I decided to sign up, and see if I liked it. We have had 2 prompts so far. I think I like it. It is very very much like her 31 things/31 more things class, which I liked. People are posting what they are doing in her Craft the Story FB group. I personally have not completed the prompts because I was deciding how I wanted to do them. In the end, I have just decided to keep each prompt separate (in case there are some I don't feel like doing) and just making them whatever size/putting it where ever it makes sense vs making a whole separate album for them. I did briefly consider a travelers notebook, but I like the idea of the TN more than actually working in a TN lol.
HTH.

I'm on the third lesson of the Travel Product Play 2 Class with Ingunn. Is anyone familiar with her work? Does she do a lot of videos? I'm 2.5 minutes in and had to turn it off. It's so unprofessional and just awkward. She's called products by the wrong name 3-4 times and does this sheepish "what is wrong with me?" thing. Why not rerecord if you think you've messed up that much? First lesson with Amy Gretchen was great. 2nd lesson with Jenny was not that great. Nothing earth-shattering. 11 minutes to turn a map into pocket. I haven't watched Ingunn's video yet but I watched Jenny's over the weekend and was really annoyed when the video went OUT OF FOCUS about 1/3 of the way into her walkthrough. Why didn't she re-record it and/or why didn't anyone who reviewed the video tell her to? I understand these are not professional video people but a decent level of quality is expected when you pay for a class. I did love Amy's video and she's the reason I bought the class. Her video last year was also great and professional-quality.

I'm not a big fan of her voice/speech patterns, though that's just a personal preference.

Her pages are beautiful, she has a very clean, distinct style, and her photography is amazing. But as for videos, she's only done a few, to my knowledge. Videos, especially process videos with explanations, are a skill and not something that you just do a couple of times and are brilliant at. I don't think it would be worth it to me to be on a DT if video skills were required. I don't know how well class contributors are paid for their participation - it seems like a bad idea to agree to do it if you don't have skills and an even worse idea for the brand to sell unwatchable/awkward content. I guess if AE had to arrange a proper videographer/set up for all her contributors the class would cost a lot more. But maybe it would be worth it? I wouldn't be able to watch and I'd be pretty annoyed about spending money on it.

Sure - the first lesson was good. But since then? No, its not worth it. I loved last years class but this one has left me pretty disappointed. I honestly don't think AE can turn this class around unless the rest of the lessons are out of this world, good. Or maybe if she threw in some free digitals or something. But right now, I am at the point I think this is a lost cause. SOMEONE should have helped Ingunn with her video if she isn't good at it (which I totally get...but ask for help then).

Thank you for this! I've only ever purchased one other class from Ali, and it was her lessons only. I was excited to try this class but the last 2 lessons have been horrible. So bad that I even started a convo. I'm not expecting anything out of it, but I felt like they should know, this class sucks. It's not a good reflection on their brand.

I doubt they do anything, but atleast they will know. Also? I think Ingunn does great work - when it isn't in video. I just dont think they should have used her for videos if they obviously aren't her thing.

Kudos to those of you who are starting conversations. They should really know that the paid content is not up to the AE brand standards. But again, does anyone at AE or Inked even care?

Kudos to those of you who are starting conversations. They should really know that the paid content is not up to the AE brand standards. But again, does anyone at AE or Inked even care? Probably not. I remember back when Ali announced DD Product Play that there were several posts on FB wondering if they should buy Product Play vs spending that money on other classes. I responded to one of them explaining my reasons for skipping the class (not wanting to pay for a class not fully taught by Ali being the main reason) and Ali responded pretty deffensively. I got the feeling that she fancied herself pretty clever to figure out a way to profit off of a class she had put minimal effort into. I can't blame her for trying to find efficencies to maximize her proffit margins, but being completely honest it sounded like content that should have been posted to her blog. I am not suprised the quality is inconsisstant with this model.

Standard canned response from the good fellow at Inked. Perhaps if enough of us complain something will come of it? I will definitely think twice about ever buying a class from AE again.

Thats what I figured would happened. I haven't gotten my response yet but I doubt it is anything other than 'thanks for letting us know'.

Thanks to everyone for posting these reviews. I was really considering getting this class (because FOMO), but now I’m feeling better about passing. I know Ali’s album is last this year instead of first, but I don’t want to risk it.

I get so annoyed every time I have to contact CS. This time it was because the WITL 3x8 page dividers I bought are too small and the tabs do not show up above the page protectors. (The 6x8 ones are fine and do show up at the top as they should). First I got a response that they were supposed to be that size (er..??) then they asked me to send photos as proof. I find that really annoying and insulting. All they have to do is stick one in an album and see for themselves.

AE’s content for the class isn’t even finished yet, so I’d imagine it will be an album full of repetition (aka just get it done fast). I am glad that people are posting reviews. I won’t even bother picking up the class in a sale. Such a shame.

How were Ingunn's pages? Were you inspired? I like her style a lot. I'd want to know if Ali provided equipment and training. If not then I fault the company not the person.
I love watching Amy's videos on You tube. She generally inspires me more than Ali and I like following on with her thought processes as to how and why she puts her pages together. I was really inspired by Amy's class last year, but I am not buying this years. I didn't buy a lot of the Travel product this year and I'm not sure that I need to take another travel class to be honest. I think I can get enough inspiration by just watching last years class, Amy's you tube and looking at other web sites.

I didn't find her pages or style to be at all inspiring. Her processes were already covered by Jenny...use a map to create a pocket/fold out. She used a rather ugly vellum paper to create 4 title pages for her album. The rest was just photos and journaling. Even without her poor video presentation skills her album was not the least bit creative or inspiring for me. So if we get canned responses from Inked, what else can we do? Does Ali have a more direct email?

I think her album is less inspiring than her regular pages. And I'm a fan of her regular pages. But I do think she is better with full page layouts than with pocket pages.

Ingunn's videos have to be the worst videos I have ever watched. I love to laugh at myself, and love a bit of goofy...kinda like CZ...not everything is perfect when you handmade it kind of thing. This was ridiculous. I enjoyed the pages, and I like her but she needs video help. Im not saying I can do it, but I am not charging people to watch videos of me either

People are commenting in Ali's Fb group about how good her videos were! Im like, what?!? I did ask Ali in the group if she gets the class feedback from customer service and she said 'generally they review it' . WTF. You'd think since its her class and business she would want to know what people are saying. But I guess not?

Previous years the sale has been right after July 4, so who knows. I am just planning my purchases, so I make the most out of shipping costs.

Someone asked in the DD FB Group a day ago: Are there any plans to have a Christmas in July sale? I know in the past, the sale has taken place around July 4th. And Ali responded: "There is! Details to come."

Video quality issues aside, I don’t think any of the contributors thus far have really used the products in an interesting way. I really loved Amy's 3X8 album. This was the first lesson and it showed unique ideas and used a lot of the kit pieces -- that is the reason I purchased the kit. But so far I have been slightly disappointed with the other contributors' albums. Jenny's, Ingunn's and Jen's are nice but pretty basic and no new ideas really presented. I did like two ideas from Jenny's 3X8, Ingunn's photos are spectacular and I liked the template she shared but I agree the video seemed amateur for this class level. I liked a few ideas from Jen's 6X8. All in all, Amy's album was the best in regards to layout and ideas and use of product. I loved Amy's so much and was hoping the others would be equally as good. I am holding out hope that Ali's contribution will be good. It really felt like some of the albums were put together in a rush in order to meet this class deadline.
