I was adding some stamps and embossing folders to my stash log and I was wondering is anyone else is as anal as I am at keeping track of their stash?
I am a compulsive organizer (which means nothing is ever organized to my liking), I just like to know what I have at all times and to not duplicate purchases. I even have an inventory of books, dvds, and cds but I do not have a household inventory for insurance purposes--go figure.
I have a stamp log and I stamp every purchase immediately in it.I also have a sample or every ink, embossing powder, stickle, etc that I use in the front of the binder.
I have a sample of every embossing folder on a ring and each sample has a portion of it inked. My thin dies I keep in a binder on magnetic sheets slipped in a page protector. On the reverse side is a sample of the die cut out.
Next is a binder that has all samples of techniques I've tried with instructions. My hand punch samples, Twistel, ribbon and washi samples are in here too. Boy has this come in handy over the years.
I also keep a duplicate sample book in tiny size in my purse for reference when I go shopping.
Back in the day when I had a very small stash of paper I used to keep a spreadsheet of every paper I bought so I didn't duplicate purchases when I was on a very tight budget. Of course this was a useless effort!
Now if I would just scrap with as much effort and enthusiasm as I organize I would be caught up by now.

I very much wish I was organized. I am about 20% organized in that about that much of my stuff is in theme bins and about 50% more is in bags that I know approximately where to look. 30% is a crapshoot.
On the other hand, I scrap pages like a fiend. So I guess imagine an artist with a chaotic, frenetic studio and you have me.

I have most of my supplies(dies, stamps, inks, washi, buttons, scraps and stickers) in baskets on my shelves, but my embellies are not really organized at all. I just have never found a system that works. I know a good purge of them would benefit me, but I really don't want to again... I did purge a while back, so everything I have I want to keep and think I will use someday. I wish I had a good way to organize them. It is hard creating a page and going through baskets of mixed embellies. That is really the only thing left that I need to organize.

The closest I have come is putting letters in one PSB and die cuts, and the like in another PSB. Tiny buttons and brads, washi and ribbon on rolls are in divided cases from jewelry dept. the rest are in small stacking drawer units on a bookshelf with labels on them but they are a jumble. I find I have to open everything up every few months to get "reacquainted" with what I have.

I'm a bit of both. The stuff I've unpacked is organized. But I have boxes upon boxes of stuff I've been toting from house to house for years that's crazy disorganized.

I'm somewhat organized, but not to the extent you are! Since I use a lot of Tim Holtz supplies, his app comes in very handy for keeping track of what I have vs. what I don't have. Ranger makes printable sheets for swatches of inks, paints, etc. I just added one for my Stickles and Archival inks the other day when I printed one for the new Oxides. All of that is very useful for selecting colors for a project.
Your idea for the embossing powders is a good one. I can't see myself going to the extent of doing embossing folders or stamps, but I can see how it would be helpful, especially if you have a big collection.
One of my most useful items is a little swatch book for my Copics. It was a project for an online class when I first started using them. I cut up 2" x 1-1/2" pieces of smooth bristol. Each marker has a swatch that is colored from light to dark. They are hole punched and assembled in order on a little chain. Makes it easy to put together color combinations.
Organizing is always an ongoing process. It's interesting to see what others do.

I'm not very organized. I prefer a bit of chaos, but I've gotten to the point where I think I need to address my supplies. I used to be better, but my storage containers are at capacity now and nothing new can be sorted until I go through it all and do some purging or turnover or something.
I really love the cataloging idea. Maybe I'll do a bit of that for some supplies, especially washi.

My supplies are very well organized. But, I do not have an inventory. I do keep a list of items I need to purchase.

when I read the title of the thread - my response was pretty organised but then I read your post...and I'm feeling like a complete mess Everything has it's place and I know where it is but it's not catalogued - on the other hand, I don't have a huge stash so I've never felt the need to catalogue it - all my stamps fit in one drawer (mounted) and one pocket folder with page protectors (clear/unmounted) for instance. My scrap space is 6ft long and about 5ft wide and all my scrappy stuff except my albums fit there. I clean as I go and I put new purchases away as I buy (and I'm not a big shopper) so it stays pretty neat and every so often I go through and straighten it up, dust, get rid of that last sticker on the sheet that I'll never use etc...

I'm organized, but no I don't keep an inventory list. My stash isn't so big that I can't remember what I have and what I don't either.

I am organized in a way that helps me keep my options open for crafting. When my stuff is stored, it goes with related items: tubs or drawers or shelves that are themed. But there are other things that are stored by type rather than theme, so my washi tape is all thrown in together. Likewise twine, and ribbon, and wood veneer. My inks are in grab and go containers, and sorted somewhat by colour, but the most used pads are scattered around the edges of my work surface. If I am packing up for a crop, I have to make sure I am actually taking the inks I need in the container I grab.
Not a lot of lists. I DO have a list of the word dies I have, so that I can check the list to see if I have something I can use on a card or page, but that is the only list I have.
But I don't think about organization much. And my "system" doesn't mean I can necessarily find what I am looking for. A theme might be "Little Boys" or "Sports", and there are lots of options within each. And when I get scrapping, I don't worry about putting things back where they came from until my scraproom looks like a hurricane blew through here.
If I am actually cleaning and sorting in here, I really need the teeshirt that says "I'd rather be scrappin'"

I'd say I'm 99.9% organized. Although I don't have a complete inventory of everything I have. I would spend too much time trying to keep up with what I have in way of cardstock and embellishments. I do have a list of chipboard/die cut patterns, inks, full page laser designs, stencils, Paper Wizard die cuts, and punches so that I don't buy duplicates of those. I also keep a running list of specific things I want to purchase - certain colors of cardstock that I am low on, embellishments for specific projects, etc.

The only inventory list I keep is for my paints and markers/pencils. This is so when I go shopping I know which colors I already have. I tried to keep an inventory of my rubber stamps, but that went no where fast.
I would say my stuff is organized though. I have like things together and drawers are labeled. I know what I have and where to find it.

My stamps are somewhat organized and I keep all my folders together but I would not be organized enough for you. I want to be more organized and want to get my paper organized all my letter stickers etc. I have a long way to go. I have all my Ali stamps together and my Elle studio and most of my Ctmh stamps sort of organized but that's it.

My stash is organized. Stuff is in containers. I don't label everything but *I know* where things are located. I don't share with anyone. I do have 2 baskets that have random things I don't use, but can't seem to get rid of right now. If I didn't have kids and husband, the rest of the house would be just as organized. I pick my battles.

i am pretty organized in the sense that i keep like items together. patterned paper is separated from solid. all embellishments in one area. ribbons and buttons are separated by size and color.

Having all of my stamp sets and dies in Avery Elle storage pockets and then in Fridge Binz is about as organized as I'll get. I do keep my stamps organized by manufacturer except for Christmas and Valentines. Those get their very own Fridge Binz. And dies that don't match a stamp set are organized into broad categories like circles, rectangles, stars, banners, nature, etc.
I've thought about a stamp index or catalog of some sort but the task seems so daunting.

I have purchased a few things I already owned on accident, but I'm relatively organized...in terms of cleanliness. I still need to find single area stations for a lot of my product. I have things like stickers, ephemera, and enamel dots in a few areas.

I keep my stash of dies, inks, punches, etc. on the computer. I have four pages back and front folded in a pocket of my purse. It comes in handy when I shop and they are easy to update.

My office isn't chaos, but it isn't organized, either. My mom is visiting next week and she wants to help organize my space. I have 60+ Iris containers full of supplies... at most, they are organized by kit (Studio Calico, GB, etc) by month, but this system is useless if I'm looking for the SC farm stamp that I bought in... 2015!? Lol. Which bin is it in?
Sigh.
I may be a lost cause.

My scrap space is the same size as yours so one project and I have a disaster.

It was tedious but fun to make my log, I had forgotten what stamps I had. My log would work well with your storage system if you put a number on each pocket. Just include the number with each image you stamp. My log is a simple 3 ring binder divided into alphabets, backgrounds & designs, flora & fauna, sentiments & events, holidays. Fauna, for example, then has separate pages for insects, butterflies, birds whimsy, birds realistic, sea life, mammals and so on. The actual sets are kept together in binders. It really makes selecting a stamp much easier.

I think I'm reasonably well organised. I can find things without too much trouble and have a small enough stash that I can mostly remember what I own. I haven't yet bought duplicates of something not realising I already own it so I consider that a win.

If organized chaos is considered "organized," then that's me. Lol. Like things are stored with like things and themed items are together in Iris boxes. "The hunt" through my copious stash is Part III (pictures, paper and then...) of my scrapping process. I'm in awe of your inventory cataloging pas2! I'd hire you to do my stuff (and there is so. much. stuff.) since I've been known to buy duplicates (a lot. I guess I know what appeals to me...repeatedly!)
