Received an email that Archivers online is ending. Final sad little nail in the coffin of what was the greatest scrapbooking store ever. I still mourn for their fantastic classes.

So is the annex on clearance? I only found it by accident...I think many people thought they were already gone for good. I think it was at least a solid year before I even knew about the annex. They definitely could have marketed better.

Another reminder of the loss of B&M Archiver's. I've been waiting for this email for about the last 9 months. I bought a fair amount from them early on. They offered exclusive card kits with product from Doodlebug or Echo Park and I really liked those. And then there were no new exclusives. And then no new product. It was then just a matter of time.
It still makes me sad.

Their stores were the BEST. I was so sad when the Omaha location closed. But I never shopped their online store.

This makes me sad. I never ordered anything online after the B&M stores closed, and I never had a store close by, but I always shopped at the main store at the Mall of America, when I was there for Scrapfest, and stocked up on a TON (like $150+) of new stuff while there. I also went to 2-3 of the other locations for manufacturer sponsored crops during those weekends. It was a lot of fun!

I used to get their sales emails regularly, but haven't for a while. That's so sad!

I was so sad when Archivers stores closed. We Travelled to Scrapfest twice & we were so sorry we decided to "skip" what turned out to be the last one.😢 When they opened their online store, I felt betrayed, as they had made such a big deal about how they hadn't wanted to leave the market etc. but just couldn't make it financially etc. I know brick & mortar is expensive, but their online prices were high & I never felt compelled to support them. There are other online retailers that seem to want our business more with attractive websites & sales or discounts.

I had an Archiver's store 5 minutes from my office. Oh, how I miss it! My wallet is happier, however.
I never liked the online store as much as other online stores. I think I bought there once.

I never ordered anything online, but I did go to their Raleigh store every time I went to visit my BFF down east and she did the same when she would drive this direction. It was the perfect, albeit expensive, break point in our trip. I miss all the new product they had to choose from.

I went on their online store and thought it was odd that it doesn't say anything about the store closing or sales being final. They don't even have any of their "regular" (non-exclusive, non-adhesive) items on sale at all. If I hadn't seen this thread I would have no idea they were going out of business.

When they first opened their online store I seem to remember them asking what people wanted in an online store. I told them cardstock and paper by the sheet since that is how I buy. They never seemed to implement that though. It might have helped their bottom line.

This just makes me sad all over again. I didn't care for their online setup, but just hearing the name brings back good memories of shopping in their stores.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for a company that ran off all of the scrapbook stores in my area.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for a company that ran off all of the scrapbook stores in my area. Me too. We had some really nice independent stores here.

I was on this morning after getting a reminder email and still nothing. That seems so tricky. My email this morning said there was a sale on certain items but I am not sure if that just started today since I know I didn't find it yesterday. I had to hurry and place an order since I had $50 in e gift certificates. It was hard. So much was sold out and their website has always been slow for me.

I never ordered anything online.. but yeah I miss their stores. Was mad at them too for running all our great stores here in Denver out of business. Funny how every location here was less than 5 miles from the mom/pop stores. We had some GREAT independent stores. Finally Archiver's was the only place to go. They were beautiful stores though...

I find it hard to believe Archiver's ran off mom 'n pop LSS. Everyone bitched about their high prices and no coupons. I loved them because they were the ONLY store that carried a whole line of products instead of one piece here and there.

It's always a little sad when a craft store closes--on line or LSS. I didn't have an Archiver's near me since they never expanded to Southern California but I remember a lot of people really liking the classes and crops. I did check out their online store when the B&M stores closed but I never found much that I liked.

That was their strategy right from the get go. I live where they opened their first stores. They spent months finding all the independents in the area and casing the stores checking out what lines they carried, how the stuff was merchandised, etc. and then they dropped their 5,000-10,000 SF stores in less than five miles away from every single one. ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/rpAaBAQhjSFZt4YtPRu4.jpg) The independent stores really never had a chance.

Once they came in, everyone went to Archivers... a lot of scrappers like me, I went to the mom/pop places and Archivers. You could tell within a few months that the mom/pop places were struggling. I think most folded within a year. There were a few that made it but eventually they all closed (before Archivers did). Denver currently has one huge store and it is way out by Boulder that seems to be pretty successful. It is like the size of Archivers. Years ago Colorado Springs had two stores but I don't know if they are there anymore or not. Don't get me wrong I loved Archivers... They carried products that I couldn't find in the mom/pop stores.. but it went both ways.. some of the small stores had product that Archivers couldn't get. (I can't remember what lines, as it's been so long... but there were some great paper out there that Archivers couldn't get)

Archivers was less than a mile from it. A friend and I would stop at both when we went to CKC St. Louis. I still periodically make the 150 mile one way trip to shop at The Scrapbook Factory.
