The two things I wanted to do in France and didn't get to do Tour the Loire Valley & see Chenonceau See the Bayeux Tapestry maybe or maybe not made by Queen Matilda herself Yup I'm a weirdo I saw the Bayeux tapestry! It was very interesting. Really cool to be so close to something so old! Bayeux is a cute little town, too. One thing I would NOT do is go up the Eiffel Tower. We did it and it just ...eh. The best views of Paris have the Eiffel Tower IN them, and when you're on it it's just... meh. I could have skipped that for sure. But do go chill in the park right there with some wine and baguette and cheese!

I absolutely adore Versailles! In addition to the traditional must-dos in Paris, that would be my top recommendation. Enjoy every minute of the planning and the trip. So happy for you! Yeah, Versailles is really cool. You can take the RER train out and just follow the signs and walk to Versailles from the train station. Pay the extra money to get into the gardens and try to go on a day the fountains are all running in the gardens. They're gorgeous.

Congratulations! That sounds awesome! I agree with other peas who suggested that you either stay in Paris the whole time or take one small day trip nearby. So much to see and do and eat and drink in Paris that you'll have no problem finding plenty to do in the time you have. You might check out this Refupeas thread from a while ago where another pea was asking for Paris travel suggestions/advice. In addition to the museums & sites suggested by others, I highly recommend the Musee de Cluny to see the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries. I also loved the statues in the Louvre, as well as the old masters paintings. We were only there 4 days so we crammed in as much as we could do in that time (not sure we ever slept, LOL!) I loved the city and would go back in a heartbeat. You will never have a bad meal there! ETA: Your picture looks great! Make sure the tapestries are there. They travel and were in New York not that long ago. Some of these very famous pieces move around a lot.

If you're going out of Paris, particularly if you're heading south, check out the typical weather first. Depends on your tolerance, but for me Greece in August is hot AF and just not comfortable.
I've only been to Paris once (shocking considering how close I actually live) and there is still an absolute ton of stuff I haven't seen. With day trips you could very easily stay there the whole time. Otherwise I would second the advice to keep a second destination fairly close, although in Europe that could still cover quite a lot!

If we do grwece we will end up extending longer. I'm thinking if they're paying for the flights, why not right? Im so anxious! Do not go to Greece in August! Just don't!

Our national conference was this week and the CEO called me on stage with some other gals, complimented us on the consistency and leadership we've shown worth our businesses and then told us he's flying us to Paris for a free trip! Itll be august 10-15, the first two days are planned for us, the second two are free days for us to plan and were thinking about extending for another 5-7 days to go somewhere....Any suggestions? I've never even dreamed about doing a trip like this so I'm freaking out and completely clueless but ready to start researching and planning. What cant we miss? Theyre sending dh and I, and the extended trip will be us amd another couple. Dhs biggest bucket list trip is greece...maybe? Help me, these hillbillies are lost! Ha No suggestions, I just want to say you look GORGEOUS. Congratulations on the trip!

Can't quite understand the "help" part of your title, but WOO HOOO!!!! Congratulations!!! That is spectacular!!!
I would not suggest going to Greece. I love Greece, but leave that for another special time. If you want to extend your trip (and I don't know where you've been before), then extend it in closer by.
Paris - 4 days is barely enough, but let's say you want to get out? Givenchy? Versailles? Strassbourg - or one of my favorites, Colmar?
WAY too much to do around Paris without traveling forever to do it!!!

Congratulations, this is an amazing opportunity for you! I've never been but I will second what another pea said about the wine and the bread and the cheese. Our youngest traveled for 2 months right after college graduation and they spent 3 days in Paris and stayed at a hostel. She said that the bread and cheese were their staples while in Paris, lol, and the wine . . . .

Stay in Paris/France - or do a day or two in London. Greece in August is very hot. Athens is a graffiti riddled shithole full of junkies shooting up in public - avoid at all costs. The islands and other parts of Greece are beautiful.

So jealous, I loved Paris and wanted to go for my 40th but having two small kids dh said maybe for 50. Anyway on our honeymoon we were there for 2 days as part of a Europe tour, we did so much but only did highlights of stuff, e.g. River cruise, fancy French meal, louvre, climbed arc du troimphe (pro tip, there are underground tunnels, do not attempt to run across the street) ate pierre herme macarons, took a trip to Versailles which is something like 17 miles away, saw the Moulin rouge (pro tip, do not go into any bars in the area, our tour guide said that's where they scam tourists, e.g. You go have a beer and end up paying 300 euros) Another tip is you have to pay to use toilets and also there are lots of gypsies there, e.g. A friend went and said someone with him saw someone drop a ring so he went to pick it up and give it to him and the man said he had to buy it and many surrounded him, that kind of stuff. Another pro tip is to keep Any bags hidden and be aware at crowded spots like in front of the Mona Lisa. It's so crowded, a skilled pick pocket can grab and go. I wore my purse inside my jacket. Also if you have a fake lv anything they confiscate it as it's illegal. Not something I would have thought of before traveling but we were warned of that too. Please enjoy some French pastries for me!

With extra days you should take the EuroStar to London.
ETA: Whoops, forgot to say Congratulations and I am green with envy! Have fun!

Congratulations on your wonderful news and for visiting one of my favorite cities in the world! My short-list recommendations:
--Cafe de Flore is the place where so many literary types were known to congregate. Sip a cappuccino and drink in the history.
--Compare the macarons at La Duree and Pierre Herme. We love to argue this topic!
--Go to the full-room reproductions of Monet's gardens (Nympheas0 at the Musee de l'Orangerie, by the Tuilleries gardens.
--Go to Le Marche de la Creation on Sundays for a lovely outdoor art gallery.
--And there is a sweet, romantic little wine bar called L'Ecluse in the Saint-Michel district. Order the Bordeaux.
--Visit St. Chapel on a sunny day. The stained glass is magnificent!
--If you want to go to the Jules Verne, make reservations well in advance.
Please keep a travel journal and report back!
