I hope you enjoy your new tool. I tried it for awhile, loved how inexpensive the refills were, but I am left handed and it was really awkward to use. Not horrible but enough of a pain to make it not the thing I reached for.....ahhh first world problems!!! LOL! I'm a lefty too, and I haven't noticed it being awkward. I thought it felt pretty good in either hand. I felt trying to line up the adhesive awkward...I couldn't really see where i was placing it and I can't manage anything with my right hand....glad it works for you!!

I use my left hand for eating and ATG use, but almost everything else, I use my right. I am a mess at sports like golf or baseball because both hands want to be dominant so nothing feels right. I also think I have really long arms, so that helps.

one of my best tips (at least for me, lol) is: watch a youtube video on how to load and re-load it! There's a diagram on it, but still... for the first 6 months or so, every time I had to re-load the tape, I couldn't remember how to wind it around the rollers without watching a video. another of my tricks: don't press the tape down at first; just set the piece of paper down lightly-- if you do that, it's not too difficult to lift it up again if you need to adjust it slightly. I watched three different videos on loading. Did you see any about shimming the ATG to keep the tape in place? Luckily I found out about it before I was in too deep with mine or I wouldn't have loved it as much as I do. You might never need to do it, but it might be something to keep in mind.

I've had mine for close to 10 years and I love it, the refills are so economical. The only thing that I don't like, is that the adhesive is pretty sticky, so once its down, its down for the most part.

Tip to share:
I use my ATG for cards so I don't buy the acid free tape. If I have to remove a panel/piece from a card, I use my Cricut metal spatula to slide it between the 2 pieces and it helps get the panel off with out tearing it and without bending it. The spatula does get adhesive on it, but I just rub it off with my fingers.

Congrats on your deals, seveerb! I hope you love it as much as the rest of us do. I love my ATG! Not only do I never run out of tape (I ordered by the LOTS!) but I also never lose it on my scrapbooking desk under the mounds of scraps. This, except, I can still lose mine under the crafty mess, but it's easily found again.

I'm a righty and found it awkward at first too, but hate to craft without it now.

Glad you like it!
When I saw people using ATGs in YouTube process videos, I was tempted. But it just seems so big. Too large a footprint for me, so I stick with my small, handy Dotto adhesive. I don't know what I will do if it is ever discontinued.

For all of you who have trouble with the ATG or don't want to invest in the gun you can use the tape without the gun. I have the ATG gun but 99% of the time I use the tape. I have better control. A sweet lady in the framing department at Hobby Lobby taught me that trick.
I will try to explain how I do this. I lay the start of the tape down on my project. Then I roll the tape down the length of my paper. Cut & burnish the tape down. You don't have to burnish but I like too. Lift the paper off like our white double sided tape a lot of us use. I have a sticky strip. Super fast and easy.
A lot of you know I am dyslexic. I hope I explained this correctly. If I didn't just let me know. I would have done a quick video but I am not set up right now for making videos.

I own an ATG but I don't use it. The tape sticks down too well. I am always having to reposition my stuff and the ATG is not forgiving at all.
I think I better get it out and try it again, though. So many people rave about it.

I lost mine for several months and lasted about 2 weeks without one and ordered another (that almost killed me!!). Now I have two and it makes me TWICE as happy. One for upstairs and one for down! It's really the best thing ever. I'd go without a lot of scrappy stuff before I gave up my ATG

I purchased my ATG several years ago and it is truly a wonderful tool! As others have said, it takes a bit of working with it to get the "hang" of it but it wasn't anything major. Now I can use it and change the tape with no trouble. That said, I still use Tomboe glue runners on the smaller stuff...and, no, the Tombows don't last long if you use them a lot.

You can get an ATG at JoAnn's right now with the 60% off. The gun and two rolls of tape for $16.

I am debating it. Honestly I keep buying other adhesives and I'm just not happy with them at all. But this seems so big I'm intimidated by it.

950nancy, that tip about JoAnn's having a 60% off coupon was just the push I needed. I figure for $16 if I hate it oh well. I look forward to trying it tomorrow.

So many things were on sale for 40-50% off already. I really wanted to buy one, but didn't have anyone on my Christmas list that needs one.
