I sort lots of things by color and it usually works for me. Not with diecuts, though. Now I have about half sorted by color and half by collection. So I have to go through it all. This one doesn't have an easy reset button, unfortunately.

The biggest regret I have in regard to organizing is not putting my foot down and insisting on a craft room/office when we built the house. All the other house plans had an extra room except the one we got. I thought the space in the laundry room would be enough and I'm regretting it. The second regret was storing my things in a closet unbeknownst to me was directly under our shower. When it leaked it leaked into the closet. Third regret is putting everything I owned from the closet that was still good into big clear boxes and putting in my bedroom to deal with later. They're still there. I need to get my butt in gear and put together a room/area for my things. I put a bookshelf in the dining area so kids could access things they use for projects (Cricut for presentations, cardstock, markers, etc.) but it's now full. So my final (so many!) regret was not buying cabinets for the dining area so I could put things in there and shut the cabinet doors. My sister suggested it and I didn't think it was an expense I wanted at the time, but in hindsight it would have been the best solution overall. So in essence, spending the money or having the foresight to put an adequately sized dedicated area/room with sufficient storage overall would have made me happiest. DH telling me I didn't need it because the closet was enough and if I had too much to fit in there it was too much was something I should have told him was not making me happy and we needed to have a different solution. Edited to add: I resisted the organizing every thing by color and so glad I did. Kids would have asked me for something and I would have had to go through however many bins there were to find what they needed. So I will add that although I did not every do the color sort I would have added that as an organization thing I was glad I did not do. That sounds tough! Maybe one of those all in one units would be nice to save up for? Sounds like you could use something for yourself and not allow anyone to deter you from that!! A hobby isn't just some frivolous activity, it's a sanity saver! I hope you are able to find a way to make a space for yourself (or even convince the hubby that a move is in order). I wish you had the support of your husband and I'm sorry that you don't. Do you have a good sized yard? Can you fit in a she-shed? We used to have a tiny house and due to adding kids it just kept shrinking... At one point I scrapped on the hallway floor and my storage was the shelves on the bottom half of the 18 inch wide linen closet and what would fit under my bed. We finally moved and I didn't get my own room (well I did but it didn't last more than 6 months, darn kids...) so I sneakily took over the formal dining room when no one was looking I hope you figure something out that works!

My regrets would be buying make shift containers etc because I couldn't afford what I really wanted. Bought a lot of sterlite stuff but at the time it's what I could afford. Bought some containers (wire baskets and ceramic bowls) and a wire shelf because I thought they were cute and ended up not using them because they didn't fit for various reasons in my room. OMG, yes. I have so many different containers for exactly this reason. For some reason logic flew out the window when I saw adorable baskets. Thank heavens I don't do this any more.

Am I weird or do others when watching a room tour scratch your head as they show how they organize their stuff. Yes! I totally do this. It seems like more creative types have a very different process which would not work for me. P.S. Breaking up my OA stash, 6x6 pads and alphas would have made me crazy/crazier. P.P.S Thank you for the Evernote/YouTube tip. I will check some videos out. I like the idea of keeping the list on my phone because I always have my phone on me. I use the Notes app on my iPhone and I made a list of my Thickers. The note looks something like this: Afterglow Alyx Boardwalk Detail Doodle x 2 Fitzgerald black foam, gold glitter x 2 Fox white glitter x 2, gold glitter RSVP Shoebox Before I buy any Thickers, I check my list. It has saved me from re-purchasing the same colors/styles several times, especially at Tuesday Morning.

I've been watching the Nicole Jones room tour vids she has a beautiful room but the ways she organized some of her stuff drove me crazy. Am I weird or do others when watching a room tour scratch your head as they show how they organize their stuff. Her room is huge. It wasn't really that organized I thought. What amazed me was the amount of stuff that looked like it had never been opened and the duplicates of things. I was seriously wondering how long it would take to use it all up. I felt better about my stash after seeing hers. I'm sure it's a great space to scrap in.

I have a large amount of stuff too but I always feel better when someone has more haha!

Can I ask do you have a large amount of stamps and how did you categorize them on EN? Also how long did it take you? I've been toying with the idea of doing it but the sheer #of stamps I have deters me. I now have about 180 stamp sets and probably had about 120 when I categorised them. I just did them gradually, a few at a time. I guess you might want to allow up to 5 mins per set - depends how many sentiments you want to add as tags. I just did a few sets each evening or when I had a bit of sore time and I guess I probably finished them over 3-4 weeks - can't really remember now. I have 5 basic categories for storing my stamps so those are the keywords I used - sentiments & alphas, backgrounds, floral & nature, tags & frames, Christmas & then general images. I use my stamps a lot so this maybe hasn't increased the use, but it makes it easier to find things - e.g. I don't have to looks through them all to try and find the sentiment I want to use. SaveSaveI just downloaded evernote the other day after reading your post. I hope to start a catalog this week.

I was just thinking of the Wookiemouse challenge yesterday!!💕💕💕 Do you know her blog is still LIVE out there? When I was moving into my new room April-June, I went to it. Of course, so many of the links are broken because so many things are no longer made, but the bones of her methodology is still good - and there for your viewing pleasure. As to Evernote jennoconnell , I use the App on my iMac and on my iPhone. I have quite an extensive stash log in Evernotes. I've been using Evernotes now since 2015. {I keep meaning to do a blog post about this....} I have several Notebooks and here are just a few of them: - 6x6 Pads
- 6x6 Pads - Themed (all holidays, birthday, travel - I keep my theme stuff separate for ease of use)
- Border Punches
- Embossing Folders
- Inks (these are sorted ROYGBIV and it's a beautiful thing to behold)
- Paper Collections
- Shape Punches
- Stamps
- SG Sketches - one by one
- SG Sketches - by book
I grab most of my note images off of the internet. On some of the really old stamp sets, I had to take a picture and use that. Also, I tag my notes. For instance on a Word stamp set, I will tag it with every word and shape on that stamp, so if I want a stamp with a camera, I can search on the TAG "camera" and it will show me all my stamp sets that have a camera. I also TAG the stamp sets with a theme, so if I want to see all my Christmas stamps, I can see them..... I hope that helps. It's great for me as an online shopper to always know what I've got at home, and as a full-time working woman, it helps me "search" for things at home. It also helps me plan layouts/page kits, as I can "see" my paper stash anywhere I am....

Am I weird or do others when watching a room tour scratch your head as they show how they organize their stuff. I couldn't get beyond the overview of the room. It is so full of stuff it gives me the heebie jeebies. I couldn't function in a room with that much stuff out on display. After a crafting session i cannot start a new project until i put everything away and start from a clean slate.

I used a fuse tool to customize my own plastic pockets for my stamps and dies, because I didn't want to invest in the Avery Elle pockets + Fridge Bins solution. Biggest mistake ever. The binders were crazy heavy, and dies kept slipping out of the pockets, and I had to be so careful turning the pages I began to dread taking my stamps out. I fixed the problem by finding Fridge Bins for cheap at Winners (Canadian equivalent of TJ Maxx) and buying plastic pockets from the Japanese dollar store. The pockets are not very heavy plastic, but they work for my purpose, and are only 2.25 for a pack of 27. I cut up sheets of white cardstock as the pocket inserts, and the system works great now! I did the same thing and am seriously considering the bins for my larger stamps.
