian and was used to it. I always said she was the perfect trainer cat for dogs because she was so mellow with them. Fritz is adorable though! No way to stay mad at him too long! Save

Favorite dog I ever had could not be contained by s fence.
Or a chain.
Or a house.
True story.

Yeah they're jumpers - I'm not impressed he got kicked out after a day though - they don't sound like people willing to work with you.
I had a dog as a child that was part German Shepherd, part st Bernard - he jumped fences and was basically unboardable. So I sympathize / empathize.

He hasn't found the right daycare provider. He is so cute. He just needs the right people to love him while you're at work.

Years ago, we had to leave our sheltie at day care to try her out to see if she could "attend camp" or if she would spend her time "in the library" (lock up). She was put in a large room with other dogs her size and one person. There were six other dogs. She wouldn't go near the other dogs and insisted on walking next to the person in the room for the full two hours. They had a streaming video so you could watch your dog. The person mostly ignored her (to keep from the dogs seeing favoritism) and it broke my doggy momma heart. She is thoroughly spoiled with attention at our house. Thankfully I found a friend with a dog who also needed someone to watch their dog and we time swapped our dogs. We've been doing it for 10 years now. My dog just didn't know how to dog.

My dog got kicked out of Petsmart grooming because he screams. Not bites… But whines and screams.

That`s a handsome lad you have there. I was owned by a GSD/Collie cross girlie who wouldn`t jump over a puddle let alone a fence.

There is no way you could possibly be mad at that face for more than 3 seconds! He's adorable! Fingers crossed that he'll relax about jumping the fence in time.

No way to stay mad at him too long! SaveNo, this one is on the north side of I10. The fence is probably adequately tall enough. The problem is that the fence is that "trendy" fence where it's in a grid pattern. Apparently, he wasn't jumping the fence. He was scaling it! I was talking to the behaviorist when I picked him up on Saturday, and she said that if he wasn't getting one on one attention, he'd go over to the fence, but she thinks there is a chance he could grow out of it We shall see!
