Clowns!- At a parade, a Kazim clown picked me up as he walked by and put me in the little jail cage they were pulling with a lawnmower! I was 5 and it terrified me. My Parents were apparently talking or distracted when it happened and didn't notice until they heard me screaming in the cage. My dad came about this close to killing a clown that day!
Vampires- I watched way too many horror movies as a kid and slept with a cross draped over my bedpost to keep vampires away.
Jeeps- I have no idea why, but I was terrified of jeeps (the "Wrangler" style).
Whatever the heck lived under my bed - I could practically jump from the door frame into my bed so my legs didn't dangle over. EVER!

Witches - because my mom and my sister (8 1/2 yrs older than I am) would threaten to call the witch if I was "bad" or tell me she was coming to get me etc.. I believed that my mom and sister were witches and when I saw them they magically looked like normal people.. Wolves - because I had a record of the story Peter and the Wolf and each character had an instrument associated with it so it would help build a mental picture as you listened. The wolf was a deep bass clarinet (*) and it scared me to death to hear those parts of the story. a nuclear bomb coming and killing us all (this was in the 70's) that my mom would die when I was 10 because her mom died when she was 10. I was so glad to turn 11! eta: Thank goodness for the internet. I just googled the Peter and the Wolf story and found it! www.philtulga.com/Peter.htmlI got to hear each character's instrument again and they all seem kinda creepy! Nice to relive some childhood trauma! *the wolf was french horns

Alligators. I lived in Missouri, so there was no chance they were going to get me, but I had an unnatural fear of them.
Also tornadoes.
And swallowing my own tongue.
I was a weird kid.

Volcanoes ( especially ones forming in my house), but I liked looking at pictures of them.
Heights
Getting trapped in the House on the Rock. (I had nightmares of ending up in an endless loop of rooms.) I actually had a panic attack in the HotR and had to leave through an employee area except that we still had to cross the bridge. I had been walking verrrrrrry carefully down the center and my sister stopped in front of me to look down a knothole. I can still hear what my voice sounded like when I freaked that she was making me stop. Between my fear of heights and my panic attack it was kind of no wonder I had nightmares.

I can still hear what my voice sounded like when I freaked that she was making me stop. I haven't been to that place it at least 20-25 years, but I do remember that's it's very maze-like! a lot of the rooms are kind of dark, too, and some of the exhibits were sort of creepy (at least in my memory, lol). I don't think this is a childhood thing, necessarily, but I have a thing about going down escalators. I don't think my foot or shoe will get stuck, necessarily, but I'm probably unhealthily worried about falling when I'm getting on a down escalator, because it's moving when I step onto it... If I'm in the airport by myself, I'd rather use the elevator. When I'm with my boyfriend traveling, I'll stand there for a good long while before planting my feet 'just so' on the top step and I have to bargain with myself in my head for a while in order to do it.

Snakes under my bed. Also, I was terrified that our house would catch on fire and burn down. This was after a neighbors house burned down when I was 4, so that one is understandable.
