Great to see everyone getting in the DD frame of mind. I'm going away this weekend for our Labour Weekend but need to set aside some time soon to work on foundation pages.

Is anybody working on their DD this weekend?
We have a busy weekend of pumpkin activities and birthday parties so I'm doubtful I'll get to work on anything. I'll have to live vicariously through you all!

I need help. Help me. Please. I don't know where to go with my DD attempt. I'm just lost. I wanted to do a small 4x6 or 5X7 album but I'm 2/3 into my October Daily 4x6 and can feel the burn-out effect. I'll never manage to replicate this for December. I'm done with the format for a while. I dread the last ten days. Should I attempt 6x8? Knowing that I've tried it in the past and failed... Has anyone managed to mix full page inserts (sans page protector) and page protectors in their 6x8 DD album? Any pictures to show?

I am making progress on my 2017 album.
I have narrowed my supplies down even further. In the past I have used every color in my album, but this year I am challenging myself to use red, black, green and white and touches of gold/kraft. I want to use more black and white photos and I think this push me to do that. I went through my digital pattern paper collection and pulled some non-Christmas files and sent them to get printed.
I am also getting my page protectors in order today. My album had the messed up AE page protectors so I am waiting for the replacement ones to come before I start shoving stuff in the pockets.

Dr Mom here - Before I can help, tell me: what makes you done with this? Not enough chances to play with product? Bored with pockets? how many photos do you usually take in December? I take a bunch - my boys are 16 & 18 so I know I won't always take this many. So for now, a 6x8 album is perfect. I am predicting that once my youngest is gone in 2 year s(*sniff*sniff*) I will drop down in album size as DH & I just aren't so interesting. Doctor! Doctor! mom! mom! 1. I'm done with doing something every. single. day. I didn't mind at the start. Now, though, I'm thoroughly annoyed. 2. I don't have crazy stuff happening in my life every day. No kids to say silly things. No puppies chewing on furniture or looking up cutely. I don't mind that aspect of my life. I just don't have loads to document anecdotally. 3. I want to do this one DD well. And then not do DD again for several years. 4. I'm ok with pockets but if it's all pockets, it feels like just another PL for me. I'd like to have a page/mini layout without PP here and there. For aesthetic and using dies purposes. 5. I have possibilities for extra photos but if I don't have the format chosen and album prepped, I'm not going to feel the motivation to do so. I know myself well enough by now... 6. I want to work with themed spreads, not daily ones.

I would make a list of the stories you know you want to tell and start there. If I recall correctly, Ali's original albums were way more mixed media than she does now. Have you checked her older albums out? She would punch holes in just about anything to stick it in her book. Maybe check her out? SaveSave

Well I'm not Dr. mom, but I do have a confession. I have *never* finished a DD in the same year. I make a very valiant attempt, and usually do pretty well, at journaling in a small moleskin I keep in my purse and take as many photos as I can. But I get burnt out by Dec 15 or so. At that point I give myself the grace to shelve it until later. I have the stories. I have the pictures (and if I don't I've had a handful of times where I found an image online to tell my story). This year I was super excited to get 2016 out and finish it up when the DD buzz started!

I seem to remember more interactivity in her older DDs but you're right, I need to sit down and go through them. And decide on my themed pages. And pick paper + an album. Will it ever end? I already feel behind.

Then cross the items off, one by one.

I posted this on the other December Daily (kit) thread, but wanted to share here as well in case someone else wanted to make their own hearts. I didn't buy the main kit but I wanted the felt hearts. With the 'wonky heart' cut from Studio Calico, and my silhouette on blade depth 10, thickness 33, speed 2 with double cut - I now have some felt hearts.

Y'all. These 2x2 pockets are going to be the death of me. They look so cute though! I bought an extra pack of 2x2 pages to cut down as inserts and everything but I think I may have to remove some as I go or I may end up hating them XD

Y'all. These 2x2 pockets are going to be the death of me. I always think they are cute but they are so tiny. My big issue is the 3x4. I never take vertical pictures. I ended up buying extra 4x6 page protectors but that just means I fit less pictures per page so my album becomes an overstuffed sausage with 1000 page protectors. Does anyone have a solution to holiday cards? My first DD I just stuck them in the back but it overflowed and they don't stay in. I should maybe just binder ring them.

My big issue is the 3x4. I never take vertical pictures. I ended up buying extra 4x6 page protectors but that just means I fit less pictures per page so my album becomes an overstuffed sausage with 1000 page protectors. I’m not sure this helps (it still requires extra page protectors) but I’ve just started cutting down 12x12 to make smaller inserts for my 6x8s as I like size variety. I used the equivalent of design L, which is 6 vertical 4x6, to make 4 single vertical 4x6 inserts and though the middle column gets wasted, it required no fuse tool just a cutting tool and a hole punch and you can’t really tell I’ve McGyvered them myself ^^ I cut just beyond the seal of the left most ones (which remained attached to the original seam/binder piece), then left about half an inch of the middle ones attached to the right most ones You’d easily be able to do the same with a protector that has horizontal 3x4 (in Official PL I think O and V are you best bets but not sure how easy these are to find individually? Maybe other companies carry this design more often?) to create 4 of 4x6 inserts with 2 horizontal 3x4 pockets each - space for 4 horizontal photos. I’ll probably be getting a pack of B equivalents next time as that is easy to find and gives me both the vertical 4x6 and horizontal 3x4s that I personally like, but if you don’t need vertical then that’s probably a waste of a big protector for you. As as a bonus this works out a LOT cheaper than buying the same number of such inserts from the manufacturers ETA: Hmm in the 5 minutes I spent looking appears much easier to find vertical 3x4 like this one. You could still cut them down easily enough, using with side of the middle row as the hinge; however you’d end up with 2 inserts that open towards the middle (which I think would be fine) and 2 opening towards the outer edge (which I feel would allow things to just fall out if not sealed). Dunno how to get round that one. Alternatively using PL small variety pack 5 you could make 30 inserts that open either at the top or into the hinge, which for $7 full price isn’t that bad. Even if it’s a bit of a waste of plastic...

Y'all. These 2x2 pockets are going to be the death of me. I bought a Passport(black body- red handle 50x50 size) punch from Amazon that fits these pockets just right, it is not cheap my husband paid around 45 for it last year I asked for it as a birthday gift. Let me tell you I now like using those 2x2 pockets.

I stamp out a 2" circle from each of my cards and pop them into the 2x2 page protectors. Nice and simple and uses up done of those PPs that I never know what to do with.

I've never actually made a dd album, last year I did two full 12x12 albums of Christmas 2014 and there is at least another album of photos left
Having my nephews in my preschool classroom gives so many extra photo opportunities I won't always have
Anyways chatting with my sister today we both decided not to make Christmas cards this year. My grandmother died during the summer and it's customary not to send cards the year after a death, I don't totally believe in it, nowadays, but it was a thing all her life so I decided to not send them this year.
So instead I'm going to tackle a dd album for this year as my sister is having a baby in November so it would be nice for this year and also to start December 25 moments etc albums for 2011, to last year, I figure I should get at least 2 albums done in the time I usually spend making cards
I will still do full albums for each Christmas but I would like the smaller highlight albums to display over Christmas and I think I will keep them with my Christmas decorations

I ordered some heavyweight white cardstock. There, that's something, isn't it? Looking forward to your pics, @zingermack. I need a bit of inspiration right now, I think. I'm dreading attempting another 6x8 but I can't find another size that would work anyway...

I'm away this weekend (visiting a friend in Christchurch for our Labour Weekend and also taking an extra couple of days off work) but want to get stuck in to my foundation pages when I get home.
I like to get things pretty well set up ahead of time so then in Dec I just take photos, print and do some journaling every day or couple of days. I don't have a huge amount to document that's necessarily Christmas related, so some of it is just the usual coming into summer stuff or everyday life - but I don't do PL on a regular basis anymore so it's a nice change.
