I didn't want to hijack the other thread but wanted to post this. An article I read said that Subaru only held about 1.7(?) % of the car market here in the US but showed the top 10 states for Subaru owners. Colorado was right up there. So I would guess they are the unofficial state car for Colorado also. Old ones or new ones, everywhere you look here are Subarus. Rank State % Subaru 1 Vermont 11.3% 2 Maine 6.5% 3 New Hampshire 5.8% 4 Connecticut 4.4% 5 Colorado 4.3% 6 Oregon 4.1% 7 Montana 4.0% 7 Alaska 4.0% 9 Washington 3.8% 10 Massachusetts 3.6%

I LOVE my Subaru's. I have had 4. They are the only cars I get. When I took DD to college in WV, there were so many! They are as popular as Toyota's are in DC

(Sorry I can't remember what it is called) My parents have a 2017 with that feature and my Mom says that baby is beeping all the time with my father, but he laughs that he can't hear it most of the time. I have a 2016 and did not get that option. But my seat heaters make up for any option that I didn't get.

We have a Subaru Forester, first model year. We bought it when I was pregnant with DS #1 in 1997. It's what he learned to drive in and it's what DS#2 will learn to drive in this year. They are well built cars that last forever. We've driven it back and forth across the country and all over Europe.

I wish they made a small truck. I would love one that sat up higher. The new Foresters sit up quite high (probably not as high as a full size pickup but certainly as high as most of the small pickups). And they have a high clearance, which was at the top of my list of needs/wants.

We have 2 Subarus and they are both great cars. DS has a sports car of some sort (it goes fast and makes a lot of noise) and I have a Forester. He has already picked out that I need a new Forester for my next car, as well. He said the engine is the same as his is. He had me there. He is going to trick it out, too, to make it really cool. Gotta love a man who loves cars.

My next car will be a Subaru. The fact that AWD is standard on all of them is something I think all automakers need to get on board with

Mine has about 77,000 miles on it and I have had it for 11 years. (I guess I am not a huge driver by the sounds of it plus I live on an island and don't leave the municipality I live in (i.e. county) very often so my driving needs are fairly limited.

As SUV's go, it's not very spacious. Even for a crossover. Save

I do wish that the back seats folded down completely flat, it would make it easier to use the cargo space for large objects.

they have auto cruise control. you set it based on how far you want to remain behind the car in front, and it speeds up and brakes automatically. it has lane crossing warnings, back up camera and signals.. and awd,

The one I have now is our 4th -- after 2 Foresters and a Tribeca. If they made a minivan (and I hear there's something bigger coming in 2018 maybe - not a van but something w/ a 3rd row) or a pickup, we'd own 2 more. DH was all anti when I bought the first Forester - too boxy/ugly, why would I want that, etc. It was an XT (turbo), and kicked ass. Long story short, it got totalled less than a month after I bought it, so we went and bought its twin. And after just that month (and that wreck), DH would have fought me if I'd wanted to even look at anything else! I will probably never love another car like I loved my little turbo the rest of my life! The gas mileage with my current Crosstrek is WAY better (and no premium fuel!), and I like it fine, especially in bad weather, but it's just not as zippy as the turbo.

I just bought a Subaru Forester in March and I love it!!!! I love the way it drives, I LOVE the gas mileage, I love the color (Quartz Blue) all the fun and safety features, the back seats fold down giving me all the room I need to carry all the crap I seem to carry!

I currently have an Outback, Hubby has a legacy, would love a BRZ or a WRX STI to play with, but I figure our next Subaru will be a Forester... There really is no other option for car makers in our house. We LOVE them!
And we had a 'He walked away moment with the Legacy'

<<<isn't she pretty?!? My kids almost consider her a 3rd sibling and don't want me to get rid of her-ever! I know she is highly sought after as I am stopped often enough to be comical. I came out of Home Depot to people literally walking circles around her, I was looking for used car for son at dealer and what I thought was a pushy salesman following me actually was salesman but wanted to buy (Baja)... I could go on.. In keeping with her Korean traditions, a friend gave both my kids 24k gold rings at birth so they will "never go without". My DD says the Baja is my gold ring because of the constant inquiries. LOL she has a point.... I am toying with the idea of new car but having a hard time letting her go. I never felt that way before. May keep her as a spare workhorse, I don't know.

I have a 2009 Forester and I really love it. It's 'loaded' with everything that was available at the time, yet at the same time is still rather plain Jane. I think that's what I like about it. It's quirky and cute, kind of like me. I like the size of it, too. It's quite spacious for a smaller SUV, especially in the back seat.

That is the package my parents got. I just have the standard cruise control, AWD, and Backup camera. I have to admit that is really the only thing that I miss about my little Mazda...the zoom zoom zoom. I am (was ) a get up to speed quickly type girl and I really can't do that with the Forester. Love the Baja. They stand right out because there are so few around. I have to say yours is pretty! That is one of the reason's that I bought mine. I keep my cars for a long time and when I was finally ready to trade I wanted something that had good clearance and that was AWD. I work 2nd shift so often when driving home after midnight the roads are not plowed. I also live where I have to go up some pretty good hills in my condo development and those drives are definitely not plowed. I was sick of having to park at the bottom sometimes and hiking up. But with the clearance on the Forester (and good winter tires) I haven't had any problems. Even our last blizzard where we got 30 inches I was able to make it home and actually up to my parking lot. I can't say enough good about the AWD and how well it does with winter driving.

There seems to be so many Subaru's here in WA that I can't imagine what Vermont looks like! Must seem like every car there. My mom has a Forester and really likes it. I think when my car dies I'll probably end up with either an Outback or Crosstrek. I don't like the road noise on the Forester. All the kids/young adults here buy them to trick them out, so it's hard to find used ones for a good price. My DS has a friend that paid $14k for a 2004 little Subaru. It's one of the little sporty tricked out ones but that's just crazy to me.

At least you can be incognito, nobody every says oh I saw you driving the other day. But when you have a bad memory like I do it can also be harder to find in a parking lot. The Forester is definitely not a quiet car, and with snow tires it is even worse. But it is reasonably priced (was in my price range) and it had the clearance. So I took that over the zippy and/or quieter vehicle. They do keep their value, though I tend to drive my cars for a long time so that wasn't really a factor for me. I am always amazed what people are asking/paying for used ones, it seems like it isn't that much more to get a new one. I also see a lot of the tricked out Imprezas and Legacys here.

Here in Colorado, you can't have a Subaru sitting out in the driveway or someone will want to buy it. It must have a ski rack. It must have stickers. And this isn't ME saying this, but our gay community loves their Subaru... Yup I read that was one of their marketing strategies... they target outdoorsy people, places with inclement weather, and the gay community. So for Vermont that was check, check, check. It must have worked. This is my first one, but a lot of my family and friends have been buying them for years. I have no stickers on mine though.

in Wisconsin the further north you go the more they seem to multiply. All about the weather/climate.
My Baja is our 3rd Subaru. I've had this one since 6 foot kids were 3 and 4 foot kids. Longest I've ever owned one vehicle. Mine is a stick. After manual for so long I was going to get lazy and get automatic but I found this one with only 3000 miles on it- so "new" for used car price I took it in a heartbeat.
I guess someone with more $ than me kept at their vacation/summer house just to "tool around town" and that they no longer needed/ changing homes. Thank you relocating people.
