I just watched the video. Damn, I like the new stamp. I have the read story kit one, but the new one is better suited to my style. Much more options to make my own cards. Don't know yet if I'm buying or not. Got a small windfall in the mail last week. My birthday was in the summer, but my aunt had the wrong address on the card, and I literally just got it. So I could technically get it, but not sure yet. I'm not interested in anything else.

I don't like the colors of the kit. It's just too drab for me. And I have several read stamps from other companies. So I'll spend my $55 on books instead.

I love the hearts. They were gone at 10am when I finally opened the website.
I'd also grab the cards and the 4x6 stamps. But I don't need any of it and being an audiobook "reader" a lot of the embellishments wouldn't work for me.
If the hearts come back in stock I'll order. If not I'm okay passing until there's a sale or well just passing altogether.

I wonder how many people are going to miss the note on the Read stamp that’s a reprint of the Read Story stamp....and end up with a duplicate. I anticipate 3-5 people to complain about it on the FB group. And then they will be shamed for posting anything negative. Odd that she didn’t create a new stamp.

I feel the same, I don’t know why she doesn’t ever use any contrasting/complimentary colors to make the other colors pop. It is so dreary. All she needed to do was use a pretty butter yellow instead of the goldenrod, or a red burgundy rather then one that reads so brown. Or a turquoise blue rather then baby blue. I am with you, there is nothing I want. I like the designs, but not the color scheme at all.

I only picked up the hearts, the chipboard and the die-cuts. Passed on everything else.

I saw the Instagram post and first thought was oh please don't tell me people paid a boat load for those hearts. I went to site & was completely shocked to see those hearts sold out at $5 for 8! That's 62 cents a heart and some are a half inch. I just bought some felt for a halloween project, 39 cents for a letter size piece. They would be very simple to make, and really could do it all by hand, cut and stitch. I get that the color scheme matches, but just seems like a crazy mark up for 8 tiny hearts. You could probably actually find something similar for sale in any craft store, like a whole bag of them.

I was so looking forward to this release but don’t like the colors at all- so drab and dreary. I might purchase the digital version if I can learn an easy way to recolor everything. Is it hard to do?

I liked the color palette better from the original read kit but I bought this bundle and stamps. I’m happy and can’t wait to get it and use it. If anyone has the original kit laying around collecting dust I’ll be happy to buy it 😂
Did she say there would be a numbers release this year as well? I can’t remember. I’ve really been liking these smaller releases this year. Since I don’t do DD and it’s not on my radar I don’t find the timing of this release questionable.

I think they re-released the read story stamp along with the new one she created because so many people complained about missing out on that stamp.
I personally thought this timing was funny too, a release right after DD. I like some of it but not the whole kit.

I passed on the read release. I am not a fan of the colors and nothing stands out as need to have for me.
I'm pretty disappointed because I love to read and could use reading supplies... I got the original read kit but used it up long ago... but this release just left a lot of be desired. I also usually love Ali's stuff but lately it just hasn't been as exciting as it used to be. For this release, the colors are drab and a lot of the designs seem phoned in. Some of the cards are nice and I do really like the fabric hearts, but they sold out and I wasn't going to place an order for just those anyways. If I liked enough of the release I would've been happy to get those in the kit. The sticker basic shapes are just boring, I hate the chipboard that are just word phrase strips, such a waste of a chipboard sheet. The "patterns" they chose to repeat are boring also, like the one with the colorful macaroni shapes... that's something SC has done before and I've never liked it. I'm also pretty sure I have that identical "telling my story" 3x4 card in my stash. It's just too much of the same icons, fonts, shapes, phrases, etc. repeated from old releases for it to seem new enough to be exciting. I get that they want to reuse things that worked, but they need to have some entirely new designs and ideas with each release and then use that stuff as filler... it shouldn't be the bulk of the kit.
I don't know the budgeting behind it so maybe it's not feasible, but I think for these specialty releases they should spring for new dies to switch up the shapes for the stickers and chipboard. What would really be ideal is specially cut shapes, such as if a sticker sheet was just stickers of books and cut out around the edge of each book. I appreciate that they did that with the plastic die cuts of the books, but like I said before, these "new" items are very few and far between in this release. I also think those story cards are pointless. Story cards are a great idea for a "read" release, but come on... make them book review cards! Something that gives you room to write in author, title, dates read, summary, reaction and stars to color in and sell them in a set of 10 or 20, that was such an obvious option I'm surprised Ali didn't take it. I think those would fly off the shelves... plus sell the digital file. I don't see anything wrong with re-releasing the read story stamp, but I do think they should do more to label it as a re-release, even though I recognized it immediately it seems disingenuous to not highlight that it is a re-release.
I agree with the comments about it being poor timing to release right after DD. Even though budgeting isn't an issue for me, it's still bad timing because I have too many other projects on my mind with finishing up 2019 annual projects and creating DD and planning for 2020 projects... plus, just personally, I'm behind on a lot of my scrapbooking/craft projects because of our move so I definitely don't have time to take on something else.
And about the Guess Who game... I had similar thoughts as those posting here. I like Laura and think her projects are usually inspiring and her posts are fun, but this seems like she put a lot of effort into something just for an Instagram post... because who would she possibly play this with? I guess it would be a funny gag gift to bring to Ali at story camp or something, but making it just for the Instagram post is a little over the top.

I added it to my cart then read the fine print. ETA: I really like the color scheme of this kit, and the idea of a collection just for my books makes me happy. I didn't even know this kit was on the horizon until I got the release email yesterday. I am bummed that I missed the felt hearts, fingers crossed for a restock even though I know that is wishful thinking.

Yeah, it needs to be more obvious that the stamp is a re-release. The collection is a definite pass for me - very underwhelming. I do like the new stamp, but not enough to buy it since I already have a lot of good reading stamps.

It just seems so random and not thought out.

I wonder how many people are going to miss the note on the Read stamp that’s a reprint of the Read Story stamp....and end up with a duplicate. I did this... I took my lunch break and jumped online as soon as I got out of a meeting, and threw everything in my cart and checked out because I was afraid something would sell out. The worst part is I paid $24.99 for the original Read Story Stamp, because I did a m2m sub just to buy it. Ugh. I thought I’d be ok because the item name began with Read Collection, which I assumed meant all new. I am in the minority in that I love the color palette of this kit. It feels relaxed and cozy to me, perfect for reading. Even with my accidental purchase, I’m really excited about the kit and new stamp.

Don’t they do one every year? They haven’t done a new one for a couple years. There may be a few people who want/need to drop out, or she may be looking for more people who can create better video classes for her. (Just a theory, I don't know what's going on.) It's probably about time for some fresh takes, anyway, if they've had the same people for more than a couple of years.
