Man, I don't want to be the Party Pooper here, but I wish she would do a 'basics' release instead of these themed releases. I need grid cards...cards with room to write....cards in generic colors that will go with everyday stuff. I miss the grid card packs SC used to sell. I am almost out! Kelly Purkey has some nice grid packs of 3x4 cards available. They're a good weight, and some of the packs are b&w, while others coordinate with certain months. ETA a link. Looks like she currently only has the b&w available. kellypurkeyshop.com/collections/be-basic-paper-packs

If I ever were to start my scrappy line, I'd want it to be full of great basics. It drives me nuts that it's so hard to find the basics now but we have 10 different sloths to choose from. I wish FYC or someone would do it.

But at the same time, I don't want sporadic basic releases, that kind of stuff should be available in the shop year round. If I ever started a scrapbook company I would have basics that were made consistently and always in stock (albums, page protectors, white cardstock, blank/grid journal cards, alpha stickers, etc.). I would also make sure that I made the same styles over and over so people could rely on consistency. Then I would have seasonal/regularly releases of themed/unthemed collections that would not restock after they sold out. But then, I doubt I will ever start a scrapbook company. (Although it sounds ridiculously fun and like a dream job, it would be a poor use of my law degree, ha!).

You can do both - and do them well. It also drives me nuts we can't seem to get good, basic font stickers year around. Sure, we might get a set in a kit but why can't I get non-thicker font stickers to use in PL year around? Basic Grey used to have some that were a great font (SC co branded them at one time). Or even stickers like the old Sass A Frass Lass ones. I miss those so much!

Kelly Purkey has great alphas and she usually has them in stock, although I see right now she only has a variety of colors and white of the basic font, but no black or grey. She does have black & grey in a wonky font. So it's not as consistent as I would like, but it's still something. I try to keep 4-5 sets of white & black on hand so I can always write whatever I want without having to count out letters first. Though honestly, I've found myself using alpha stamps more frequently because I don't have to worry about running out!

I don't get her kits so I don't automatically think to go look. Might have to make it a habit to check in on release day to see if there new colors I need. Thanks for the reminder!

Or even stickers like the old Sass A Frass Lass ones. I miss those so much! I have a bunch of Simple Stories alphas, as well as some older KP ones, that I used to use a lot for PL. The SS ones were great at first- good size, some good colors, and a somewhat reasonable quantity of each letter. Then they made them much thinner, like paper, which made them harder for me to use, but they did make sheets with lots of numbers which would've been great if I'd kept up with PL. I'm not sure if they still have them or if they're doing them in good colors. I should probably consider destashing some of mine, not that I think about it.

Elle’s Studio Jane alpha stickers are basic and an awesome size for PL. They are thinner weight and only come in the typical Elle’s Studio colours. I wish they’d offer a wider array of colours. They do offer basics: black, white, and red.

Happy to say that I got my replacement order today...safe and snug in a padded envelope that was well sealed! The cardboard ones with her logo are cute, but not useful for more than one kit (without extra tape).

burnbright there are loads of free resources out there for icons - start here and lose yourself for a while!! I wanted a couple of similar icons for my blog and once I'd got a few together, I was able to adapt others for my own needs quite easily too. Have fun! burnbright Ali is not that kind of designer. She doesn't come up with her own vector icons or imagery. Those are all sourced online. You can find pleeeenty of free icon packs online (just beware of malware websites). Iconfinder is a good place to start. Here's the direct link to their many free icon packs to add an extra resource to what elegantsufficiency already listed. They've got you covered for all major themes: everyday, travel/adventure, Christmas, Halloween, food, etc. Behance has some nice free sets straight from the designers as well. ETA: this free coffee icon set has been used in several coffee stamp sets (KP, SC). Thank you both I will look into the rabbit hole of icons when I have a same time to kill.

Ali did a story q&a these were the most relevant questions and answers. With so many people wanting the read kit reproduced a release actually sounds like a good idea

I find myself wishing for a basic black&white TN paper pack from KP with journaling and title spots (she has such a great eye for balance), maybe some basic prompts. I love using her TN papers for 3x8 albums... Sigh.

She is reeeeeally stuck on that maroon/hunter green/ mustard color combo that is reminiscent of 2003. I hate it. I am referring to the foot related disease email.

Give me a true red! ETA: I am not spending a dime! Her prices are borderline insulting anymore. I have so many other foodie options from KP and others in my stash. No thank you.

I caved and bought a stamp set (coffee one) and picked up the new pink ink pad. I have no foodie stuff in my stash... Everything else - too expensive and not crazy about the color scheme. The rubber shapes - more than $1 a piece. I think that's crazy. I do agree that her prices are almost insulting. The stamp set was overpriced, but I figure I'll use it for various things, and I haven't bought anything from AE since I unsubscribed last year.

$55 for the main collection kit?!? Holy crap. That's more than the main DD kit!! I'm willing to bet main DD kit will be 55 this year. This Foodie line is not to my taste (oh, the irony). Way too dark. In contrast, Kelly Purkey's current food-themed kits far more appealing to me although they share a similar (albeit lighter) colour scheme (and a larger, better stamp). I also fail to understand the repetition of the icons. That's a lot of pizza slices and avocados to document. And I say that as someone who loves pizza and home-made guac. I do love the completely black 3x4 card that simply reads: "hangry." Comparing both releases:

I think you guys are being generous. I think it’ll be in the $60s. The gradual price increases are to prepare everyone to drop some serious coin in September without batting an eyelash. I’m just thankful I don’t like her stuff. No way could I stomach these nonstop price increases.

I like some elements of the release, but the awful yellow makes it an easy pass. Plus, did anyone catch that the flat sticker sheets have gone from 10 sheets (5 designs) for $9.99 to 6 sheets (3 designs) for the same price? #nothankyou
Glad I have KP sets to document my food stories!

That way, any DD customers complaining would get handslapped by fangirls on social media who'll go: "ALL main collection kits have been 55 this year! Get over it. This isn't Ali raising her price tag to take advantage of December Daily, UUUUUUUUGH!"
