I go every year. I used to not mind going but lately the techs have been squeezing a little too hard yaknowwhatImean? But with my history of 3 different types of cancer, I take care of my girls. I really don't want to lose them. I also get skin/moles checks every 6 months. I get a lot of basil cell carcinomas removed. I had radiation to my chest for Hodgekin's Disease when I was 25 and now in my 50's the docs say I have to be careful to get check because radiation causes other types of cancer to appear.

I thought the statistics were in the 70-80% range of women who get breast cancer with no family history. The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation says it's 90-95%. Thanks. I knew it was really high. I had one aunt who had breast cancer and no other relatives I am aware of (HUGE family). I don't consider that a family history.

I had a base line at 32 because of family history. I now go twice a year to see my breast dr. At one of the appointments I get a mammo and the next is a very thorough breast exam by the dr and to find out if I have had any problems.
ETA: I go twice a year because I have had tumors (benign so far) in prior years in both breasts and my GYN and breast dr. want to keep a close eye on me.
