So this story is local to me. In a nutshell, a lady wrote a review of a vegan restaurant (gave it 2 stars, she was being generous); said the food was good, but was a bit put off by a naked toddler with dirty feet climbing up onto tables and showing people their #butthole. Other small child kept staring at her and yodeling. So the restaurant owner, instead of being mortified and apologizing profusely takes to social media and unleashes on the customer and basically says they don't want any child hating people to eat at their restaurant. So it becomes a big thing and the local news channel interviews her and she changes her story starts saying well, the baby is potty training and just learned to take their diaper off and we'll, it IS summer, blah blah blah, bit maintains that anyone who has an issue with their naked child clearly isn't welcome at their business. So the comments on the local news Facebook page is actually hysterical, with reports of no a/C in this restaurant and sightings of said naked baby pooping in the floor of said establishment. There are calls for the health department to get involved etc., and screenshots of the owner's social media rants before they were deleted. Of course as I was reading g about rhis, my first thought was "oh, this is one for the peas!" wonkette.com/619890/vegan-restaurant-owners-triggered-just-because-diner-didnt-want-to-see-their-kids-buttholem.wmctv.com/wmctv/db_401748/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=xpKGrERU

The first link you have isn't them..idk why the site used the pic, second link has the "real" pic. I've been following this since it started and the owners are bat shit crazy. Also, there was one lady who left a review (before all of this became viral) because the toddler smeared feces on the wall and floor while she was there.

You need a different name - we've already had a Butthole-gate. It was to do with washcloths vs hands, soap or no soap, removable shower heads, etc.

Not to completely miss the point or anything, but people who use "it" as the gender neutral pronoun for children or any human really piss me off.

Wait- the restaurant owners are the parents of naked toddler?!? How in the world is that the least bit sanitary (or safe) in an eating establishment? I'd hope the health inspector would be checking that place out! ETA- "Mommy’s Little Bundle Of Health Code Violations" - (from the Wonkette article)

Having owned a restaurant briefly in my lifetime (well, DH did), I'm pretty sure that "naked child showing patrons their butthole" would definitely be something the health department would take issue with!

Most states have "no shirts no shoes" laws. That right there should be enough to get the Health Dept's attention.

The restaurant has deleted its Twitter account as well as its FB account. So while other people are still talking about it on FB and Twitter, the original threads aren't there.

OMG I want to know what happened! Has the health department shut them down? Surely they've had a visit at least?? The owners keep stating it's on their menu that the children may be present in the restaurant, and there's nothing wrong with naked kids running around. That's all fine and dandy at your home, but not in public and especially not in a restaurant where people are eating!

The business is a restaurant, so some of those laws would be regulated and monitored by the state. It would be different if it was a retail store selling clothing or hardware or anything else that isn't consumable. At least that's how it was here. We owned a couple retail stores and a restaurant but only the restaurant had to follow guidelines mandated by the state health department.

And apparently none of their food is made from scratch, all processed pre-packaged crap. Not quite what you'd expect from a vegan cafe.

According to the "barefoot alliance" - no state law requires footwear in a restaurant: www.barefootalliance.org/lawsregulations/

It's possible that "no shirt/no shoes" is part of city ordinances in some places.

From a business owner's perspective, I can totally understand why certain requirements would be implemented. It could be a liability issue for people to walk around without shoes inside their premises. I wouldn't want to be sued because someone stepped on a piece of broken glass, etc. with their bare foot when it's completely preventable.
