I think it is too late to order from Amazon (didn't see any left on Prime). Saw some at Walmart but it didn't say they were safe.
Where are you getting your eclipse viewing glasses? We will be in school and it seems that they will require the kiddos to have them.

I'm going today to a local eye clinic. I saw that they have a sign for glasses where the proceeds benefit the local animal shelter.

Here is a list of reputable places to get them. One of the sites says if you don't want to buy in bulk that their glasses are sold at Wal-Mart or Lowe's. I am sure what you saw were fine. eclipse.aas.org/resources/solar-filters

I ordered mine on amazon based on an article I read about which ones were the safest. They arrived yesterday.

Try your local library. Ours had them for 50 cents. I bought some off Amazon last week...Bill Nye Science guy.
If you have a university or planetarium nearby you might contact them.

I hope to make a pinhole viewer, it can be as simple as 1-2 pieces of paper. That's what I used last time and had good results without actually looking toward the sun.

I'll look at the photos that get posted later.

Seems they are very hard to find now. I can't see spending money on something that will last about 2 1/2 minutes. I can go out I guess and experience it and not look up I guess.

Question, Will we at least be able to see a partial eclipse no matter where we are? No sure. We are in the 97% eclipse area. My daughters are in the 100% eclipse area. A friend is in the 80% eclipse area. I think you can google your area and enter solar eclipse 2017 and see what it tells you.

They need to be ISO certified with an ISO certification #12312-2. That at least gives you an idea of what's safe. I ordered mine a month ago.

There are also websites that let you enter your zip and you'll see what % your area will be at and when. We get to 91%.

Question, Will we at least be able to see a partial eclipse no matter where we are? Yes, it will be visible throughout the continental US. That is the big deal about this one.

Ordered ours from Amazon last month. After we heard there are fakes out there we tested ours and they're authentic. You put them on and if you can't see shit they're legit

DD will be home with me that week, and we'll be at about 82% where we live. Guess I should have thought to get some glasses before now! My sister lives in a city where it will be 99%. I would have considered driving down to visit her for it if it wasn't the week right before school starts. ETA: Maybe I should set up my mostly unused video camera on a tripod and just record it!

Maybe I should set up my mostly unused video camera on a tripod and just record it! You will need to get a special filter or lens for your camera (of any type) to be able to do this. Just an FYI

I bought mine at the grocery store where I work, they are proper ISO certified whatever..
check your local library, or chamber of commerce to see if they have any. I am right in the totality path, so they are hard to find here too..

I received an email from Amazon that the glasses I ordered a couple months ago could not be confirmed safe and they said not to use them and refunded my money. I have another set I ordered that have been certified safe. Just a heads up for anyone else who bought from Amazon.

I bought the glasses from American Paper Optics from Amazon. Someone local to me posted a list of 5 safe glasses and these were on the list. I ordered them a few days ago though because I was worried when I didn't see my original ones on the safe list.
The ones they refunded me and said not to use were the CPPSLEE Solar glasses.

Check for ISO label on glasses. I saw them at Kroger for 1.99. I can't believe the same glasses I ordered for 11.99 are now selling for 89.99 and 149.99 via Prime on Amazon!

OP, I got mine at eclipseglasses, but I paid about $30 for 25 pairs. Now they want $100 for the same 25 pairs.

We went to a wedding tonight and the wedding favors were eclipse-viewing glasses. (The groom is recently retired from NASA.) Everybody at our table was pretty thrilled!
