For months now I have felt claustrophobic in my space. I am strange and like things neat, nice and put away but also need my embellishments etc close at hand or they won't get used. SO I started cleaning out my space from the post holiday craziness. This lead to a large flat rate of stamps, another of embellishments, another of PL cards, another of smaller sized paper (6X6, 8X8 etc), and FIVE large flat rate priority boxes of 12X12 paper. That is over THIRTY INCHES of paper! I touched every single piece of paper in ever size in my stash and cut it by at least 3/4 and you know what? I feel so FREE! I have created 12 pages since I purged (before I got sick!) and it feels so wonderful!
I also sold 2 boxes and donated the other boxes to an after school art club for underprivileged kids that my friend helps at so it did my heart good too! Bonus!
I just had to share with those that would understand!
If you purge, what do you need to purge now? What was your biggest purge?

Congrats on your purging and on your 12 layouts!! Hope you are feeling better!
Personally, I hate to purge and like having lots of things around me. this helps me to create, but I realize I'm in the minority with that. I tell hubs I'm saving for the zombie apocalypse.

Almost three feet worth of paper? Wow!! That's about all the paper I own and I admit I could probably get rid of half and not notice the difference. Good job, I'm glad your purging worked for you.

Personally, I hate to purge and like having lots of things around me. this helps me to create, but I realize I'm in the minority with that. I tell hubs I'm saving for the zombie apocalypse. This is me. I have enough space so I don't feel the need to purge my scrapbook and art supplies. What I am doing is purging in my paperwork area, getting rid of old bills and statements that go back 15 years. I have filled up four big brown paper bags, and I have a lot more to go. My scrap area does need some re-organization too, but more like putting away purchases or left overs from finished projects- just as soon as I complete my December Daily!

Here is a link to a journaling page I made about this topic last spring: PossibilitiesWhen I see scrap rooms posted or peas saying how much paper they own, I feel like I have an inadequate stash. We've already seen a huge decline in the SB industry, so I feel stocking up is a good solution.

When I start to purge I always seem to get an in an over ambitious mood, tearing everything apart in hopes of organizing it all and then realizing it would take weeks to do it all or at least longer than my husband would put up with seeing it all over the place 😁

But if I had a guest room I feel like that would be the perfect way because then I could go from my full of supplies and just take my very favorites over to the guestroom and whatever gets left behind gets donated and start fresh

Congratulations. It has been quite some time since I did my last purge but I am sure that I am well over due for a purge. I donate all of my off cuts to the school or a local kindy, they always love that.

Wow, that's a lot of paper! I actually was organizing all of my paper and kits today. I've purged already most of what I didn't want anymore and it really does feel good!

I purge so that I don't get so frustrating looking for a paper I want to use. I am working on purging embellishments. I tossed a bunch of partially used sticker sheets today. I cut out a few elements I would use and let the rest go.
I donate my paper to my SIL who manages an assisted living facility. The ladies there make cards.
OP - It's great that you feel good about your purging.

I have probably purged close to that amount of paper over the last couple months. The first round went to the elementary school DD attended here in FL. The second went to the elementary school she attended in SC, which is extra good because I just found out last night that the school district has "lost" 2 million dollars and there are ZERO dollars for anything for those schools right now. The school library got new books and can't even put them out for the kids because they can't buy the protective covers for them. This is already a district that doesn't have a lot of funds to start with. Very sad.
Third round, which has also included lots of embellishments, journal cards, jewelry stuff, etc. has gone to DD's high school art teacher who is absolutely thrilled and sends me emails all the time thanking me.

Thank you all. I must admit about half way through I was questioning my sanity but I just took a little break and then got back to it. I now need to do my stamps but that is WAY harder. It shouldn't be I don't use them near enough but they are my weakness in this hobby. Maybe one day I will! pastlifepea that is wonderful that you were able to help so many. I am sad to read about the district losing so much money. How do we expect kids to learn and teachers to teach with nothing? ARRGGHHH! I am going to do a purge of DDs stuff next and she has decided she wants to take it to HER school, which is well off but could still use things in the art room! She is excited!

Congratulations! What an amazing achievement. I can imagine the relief you must have felt returning to a far more manageable and less overwhelming scrap space. I'm a big advocate for planning for when, not if or one day maybe. This process sounds like you're giving your creative mindset the space to start relaxing and feeling ready to be productive again. I hope you'll be able to do this with the stamps as well (they're a weakness of mine too so I feel your pain). A happy scrappy mind in a healthy scrappy space... As I always do with discussions on here that bring up decluttering and destashing, I'm just going to leave you with my personal hymn when it comes to keeping your stuff under control:

sleepingbooty You are too cute! We sing this song in our house when the kids are being overly dramatic about something small/silly. They hate it. It makes us laugh and get through another day of parenting!

I am going thru my paper, kits, and stamps now. So I can relate to purging. I may do an eBay lot of my Tim Holtz and Heidi Swapp stuff. I have way too much and need to only keep the lines I really use now.
