The B side thread got me thinking about what size patterns I use most. I prefer medium to small patterns and find the papers with the large and jumbo prints or focal points very difficult to work with. Does anyone else have this problem? What's your go to pattern size?

I generally go with smaller patterns but I do love me a bold pattern every once in a while.

I generally go with smaller patterns but I do love me a bold pattern every once in a while. This is me, too. I sometimes tuck a photo into a slit I cut in the big pattern, or cut up the pp into different sections to spread across 2 pages. Might use the large print pp for borders top & bottom, or left and right sides of a double page spread. Or make a larger matt for photo & journaling & title to sit on top of the pp on one page, maybe use the B side for the facing page.

What would you do with this?

I really prefer the smaller sizes. I find it difficult to work with the really large prints. Especially the ones with a corner design.

It totally depends. I want very small/minimal prints for backgrounds. I do like having larger patterns to use as accents/mats/embelliesments.

What would you do with this? Really, where does the photo go? I would never be able to work with that paper and I do single photo pages sometimes; so it's not like I'm trying to fit 8 photos on one layout. Seriously, how would anyone use that paper.

What would you do with this? I would put a cluster with a photo in the lower right section maybe close to the middle but so that you could still she the left most outline of the heart - add a shelf of paper or ribbon or whatever - a title above the photo and to the left a little journaling under the photo maybe on strips. The entire heart does not need to show just enough for the general form of it to show. grammadee did this with a similar feel Feb '17 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr

What would you do with this? I would use it similar to this: You could also just use one larger photo, or a smaller photo with my mats/paper accents to tone the background down a bit, and highlight the photo.

To answer the question I normally use small to medium but I love a good large print as well. I do not mind covering up part of it , but love the way the large patterns look.

What would you do with this? I would cut it in half right down the middle and put half on each side then put my photos on the outer margins.

I feel just as you do. I mostly use smaller prints. Or at least more subtle prints. The only time I find I am really able to use large, loud prints is when my layout is a journaling only layout, and there are no photos to compete with.

I like the smaller prints. Just a personal preference since the pictures you all have posted are very nice.

That was the SS page that I lifted for my LO. But I didn't have that pp, so I made something similar. I like the the idea of using an axacto knife to cut out some of the shapes inside the heat, & slipping photos behind. You ou could also do that with larger flower petals or leaves, as well.

I do a mix and try to choose a set of 9-10 papers per 6x8 album. This way, I use small patterns and neutrals for the 3x4 slots and larger for the 4x6.

I love jumbo prints but have to admit I find them hard to use. I definitely love having a big selection of small standard patterns.

I definitely prefer the smaller patterns but I think there is a place for the medium or larger patterns in my album (usually with only one photo).

It depends. If my layout is very photo heavy, which it usually is, then the larger prints can work just as well as the smaller. If I only have 2 or 3 smaller photos, then smaller prints work better for me, since they don't detract from my photos.
