You're being bullheaded @zingermack. FYI janitors aren't making $100,000, or even $50,0000. As I said go to your own link and see what the bottom quintile of those making $100,000 are paying from your OWN link. Or you can go to this nifty site: taxformcalculator.com/tax/25000.htmlI'm using $25,000 as that's an average salary for a janitor. That's a total federal burden of 14.59% - that's worst case scenario - no deductions, no children, single payer. (7% for federal income taxes, 6.2% FICA and 1.45% Medicare) Even if every single dollar of your billionaires income was taxed at lower dividend and capital gains rates, they pay 23.8% - that's the 20% rate for income over 459,000 and the Medicare surcharge. Of course they paid FICA on their lower tiers, but they also paid a lower capital gains rate up $459,000. It's okay to admit you're wrong - but you won't - you'll then again change the argument - here's a tip - there's a ton of upper middle class income earners who pay through the nose. You put two high paying professionals together and they're the ones screwed on taxes - particularly with the marriage penalty. There's a whole lot wrong in our tax code, but the working poor are absolutely not paying high rates - they just aren't and if you want more data - it's all free and readily accessible on the IRS website. Spend some time on the tax burden and income quintiles - even accounting for payroll taxes. www.irs.gov/uac/soi-tax-stats-individual-statistical-tables-by-size-of-adjusted-gross-income

You continually put words in my mouth. I never said janitors make $100K. The source was showing that people making up to $100K pay a higher effective tax rate than those raking in millions per year. Bottom line the tax code is skewed to reduce the effective rate on the wealthiest thanks to their purchasing of said code. That is shown over and over. You focusing on just the Fed Wage Income shows that you know that that is the one area where there is a bit more progressivity. But the overall taxing of citizens is skewed toward those who cannot pay for the legislation that eases their burden.

It's not true.

I honestly don't care what anyone makes or what they get taxed.

Actually this should be a message to the ardent Bernie supporters who didn't listen to their guy but instead voted third party or stayed home.
The message? Your worst nightmare about Wall Street has come true as they now make up a big chunk of trump's cabinet as well as creeping into the West Wing as advisors.
Next time you support a candidate as strongly as you claim you did, you may want to, you know, actually listen to them.
So instead of Bernie and Elizabeth Warren pushing the progressive movement, you all so strongly claim you support, they now have to spend there time saving what they can.
I bring this up after a week of watch trump wrecking havoc on this country and because it was pointed out that number of votes for Jill Stein in the 3 key states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, & Wisconsin would have given Hillary the presidency instead of trump.
So yes your vote does count.
