What's in them? Are they sweet? Eggy? Tangy? I forget and have never seen them here before.

I think they are both sweet and tangy. If you look in the Recipes board, the recipe is posted there. DH likes them , so I thought I would make some for the weekend. It is a combo of the Hawaiian sweet rolls, deli ham and swiss cheese with a marinade poured on top.

What can you use instead of ham? I try not to eat pork (see avatar) but would turkey do instead?

I wonder if Canadian LDS people know what funeral sandwiches are. Maybe they would know how to make them? Are there a zillion calories in them?

Here is the recipe from the Recipe board - I have no idea how many calories are in them, but I wouldn't consider them healthy and we have them maybe once or twice a year, so we let the caloric intake slide for a meal or two Funeral sandwiches --Original poster unknown. If you know it, let me know and I'll change the title 24 servings Spray Pan with Pam (like to use two- aluminum throw away pans for easy clean up) 1.5 lb Ham deli or thin- sliced .5 lb Lorraine Swiss Cheese (any Swiss is good though) 24 dollar buns whole wheat or white Glaze 2 sticks Butter 4 Tbsp Brown Sugar 2Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 2Tbsp Mustard (not dry) 2 Tbsp Poppy seeds Assemble Ham and Cheese inside each bun. Marinade with sauce and cover. Marinade no less than 4 hours and up to overnight. Bake at 450 degrees Covered for 25 minutes.

Oh heck I can make that! Those sound good. I will make them for the family one night. I wonder if DS would eat it. he likes his food spicy so if I give him his hot sauce he might just eat them!
I am getting hungry...again.

Not being American, I haven't heard of them before, either. Sounds tasty, though.

I didn't use the poppy seeds as I had none, but I did put in a dash of garlic powder

What can you use instead of ham? I try not to eat pork (see avatar) but would turkey do instead? Elannah I think you could really use any combination of deli style meats and cheeses. And those look great!!

I am American and only know about them from the Peas. Lots of funerals, lunches, but not those sandwiches.
