My dd is getting married in October and is having a beach wedding. Do you have favorite stores where you shop for your dresses? Just some information to help you direct me--I am short and overweight. It is not a formal wedding so I don't need the traditional MOB dress. Of course, I will also need a rehearsal dress and something to wear for the bride's brunch on Friday morning.
Any ideas on where to shop? Online or real store.

Come to think of it, it'll be a little tricky finding beach dresses now since all of the fall items are in the stores. Maybe there is a better place online? I don't know off the top of my head though.
Enjoy the wedding!

My go to store is Nordstrom. I do a lot of shopping online. They have free shipping & free returns.

I LOVE Modcloth.com. I've purchased a few dresses from them and have been very happy. I've also had to return a purchase and it was so easy, and FREE!

Well.. if it was a beach wedding in October in Oregon I'd say wear long johns and polar fleece! But you're probably talking about a tropical venue, right? I suggest looking through some of the online travel/cruise-wear shops. One I checked was Soft Surroundings (http://www.softsurroundings.com/)... they had some pretty things that looked beach wedding appropriate. (I have no connection to that shop and have never shopped there.. just looked at their merchandise online.)

Okay, the only dress I know to recommend is one I bought recently for my son's upcoming graduation. It's been mentioned here LOTS of times because it is a magical dress-it makes you look 20 pounds slimmer. It's from Lands End and is called the "Sleeveless Ponte Sheath Dress with Pockets". Don't worry about the sleeveless. Just wear a jacket, or sweater over it. They even offer a beautiful option on Lands End that is a v-neck, 3/4 length sleeve very fine knit cardigan. The dress is offered in regular, petite and plus sizes. The fabric hides all of the little bumps we have. It might be too casual for you, but a lot of Peas have worn this to weddings.
I tried it on a few days ago at my local Sears store and was shocked at how well it looked. I got it in black. You always need a little black dress. I even have a coupon for you-20% off use DEAL4ALL and Pin 1360. It just popped up on my screen when I went to look at the dress. Hope this helps.

I was going to suggest modcloth.com too! Love that place! They have tons of cute dresses and it's super simple to return something if you need to.

I love Modcloth!! We have shopped there lots, and recently purchased dresses for my dd's senior pics there, and the descriptions, reviews, prices, etc are wonderful.

I got my mother of the bride dress at Saks. It wasn't a wedding dress- just a pretty, long, sleeveless dress. I loved it and have worn it several times since then.

I would do a tea length maxi in a flowy fabric with a shawl. Something that will billow in the ocean wind.
