OK I must know, WHY? Do you want to go? Are there any near you?
Between you and LavenderLayoutLady I'm wondering if you would go to crops if you knew they would be fun.

I have limited myself to 3 day crops. It's not worth it to me to pack for a 1 day. By the time i get unpacked and started everyone is wanting lunch. Our LSS sponsors good 3day crops. No kids, some make and takes, some product demos, giveaways, daily gift. I'm not a fan of games, I'm there to crop, so i never participate. They do play music in the room, but i typically have earbuds in. I normally crop with friends and we sign up to sit near each other. But even that is too much talking depending on who's there. These crops are either held at the store and you choose full or 1/2 table (priced accordingly). A little higher priced is when they hold at a local hotel and everyone gets a full 8 ft table. There is another group that does a 3 day held at the hotel where I work. I've never attended that one. They bring in outside vendors. You're near Omaha, right? I grew up in Omaha and am just wondering where the crops are. I have friends who go to crops in Nebraska (Grand Island and Lincoln) and sell as vendors. Yes in Omaha. The LSS is Busy Scrappin'. They used to be in Bellevue and moved to La Vista a few years ago. I worry about them because their store seems to have less product than just a year ago. However their crops always seem to be well attended. They have big 3 day crops about 4 times a year. They bring in guest designers, mostly mixed media. Dina Wakely, Dyan Reavely, Ken Oliver, and card maker from Taylored Expressions (she's from NE or IA). The other 3 day crop is by an outfit in Iowa. That's the one that holds the crop at the hotel at work.

The last crop I went to was at CKC, and they're always fun, for huge event space crops.
I've been to a few flops though. The worst was one at a LSS where they severely overbooked the crop and we had to sit three women to an 8 foot table.

Scrapbook Factory in O' Fallon IL has some. That's the only place I know of. I'm not sure how far that is for you. It's about 45 min away from me. I am 35 miles east of Stl.

My friend use to always bring her kid to crops. As soon as she would walk in the look of death from everyone was apparent. Funny thing is you wouldn't even know he was there.
She would bring his sleeping bag, portable DVD player with headphones & some snacks. He would lay under the cropping tables & usually fall asleep watching tv.
Problem is once the owners let her bring him than everyone else wants to bring their kids. It's a snowball effect & not all kids are well behaved.

I would be one of those having an internal melt down over her bringing her kid. Because babysitters are a thing. But my kids are grown now so hasn't been an issue for me for a very long time. In my opinion, it is not fair to a kid to bring them to an adult setting for hours on end. The child may not have minded being under a table watching videos, but for hours? I think max for this kind of thing is 2 hours. No kid should have to be other than a kid which is why I never liked setting my kids up to be irritating to others. Restaurants, movies, all of it. There are plenty of kid friendly places. They are only young for a little while.

I've never been to a crop before. I honestly don't know if there are any in my area.
The thing is: - I'm still in my 20s (at least for another hot minute, ha) - I don't have any scrapping friends - I don't know what to expect
I have a feeling I wouldn't like them, but I also have a lot of obstacles (even if they're just in my head, ha) in my way as well.

Where do you live? Maybe we can find you a crop to give it a try. There are all kinds of crops - huge convention crops, retreat/getaway crops, charity crops, small crops among a few friends, crops at stores, crops at churches, crops by CM or CTMH or other direct sales entity.
There are lots of great things about a good crop. It's kind of like playing jump rope. You can do it by yourself but when you team up with at least 2 others it opens up all kinds of jumportunities you never thought of before.

I guess I shouldn't say I've never went to a crop before. I was at a quick quotes private reserve and they had 2 nights of crop. By the time crop came around I was all scraped out. 3 whole day 8am-1am was too much. I was all scrapped out by the time crop time came around. I think I might have stayed an hour or so. Of course we did stop to eat and had an hour or two before the crop started.

I love crops and usually have a good time. Lately I have been going to my LSS for their late nighter (6 hrs on a Friday night) with friends that I actually met while going to crops.

Age doesn't matter in the scrapbook world. You already have something in common with everyone at a crop. My 3 day retreat that I go to has 12 women ages 30 to 70. It's really fun to have the variety.

Crops can be what you make of them. I'm usually an introvert but in scrapbking world I'm not. I like to socialize.
I really don't like to share my expensive dies with people or my machines because we'll they are expensive. If I know you no problem please feel free.
Kids are a no no to me. Parrents think their kids are cute but not everyone else shares that opinion.
In most cases there will always be something that occurs that isn't perfect crop etiquette but generally it's not so bad it ruins trip.
I used to love (when lss's were plenty around here) to go to a store crop. You could buy what you needed. match that cardstock perfectly. Find that certain embellishment that just made your project just so and or just buy something new.
I don't need games or prizes. Just a good crowd. I mean whole purpose is to get away and create. Have a good time and have fun.
