I am wondering what is going on with Minc. Today I went to Hobby Lobby, Joann's, and 2 Michael stores looking for foil and only found 2 rolls on clearance at HL. Are all of the Minc machines and foils being discontinued by American Crafts??? Amazon has some stuff available but some of it is from 3rd party sellers. Just wondering.

HL and M’s started putting them on clearance where I shop back in the summer. Ugh. I hate that because I love that machine. I bought some foil from zulily when they had it awhile back.

American crafts still has the machines and foils for sale on their website. JoAnn's still carries them online (Michael's doesn't), and our local J's still has some in stock. Our LSS can still order them from their wholesaler, but that could just mean the wholesaler has a large inventory. You can use other foils like Deco Foil as well, if that helps. I know it doesn't answer your question, but that's all I've got.

Well I hope it's not being discontinued! I have plenty of foil for now but it won't last forever.

I stocked up on foil when Michael's was clearing them out so I've got enough to last me for a long time. I sure hope that they continue to stock the stuff though! I love my Minc. I did just happen to notice when I was browsing on Ali the other day that they sell it too. Problem with that is how long it takes to arrive, and I'm not sure what condition it would be in!

I stopped at TM on Thursday and they had LOTS of Minc foil. I told DH I wish I was into foiling.

I don't know if it's compatible, but GoPress and Foil is available in many colors. It makes me really consider getting a foiling machine, but I know I wouldn't use it enough. Really like the chocolate brown...

Hobby Lobby had Minc foil on clearance when I was there a week or two ago. Tuesday Morning has had a lot of Minc foil each time I have gone.

I just picked up a Minc on clearance at M's yesterday, but they did not have any foils. Checked on line and a couple of stores in Edmonton still have them. Thinking of ordering today.
My LSS lady tells me that Therm-o-web is coming out with a bunch of new foils that will work.

I saw a big Minc on the clearance shelf at Hobby Lobby a week or so ago but it wasn’t stickered with a clearance tag and I wasn’t motivated enough to go ask someone if it was supposed to be marked down. That store is so screwy. Nothing is uniform from store to store and half the employees don’t know what they’re doing. And I hate-hate-HATE it that their inventory isn’t computerized with the sale and markdown prices. If the cashiers don’t know exactly what’s on sale and how much it’s on sale for, they have to look up every stupid thing which makes for painfully slow checkouts.

My Tuesday Morning had new rolls in the last shipment. They were all dated 2018. That does make me wonder.

Don’t you need a particular printer to print out your designs to be able to use the minc?

Don’t you need a particular printer to print out your designs to be able to use the minc? You need a laser printer or else the special Minc black cs that you can die cut then put through the machine with the foils.

That's what I thought. I didn't buy one as I don't own a laser jet printer. My current printer is ink jet and working fine. They should have made the minc compatible for both types of printers They would have gotten more sales. I would have bought one if I had the right printer. I not sure I would like her designs.

Today I ordered some Minc reactive paint and reactive ink, along with some foils from a store in the Edmonton area. The ink and paint are basically clear gels that pick up the foil when heated. I have seen tutorials where they used these with stencils to create a design before foiling. The LSS lady says that you can use a thin layer of the paint with stamps as well.
She also has stocked "Minc reactive sheets" in the past and is expecting a restock. The sheets are light cs, printed black with laser type colour. You can die cut them and then run through the machine to foil the diecuts. I am really hoping she can get some more of those in.
