AE or Katie don't have a system in place to check which quotes she's already used and how much time/many kits back? That's odd (especially since Ali has her go-to inspiration sources so is likely to accidentally reuse some of their famous citations). Plenty of easy free solutions to use as for this.

Not to pile on, but the card on the left with the white background is the *exact* same design as one of the other 4x6 cards from the Breathe kit - I believe it was the Oprah Winfrey quote about this moment being the only one we have now. I really do like the design, so I don't mind the recycling quite as much on that front, but it seems so lazy to me - a year apart I could totally get, but not 3 kits apart? They've used that design a number of times. It's a simple design that typically works with a lot of styles. So that's very much an Ali thing I don't have an issue with, as long as it's not every month. I'm going to finish up the year, but then I'm for sure cancelling or long term skipping. It'll bring me to a full 3 years as well. And 2 years with the SBTM. I don't expect any changes that will make me want to stay, but my OCD wants album consistency and likes to round things out which the end of the year does. I'm also skipping Gratitude as it's not going to arrive until the end of November when I won't need it for my gratitude album. And most of the other kits have gratitude things I can use.

Has anyone seen the new collection Ali is releasing--a kid's collection called "my story." aliedwards.com/2019/07/introducing-my-story-a-collection-for-kids-kids-at-heartI think it's cute, but the prompt cards don't seem that well thought out and I don't have a need for it. My daughter is too old for it anyways, but the prompts/set-up seems to not be thought through that much. They are cute products, but if I was doing a "kid's mini album" I would prefer there to be a more thought through layout--e.g. a cover page, a variety of coordinating prompts that go together to make a story, maybe an overall theme, like "my summer vacation" or something. The prompts that are included seem highly specific and all over the place, except for the one page with a few "general" themed prompts but not a lot of space to write. I think it would've made a better kid if those prompts each had their own page "my family" "my friends" "my favorite foods" etc., with space for journaling and maybe a photo. It was very cute to have the girls introduce the kit and I liked that she filmed a little of them playing with it too. But I was surprised she didn't have photos printed for them and have them actually try to put together an album, it seems like they were just playing with the products to play and not actually create anything. Which is fine... but I think it's a bit high of a price point for just random crafty play. I think some of the products could be used by adult scrapbookers and I think that was her hope in designing the kit in case it turns out there aren't that many kids interested. It's also called "kid's" but it really seems to be "girls." Although I know the majority of scrapbookers are women, kids are more open to this type of project regardless of gender and I think the colors/icons would turn away most boys.

I am so tired of the quote cards as a whole. I wonder if she reads here and sees how much I complain and then doubles the quote cards the next month? The past couple kits are full of quotes. I'm NOT into this style and putting these constant quotations in my scrapbook.
I guess it's maybe time for me to move on too. I have been a subber from the start. I'm also just DONE DONE DONE with the throat clearing during the videos. I listen while I'm at work in the background and it's so irritating. Maybe I wouldn't care or notice it as much if I was sitting and watching the video? It isn't occasional throat clearing. It's to the point where she needs to edit these process videos - just go back and edit this shit out Ali. Drives me crazy.

Although I know the majority of scrapbookers are women, kids are more open to this type of project regardless of gender and I think the colors/icons would turn away most boys. I just saw the video. It's a cute idea, but 3x8 is the wrong size for a kids album. It should be 4x6. A size kids can easily slip pictures into without needing to trim things. The girls introducing it was a very nice touch, but I feel they weren't briefed on items beforehand and were trying to figure it out as they went along. Which for a parent or adult scrapbooker we'd figure it out, but if showing it to a kid to see if they're interested. They may not understand what it is or how to put the album together. Of course if the album was sold on its own I'd buy 2. I love navy albums and love the charm idea vs the bookplate. I'm sure if they sold it on its own it would sell out in about 20 minutes which is probably why they're including it in the kit only.

The rubber pieces for the new kids kit are $9.99! What is with these prices? Sheesh. I haven't bought anything in awhile because I've gone totally digital and her digital kit prices are ridiculous. If I see something in a kit I can't live without, I just use it for inspiration and make it myself. You can buy FULL kits with papers, pocket cards, and embellishments from digital scrapbooking places for $5-$10. Ali charges $14 for pocket cards and a few digital stamps-no background papers. At some point, it will have to slow for her. She can't keep charging her ridiculous prices and expect people to pay.

The kit + 1 embellishment like the rubber pieces is $50. I feel there are far better gifts for children in that (expensive) price range. I guess the AE fangirls will eat it up though.

I'm NOT into this style and putting these constant quotations in my scrapbook. I'm reinvigorated after buying a couple of 3x4 card sets from Kelly Purkey's spring sale. So many options, far less quotes, loads of journaling space (and prompts). I'm not encouraging people to switch to KP but I must say that it was a nice change in my documenting pace and motivation to work with something that drives me to add text rather than gives me random quotes to "work around." Obviously, not all documenters are the same and to each their own, etc.

In reference to the kids release: Cute. Love the idea. Tad bit expensive. My kids both ‘scrapbooked’ at a certain point and I think she will find many takers for this kit. I wish it was a tiny bit more gender neutral. I realize she will have more people who buy this for girls as opposed to boys, and I see she’s not gone completely pink purple unicorns & rainbows. But I still want more neutrality I’m not really her target audience, my kids are grown but I don’t have grands yet. My great nephew probably wouldn’t mind documenting his dirt bike rides, we took pictures of his wheelies you know, but that’s too much to pay for a binder & page protectors & chuck the rest. 3rd grade me thought those multicolored in one pens were super cool! Glad to see it’s still a ‘thing’ all these years later. Cute. But I don’t have use for it at that price point.

While I love the concept, the price is a killer. I simply cannot wait to see the DD pricing this year. She’s had several releases with high price points. I think it’s to get everyone complacent for the price hike coming.

The kids kit is cute. I give her credit for continuing to try expand her brand and audience. The price is bananas though.
I’m looking forward to the Read release she said was coming this fall but I’m sure the price will be high. She didn’t rely so heavily on the quote cards early on in the kits, correct? I don’t know for certain but I didn’t seem to notice it, and the past year they have been overwhelming. I skimmed back through the kits to see when/if that changed....it’s hard to tell.

I agree the kids kit is way too expensive and should be 4x6. Last year on clearance I picked up a few travelers notebooks in hearts and unicorns design. I just gave those to my girls so need for this release. I have a 9 year old who is really into the idea of scrapbooking and I would totally buy her an album like this IF it wasn't so expensive and I would absolutely hate having to help her edit all photos to fit in this format. I don't print at home and that would get pretty expensive.

The kid’s kit seems much more Inked/SC/ABM than Ali Edwards. My thought is that Inked wanted to release a kid’s kit and thought it would get the most exposure through AE.

I don't print at home and that would get pretty expensive. My daughter has recently gotten into scrapbooking and I agree the photos were an issue because I wasn't going to spend my scrapbooking time editing her photos, plus she wants to be the one to select them. I ended up downloading the persnickety prints app to her phone and she can edit and select photos whenever she feels like it. As a bonus, with it on her phone all her photos are right there and she can edit them in other apps first like instagram.
Once she's done with a batch I order them. So far it hasn't been that pricey because she really hasn't picked that many photos compared to what I do (I'm pretty scrapbooking obsessed haha) and then it takes her awhile to put together the pages from them. I set her up with a 6x8 pocket page album and I pretty much have her print all vertical photos as 3x4 and horizontal as 4x6, I haven't gotten her into combining smaller photos onto a canvas or 6x8 or anything. I just explained the process, walked her through the first photo and then left her to add photos as she felt like it--she's 14 but it seems like an easy enough process for a 9 year old. It took her a few weeks to edit/add photos for her first batch and it only turned out to be about $20. Once she's added enough to order I reviewed the selections, put in my credit card info and checked out. I print at home for myself but this works really well for her because she can do the work herself.

And the quote cards were one of the reasons. I'm all for filler cards, but do they always have to be empty quotes?

I do see the other designers shining through but I think the concept was Ali's originally because she had come up with the kid's kit for DD and I guess reception was good enough to do another kit. I believe she mentioned it as a possibility at the time. I think the real impetus for the kit was Anna showing an interest in Ali's projects and her wanting to create something for Anna to work with.

I would totally buy one of the navy 3x8 albums, but I have no need for a slightly girlie kids kit.
I bought one of those multi-color pens a couple of years ago when SC had a pop-up pen shop--that has been a life-saver when I'm writing things on our fridge calendar (red for DS14 school & tournament team events, blue for DS11 school events, green for DS14 school sports, black for family events, purple for me).

I think it’s to get everyone complacent for the price hike coming. I agree I think the price is on the high side for kids. It may have been better if she offered the items separately. The binder and the cards. That may seem more appealing. I think she would have sold quite a bit of the 3X8 albums if offered alone. And she may have sold more of the cards if it was only $15. It will be interesting to see how the sales go for this collection.

I am over here like $15.99 for that empty spaced stamp set. She couldn’t add anything else? Really? I was also surprised that AE shared Aaron’s modern family structure through Aubrey’s book. Nothing wrong with it AT ALL, but he seems like a very private person. That stamp set is a little sad. Aubrey's family looks almost like Anna's except that Aubrey paired everyone up and her mom isn't remarried. She is paired with her mom, Ali and Aaron, Simon & Anna, and then the two boys. It's an interesting way to do it.

It's an interesting way to do it. I thought Audrey might have been influenced by the fact she was doing this project with Anna. Considering her age, she could've simply split herself off from her brothers and put herself next to Anna in her family tree because of her proximity to Anna and the gender split (all the boys are grouped together on the left, the girls on the right). I wouldn't read more into it than that. Audrey seems a tad younger than Anna and like she looks up to her a little. That likely factored into her "design decision."
