Wings are baking in the oven. Chili is cooking in the IP. The air fryer will make an appearance in a hour to make onion rings and hush puppies. I do have celery sticks, so I'm proclaiming it a well-balanced gameday meal. ESPN is now on the television. 71 minutes until the College Gameday theme song. Not that I'm excited or anything.

I'll be at the UVA and William and Mary game in Charlottesville on Saturday where Robert Lee won't be broadcasting for ESPN. I'm looking forward to tailgating more than the game!

My youngest daughter will be at the Clemson game on Saturday with her friend and her friend's Clemson loving family.
We're a Gamecock household, though. We'll be playing NC State.

I have Game Day on. It is raining here, so we are spending today parked in the family room, watching college football. I am still recovering from the first 3 quarters of our game on Thursday night, when I wasn't sure my heart could take it.

From what I've seen of the Texas Longhorns so far today, I'm not impressed. Their offensive line is a joke and their defense is nonexistent. I can't see that anything has changed from the last few years, even with a new coach and a fancy new locker room.

Not an avid college football fan, but it's going to be a long season for my alma mater who lost the home opener today (CAL 35 UNC 30).
ETA: Although not a fan of either team, our son attended & enjoyed the local NCSU v USC game (USC 35 NCSU 28).

Texas Tech looked pretty good and TCU is showing some promise too.

<<<gator alum. Mom to a tiger and a Seminole. Life gets spicy from now until December. lol Waving from CA to you! Your oldest DS is my favorite! Oh my. Yesterday was bad day for all of the anxious family. No teasing going on around here-just lots of grumbling and mumbling. I was thinking I need to make a shirt that is orange, blue, garnet, gold, purple and yellow striped. Then everyone went and bumbled up the opening games so I think I will stick with white. (and a little orange and blue 'cause you know, die-hard fan and all that. lol)

<<<gator alum. Mom to a tiger and a Seminole. Life gets spicy from now until December. lol Girl, what isn't going on with your Gators??? Florida State v Alabama. Biggest opening day game ever. Florida State is ready to roll! We will be watching the game from Stuttgart, Germany probably kicking ourselves that we arent at the game. We had 4 tickets that we ended up selling to friends. Hate, hate missing it but couldn't justify the trip right now. Hey you! I was hoping you would show up!! I wish I knew what the hell was going on with those boys. I suppose we did good considering, but I am already not a fan of that second quarterback they put in the game...seems like all he did was run backwards. I'm beginning to the think the quarterback position is like the Defense Against the Dark Arts class...all kinds get a chance and none stay.

We listened to the game driving home last night. TCU rolled over Jackson State 63-0. I felt bad for JSU, it wasn't that long ago that TCU was on the receiving end of those games. The 2nd string got some action which was exciting to see. DH was disappointed in his Longhorns and I was amused by b.u.'s loss to an on-line bible college.

If that is bumbling, I'll take it every Saturday.

Not impressed with the Husker defense. I do not understand why we did not blitz when Arkansas State was a passing team and their QB is not a running threat. We just let him throw and throw and throw. We should have put the game away and let up. A long and terrifying game. Oregon will kill us next week if we play the same way.
On the brightside, our new QB can pass and our starting running back looked fantastic. And we won.

GO BLUE! Michigan came back strong after the half and pulled out a great win against the Gators.

Hi anxiousmom! Well, our game didn't turn out quite as planned. I truly wasn't too upset about the loss. I mean, I was pissed, but I also saw some real bright spots until our QB went down with a knee injury. A season ending, soul crushing injury. Until then, I figured we would work out the kinks (hello special teams) and would see Alabama again in the playoffs. Now, we have a true freshman lining up behind an O line that has a really bad habit of letting our QB get crushed. We made huge mistakes against a team that you can't make mistakes against and left points on the field that really cost us big time. Our defense is rock solid and will only get better as the season unfolds. We just have to protect our very young QB and work out whatever the hell went wrong with special teams. Ok, that is my Susie Sunshine outlook this morning. Yesterday, I was not a happy camper. 😤😁 GO 'NOLES!!!! >>>--------;-> 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

Wow. What a game the Georgia Tech-Tennessee game was to close out the weekend! What a great and satisfying first weekend of college football. There really is no more entertaining sport out there, IMO, than NCAA football.
