Buy my last count, Trump has tweet about the NFL 20 times since Friday, and about Puerto Rico twice.
And note this reaction/action, as of noon Monday:
The Trump administration says it is not planning to waive federal restrictions on foreign ships’ transportation of cargo to Puerto Rico and other areas affected by Hurricane Maria, as it did following hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
A spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security says officials believe there is sufficient capacity of U.S.-flagged vessels to move goods to Puerto Rico. Spokesman David Lapan said most of the humanitarian shipments to Puerto Rico will be through barges, which make up a significant portion of the U.S.-flagged cargo fleet.
DHS waived Jones Act restrictions during Harvey and Irma in order to move oil more quickly to the East Coast and make up for the loss of pipelines.
New York Rep Nydia Velazquez has asked for a Jones Act waiver for Maria.
Apparently Puerto Ricans, who are American citizens are not entitled to the same treatment as Houston and Florida.
However, he is worried about the money Puerto Rico owes to Wall Street
From his twitter: ...It's old electrical grid, which was in terrible shape, was devastated. Much of the Island was destroyed, with billions of dollars.... .owed to Wall Street and the banks which, sadly, must be dealt with. Food, water and medical are top priorities - and doing well.
Just when you think he can't go any lower, lets worry about the banks.
As someone proposed, maybe the NFL can go to Puerto Rico, and remind him.

I think this goes a long way explaining the lack of interest or coverage on Puerto Rico: Do people know Puerto Ricans are US citizens? The FEMA webpage publishes a list of ongoing relief activities from the various government agencies, but I would be surprised if Trump even knows what FEMA is. His Tweets show an unsurprising lack of empathy. I wonder if his babysitters like John Kelly have explained to him yet that Puerto Ricans are US citizens or if he just thinks they are more brown people who are rapists and criminals.

I think people genuinely are ignorant that people in Puerto Rico are Americans, and I am getting the sense that the President may be included.

I think it just dawned on him today that Puerto Rico is part of the U.S. and Puerto Ricans are Americans. Not to mention his newest controversy is going to hit his approval ratings so he has to go do something to raise them up again.

Honestly, these days it wouldn't surprise me if ordinary Americans didn't realize Puerto Ricans are Americans. But I expect the PRESIDENT to know that! omg. And it would NOT surprise me in the least if he didn't. Like someone said, just a bunch of non-white people on some island.

I have encountered people who think that Hawaii and New Mexico are not a part of the U.S. I can only imagine how many don't realize that the people of Puerto Rico (and Guam and US Virgin Islands) are U.S. citizens.

I was really happy to see NBC Nightly News in Puerto Rico yesterday. Lester Holt and others were there. It's heartbreaking.

I wonder how he feels that many Puerto Ricans are coming to the mainland to be with family. I also wonder if he knows once on the mainland they can vote in the presidential election. Let's not tell him.

Says the man who has declared bankruptcy multiple times. Don't get me started. I know help is trickling in to PR and the USVI, but too slowly. If people don't know that these areas are American, I'm tempted to slap them upside the head a textbook or two.

Someone we 'know' wasn't sure about Hawaii either, you know was Obama a citizen? I posted earlier that .... Puerto Ricans are native born American citizens, they are us!! But we know he doesn't particularly care for 'brown' people who speak Spanish. (Does he realize they can all come here to the mainland to live and stay forever?) Another thing is that we cannot drive to Puerto Rico, every thing must be shipped or flown in.

How cool would it be if the NFL went down to aid Puerto Rico with clean-up and donations. It would restore my faith in humanity.

This one is so upsetting to me. I've been to PR for the past 4 years for a work trip in october / november. I wasn't going this year (un-related to the storm), but it just feels so much personal to me because I've spent so much time there, on different parts of the island. I also have a very close friend/coworker whose entire family is there, with the exception of her and her husband. She JUST spoke to her one sister yesterday for about 10 seconds. She still hasn't reached her mom or her other family members. I just don't know, other than giving to the 501c3 that the former presidents are doing, what I can DO. I want to go help, but it's not like I can go run electric lines or anything. I don't even speak fluent spanish, so other than cleaning debris, I'd be limited in what I could offer. I just feel helpless to help them, and I truly don't think most people realize how bad it is - including the damn president.

We have not heard from dh's father that lives in PR

I have neighbors, as well as former co-workers who have family there.... I need to know where to give. Not a whole lot left after Harvey and Irma, but I will find some. OneAmericaAppeal.org is the charity set up by the living former presidents. You can give generally, which will go to victims of Irma, Harvey or Maria. Or there is a blue box, and if you click on it, you can select your $$ to specifically to go to one of the 3 storms. Disclaimer: I only know what I read on their site, which is that 100% of the funds will go to Hurricane Recovery. I'm not endorsing it, but it's where I sent my $$. They just added Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands this week, which is why it's not first mentioned on the site, but is further down. From the site: If I make a donation today, where does my money go? All donations made today will go to help victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida. In Texas, monies will go to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund focusing on the greater Houston region, and the Rebuild Texas Fund assisting communities across the state. In Florida, monies will go to the Florida Disaster Fund, which is the state’s official private fund to assist the state’s communities as they respond to and recover from destructive storms. In the Caribbean, donations will be distributed to Unidos Por Puerto Rico launched by the office of First Lady Beatriz Rosselló together with private sector coalition; and the Fund for the Virgin Islands which was established 25 years ago by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands for relief efforts. Can I mail a check? Yes. Checks to the One America Appeal may be mailed to: GBPLF One America Appeal Post Office Box 14141 College Station, Texas 77841-4141 *Checks should be payable to "GBPLF One America Appeal" Is the One America Appeal a new fund? No. All funds collected through the One America Appeal will go into a special account at the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, to ensure 100 cents out of every dollar donated goes to hurricane recovery. All monies collected will be distributed immediately to the designated recovery funds. All donations are also tax-deductible. Are public tax dollars involved in this project? No. This is a private effort led by distinguished private citizens to raise private dollars that will supplement ongoing relief and recovery efforts underway at all levels of government.
