UGH! Why oh why did I think I could make DS grad centerpieces for his party? Why??
I am trying to get my silhouette to cut these stupid diplomas and my silhouette is acting crazy. Its supposed to be double cutting but when it cuts the second time it is all wonky!
Why did I think this was a good idea? All I freaking need is 10 diplomas. My studio looks like a tornado came through and in this process I am sure I have wasted a whole tree trying to get this to work right.
UPDATE:
OMG! I finally got it to work!
Actually, DH came in after hearing me slam things around. He turned it off, unplugged it, then slid the art that goes sideways back and forth a couple of times. Plugged it back in, and it worked like a freaking charm.
I messed with it for 6 hours and he 'fixes' it in 90 seconds.
Anyway, I am back in business! Thank you all for your support while I had my meltdown!

Have you tried a new blade. Do you need the double cut?

Like stinkerbelle I'm Silhouette-free so can't give you any decent help. Sounds like you're going through a rough patch of bad scrap karma... Commiserations and "only good vibes" (Studio Calico-approved post ) to you and that poor tree. Maybe it's time to break out all the leftover die-cuts, stickers and thickers that read "Wild & Free" and just stick those on some cardstock? "You've graduated. You're young. Be wild & free and let mom have her drink!"

Have you tried a new blade. Do you need the double cut? I've tried a new blade. Nothing changed. If I don't use the double cut it won't cut through all the way. I've tried changing the blade number highter and it rips the paper.

What about rotating the paper 90 degrees. I know with my Pazzles if I have trouble cutting a certain way rotating the paper sometimes helps. Something to do with the grain of the paper.

Party City is open! It sounds like it'd be easier just to buy centerpieces & check that item off your list. Your graduate & his guests will appreciate your effort to throw the party & will be focused on his accomplishments & future plans. Best wishes to you & your graduate...

Oh dear A couple of things I can think of... I presume you're not removing the mat and reloading it? Have you tried turning down the speed it cuts, sometimes that helps. I've only done double cut by leaving the mat in and repeating the job, not using the double pass option.

Technology is wonderful when it works, but when it doesn't, I hate it. I would say give it one more try using one or more of the suggestions above, and then if it doesn't work, I am with PaperAngel: let go of this little thing and buy something that works. Well worth the money when you stack it up against time and frustration.

I know that pressure and feel your pain!! You have a certain idea that you want to make come to fruition for this very special day and then something goes wrong.
Have you tried turning you cameo of and then on again? How is your mat? When I have an older mat things tend to move around a bit and then I know it's time for a new mat. When my double cut is acting wonky I will just send it thru twice. Cut it once and then send it thru again. I had this problem when I was working on decoration for my son's going away party and was using a thicker kind of foiled cardstock. And like you I was sweating bullets and upset cause it wasn't working out!
Good luck, hope it works out!!

That sounds really frustrating! Are you trying to cut Bazill? I have much better luck with Recollections brand. Maybe a run to Michaels would help the situation.

I'm glad there was a happy update.
When I used to use my original QK Silhouette, any problem would just make me miserable and take me right out of the scrapping mood.

I was getting so angry that I couldn't make the machine work that I just wanted to walk away and do something else - even though it is important to me that I make the centerpieces since DS asked me to. Glad you got it working!! I can totally feel your frustration. I'm working on decorations for DD's grad party and my laptop that runs my silhouette crashed 2 weekends ago. It was a cheap one and only used for my silhouette & internet browsing. I don't want to spend any $$ to fix and don't want to buy a new one right now. Thought I could get by with my cricut, but when it comes down to the custom things I'm used to doing, it isn't working great. So I think I will be purchasing a laptop this week I'm just glad I have almost 3 weeks until the party and started the decorations already. Of course it was that or start deep cleaning the house, so it was an easy choice! Good luck with the rest of your party prep!!

So glad you figured this out! I had the same thing happening with my Silhouette while I was making 200 invitations for my cousin's wedding I wasted SO much cardstock (and didn't have that much to spare!) before finally finding the same solution you found. When I tried it I thought 'how could this possibly fix this?', but it did, and every once in a while, when things started cutting wonky (like I said, I was doing 200 invites - lots of cutting!!) I would just turn it off, slide the blade housing back and forth about 10 times, and it would go back to working perfectly! In the almost 5 years I've had my silhouette I'd never run into that problem before, but glad I finally found the solution! And that you did too!
