I wish I knew how to use digital designs. I remember feeling this way. It is difficult in the beginning, but after a while it is really addictive to play around and see what you can make. I've been making my daughter's birthday invitations, our Christmas cards, etc for a while now. It does get easier- I promise! Although the more you know, the more you realize how little you know (although with knowing a little you can still do a lot!)

And after almost buying a mini kit from ali, I decided even $5 was ridiculous when you consider what all comes in this box. Plus Ali wanted $4 for shipping. That's just math I don't like.

julie5 I clicked home>shop and checked stamps, and I tried searching potterhead. I'll keep looking, though. I wanted those last time and missed them. I bought the Cameo 3 bundle and signed up for the free club trial, and it gave me full points for the bundle (plus I got mats and blades), and I had a $30 credit from it, so I used that to buy the Mint bundle for $20 JUST to make myself some Harry Potter stamps! KP’s site is open for non-subbers. The HP stamp set is in the Black Friday category here: kellypurkeyshop.com/products/discontinued-potterheadThanks for this, I ordered a few hours ago.

Scrapbooking for less is having round 3 of their Black Friday sale, lots of papers and stuff for 50 cents, and their shipping is always $6.95 no matter how much you spend...
I particularly like the collection kits for $9 (not part of the current sale). I am not affiliated with the website, but it has greatly helped my stash explode in recent months...

Geralyn Sy's site - in a creative bubble - has 15% all digital downloads today. I picked up the Merry bundle and the 8x3 holiday cards.

And I just bought the video bundle that benefits hurricane victims at online card classes. I've been wanting an easy way to see a lot of crafters' video styles in one bunch so this should do the trick. Then I can subscribe on youtube to the ones I like the best.

I have a ridiculously stupid question. What program do you use to even start?? Photoshop? Not a ridiculous question at all! At the time I was a graduate student, I was able to purchase Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator with my student discount (was still an expensive purchase at time). Unless you get an older version, now they seem to only have a subscription based model (which I think is expensive), so to start, I would use Gimp (which I have heard is similar to Photoshop). Here is the linky: www.gimp.org

I'm going to have to try to play around with that!

I'm going to have to try to play around with that! I'm not familiar with Gimp but if it's like Photoshop it's probably not the best way to design invitations or Christmas cards if it's text based. Photoshop can work for text and photos, but for text alone you'd want to use Illustrator (for stuff like logos) or InDesign for layouts (like invitations). Not sure if there's a free alternative. Also, you may want to check out Lynda.com. They have great tutorials on how to use different programs. Again, I'm not sure what their offerings are like for non-Adobe apps but for Adobe apps they have been extremely helpful. It is $24.95 a month BUT sometimes your local library will have free access. I am able to get access through my mom's LA library card. It's worth checking out because it has so much information and if it's free, it's even better! ETA: It's not that you CAN'T use Photoshop for text layouts, just that Illustrator and InDesign make it easier to work with text.

It's almost impossible that high-quality items can actually get marked down, even on Black Friday. I was surprised to discover that TemplateMonster ( www.templatemonster.com/ ) offered 50% off on most its products. They have Black Friday all weel long.

My SSS from their Simon-brand day (last Wednesday?) arrived today. I was already prepared for it to be the last thing to trickle in, and had already joked with friends about whether they'd arrived before Christmas. I'm not sure whether to chalk it up to a Christmas Miracle or their updated shipping system, but yay!

I'd say you might be lucky.
I have an order for the Christmas Squad dies that go with the Christmas Squad stamp set. The order for that die was placed early November 17 and I've not seen it yet. I did send them an email in which I received a nice reply, but still no die.
